<DIV>I do play on Test a few hours each week, but i am not guilded so haven't been able to test this.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If a level 40 Mentors a level 15 in the same guild and they both go to get a City task, what hapens?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The possibilities I can think of are:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Level 15 gets a Level 15 Writ, Mentor gets a Level 40 Writ.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Both get a level 15 Writ.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Mentor cannot get a Writ at all.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Can someone from Test let us know what actually does happen? It would be nice, although potentially exploitable, for both to be able to do writs together.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" size=2>A day or so after mentoring showed up on test I tried this and it didn't appear to work. I was level 22 mentoring a level 17, she got writs for her level spread but the NPC wouldn't give me the option of getting those level writs. I was forced to get writs for level 20+ even though my level had been reduced to that of hers. I don't know if this was ever modified, I haven't tried since with the writ system.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV>would be interested in this as well. Regardless I will be in those writ groups, but it would be fantastic if I could actually contribute more then my tanking skills.</DIV>
I agree. becoming a lower level should enable you to get lower level writs.

The concept is for the mentor to HELP the trainee, not to really work that lower level - that's why I agree with the reduction of XP the mentor gets. I consider this a privilege to group with and help my friends and guildees at their lower levels, not a means for me to make major progress on my own leveling. I do like the ability to pick up passed by quests tho. There was so much I wasn't aware of the first pass thru. And I LOVE completing quests!! <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
I really think this needs to be looked into. The entire mentoring system is centered around being able to help friends/guildies, while still experiencing things for yourself. I believe that the writ givers should see you as whatever mentor level you are, and give you writs accordingly. In my specific situation, my wife and I just dinged lvl 30. Our 3rd character that we run with us is lvl 28. Lvl 30+ city tasks are in a higher tier then lvl 25 - 30 tasks. Just seems like an inconvienience, since the lvl 28 character is in task limbo now hehe. <div></div>
<DIV>I dont reply much, mainly just read the message boards but i feel there was something left out in this topic, or i may have missed it myself from reading to fast. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyway, i think this system is in place because what happens if some1 lets say lvl 35 mentors another in the guild at lvl 14 and they both get the lvl 10-14 guild writ. Now that they both have it, the mentor stops mentoring and goes off to complete the writ for himself extremely easily. What if a whole group of lvl 35 players goes and mentors one lvl 14 player and all get the writ, drop mentoring and go off for themselves to complete the writ. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>More work would have to be done by SoE and i think they saw this could happen, instead of doing more work why not stop with a working system already <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It would be good, i aggree to mentor some1 and do writs together. I just dont see it happening, not yet anyway.</DIV>

THe problem is the Faction is attached to the Writs. They have to remove faction from writs or make the faction scale the same way the status reward does to make a difference.

So why does faction need to be scaled again?</p><p>Frankly it doesn't bother me that a person that mentors can't get a writ at that mentored level, but <b>really I don't personally see why they should be denied that ability</b>. I mean really it's a trivial amount of status he could get if he would do a writ of the appropriate level, there is NO monetary gain doing a writ, at most you will get a first time quest bonus ap xp and even that is fairly trivial considering. OH and you can also get one more to your quest count completed like that really matters in the larger scale of things.</p>

<p>The problem is, since all writs at every level give you 150 faction with the specific city faction, it would trivialize getting max faction.</p><p>For example: Level 80 mentors to level 15 and gets 4 writs in commonlands, goes out and kills the mobs in about 2 minutes (plus a bit of travel time to get then and move to each mob), and then turns them in. Less then 10 minutes and they are ready for the next set.</p><p>Now compare the above example to a level 80 having to do the level 80 writs, to get any faction. You have to move through a level 80 zone and deal with the aggro and then you have to kill level appropriate mobs (which take a bit longer then level 15 mobs).</p><p>If they take all faction and status off of writs when they are gray, then great, I would be all for that. You can finish the quest and up your quest count, but they provide no advantage for leveling a guild or your standing with the city factions.</p>

A nice solution could be to simply give no faction for chars with to high lvl for the writ. They could simply post a message when completing the writ to the player who is too high to get faction, why he gets no faction. For now you could complete an old writ an d get faction for a low level task as high level p layer, even if only once. So everyone would be happy, the players who want to mentor, the players like me who need the writs for their quest count.
