TO: The Devs FROM: An Apostrophe

<DIV> <DIV> <DIV>In EQ1 you could add an apostrophe to any name all you had to do was petition a GM and he/she would do it for you as long as it didn't violate the naming policy. So my thoughts when we created our guild was that if the city guild hall wouldn't allow it then we could petition a GM to have it done. Well that did NOT pan out! First response was that it was a violation of the naming policy (HUH!) so I re-read the naming policy didn't mention anything at all about an apostrophe. So I added comment to the petition that nothing at all is said about the apostrophe. "3 days later" I get back that it is not in the current mechanics of the game. Ummm HUH! Ok so how hard is it to add an apostrophe? Look heres one ' heres another one after a name to make it plural ( Calis' Two room apartment ) thats what I get everytime I go into my apartment. So tell me again its not in the current game mechanics....</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Calis of AB</DIV> <DIV>Calis Crimson Eagles <------------ should be -----------> Calis' Crimson Eagles</DIV></DIV></DIV>

Might want to change your subject line. Developers purposefully don't respond to threads that call for their attention.

Hm...it's just my guess... but I think they did it to free up the CSR personnel time so they are available to deal with the more problematic issues.Remember that some of these surnames containing " ` " are not allowed. For example, in cases where it is used as "the" (D`) or "of" (O`). This doesn't mean these prefixes are not allowed, but it depends entirely on what's after the ` and if it has any meaning. This obviously requires a person to evaluate if your surname is appropiate or not, which translates in time and effort of CSR guys being spent giving surnames.I would love to have my surname from EQ1 back (which, incidentally, started with D` but since the rest of it had no meaning, was legal), however I do understand why they haven't given us the ability to do it automatically.I surely hope that when there are more guides around later on, this ability will be given to them.
