Indeed... I /bug reported it last week (although I was merely using level 30 poison at level 25). I guess it's not considered a 'maintained' buff which may be why it got overlooked.

Actually depends on the posion too. I can use level 50 player crafted posion at level 3 just after I declare scout. Hurray for a use for player made posion TWINKS!

I have personally not mentored anyone, but I thought poisons could be a problem that was overlooked. The problem with poisons is they are not considered a mantained spell/skill, and thus do not get dropped when mentoring, which is a good thing becuase poisons can be expensive. I have two questions for you Stylin:

Did your poison skill level change when you started mentoring? (i.e. at level 40 your poison skill is at 200; does it become 100 when you mentor someone who is level 20?)

Were you using player made poisons or vendor poisons?

The reason why I ask about the skill level is because this affects how much damage player made poisons will do. Since all player made poisons have a minimum skill level of 1 that means you can apply it at any level, and your poison skill will affect how much damage that poison will do. With vendor poisons the mimimum and maximum level is the same, so the damage they will do is fixed no matter what you skill level is, you just need to have a high enough skill to apply the poison.

What needs to be changed is vendor poison need to have a scaled skill level like player made poisons.

Damage scales with skill lvl....so there should be no issue here. Has ANYONE seen a 100 damage poison proc at lvl 15? If you can say for certain that this is happening then there's something bugged...but poison simply doesn't work by poison lvl...it works off of your poison skill. I regularly use t4 poison with my lvl 20 brigand and have mentored lvl 15 before with nothing abnormal coming from it. Quite the contrary, I'd be [Removed for Content] if my expensive poisons got dispelled every time I mentored.

Well, at level 16 my poisen was hitting for over 100 inital proc, then like 87 hp a tick. Doesn't seem scaled down to me, seems exactly like my lvl 40 poisen.

Stylin, you still did not aswer my questions:

Talone wrote:

Did your poison skill level change when you started mentoring? Yes, your poison skill drops when you mentor. In fact, if your poison expires and you're not carrying lower level NPC-sold poison, you have to un-mentor, re-apply, then re-mentor.I was a level 25, using a level 30 store-bought poison. Damage output was identical (purple, NPC-sold, so I was seeing the full 88/tick DoT). Not sure if that would be the same rules as player-made (I suspect player-made uses a different rule set).Have not heavily tested (only a 32 brigand), but it does look like a bug/oversight.
