<DIV>Lots of people had similar thoughts about this matter, I am just wrapping up my own and theirs for a complete solution that might work (example for a tailor)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#99ff00>Tier1 Wholesaler:</FONT></DIV> <DIV>Once a character has accumulated x status points by doing writs and is artisan 5+ he is allowed to buy from a "supplier"-vendor who offers in addition <FONT color=#99ff00>Tier1 refines </FONT>(including the coocking equivalents like packet of spice) and may carry the title "wholesale supplier"</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#99ff00>Tier2 Outfitter  Society:<BR></FONT>Once a character has accumulated xx status points by doing writs and is outfitter 15+ (the number of writs for xx status points should be calculated that he gets to 15 by doing writs alone) he is allowed to buy from an "apprentice"-vendor who offers in addition to above  <FONT color=#ff9900><FONT color=#99ff00>Tier2 refines /Tier1 interims </FONT> </FONT>and may carry the title "outfitter apprentice"</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#99ff00>Tier3 Outfitter  Society:<BR></FONT>Once a character has accumulated xxx status points by doing writs and is tailor 25+ (the number of writs for xxx status points should be calculated that he gets to 25 by doing writs alone) he is allowed to buy from a "adept"-vendor who offers in addition to above  <FONT color=#99ff00>Tier3 refines /Tier2 interims  </FONT>and may carry the title "tailor adept"</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#99ff00>Tier4 Outfitter  Society:</FONT><BR>Once a character has accumulated xxxxx status points by doing writs and is outfitter 35+ (the number of writs for xxxxx status points should be calculated that he gets to 35 by doing writs alone) he is allowed to buy from a "master"-vendor who offers in addition to above  <FONT color=#99ff00>Tier4 refines /Tier3 interims  </FONT>and may carry the title "master tailor"</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#99ff00>...etc....</FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#ffcc00>All the stuff bought at these society vendors must be made NO-TRADE! </FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What are the pros and cons of this?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Pros: </DIV> <DIV>- Only status lets one buy refines/interims<BR>- crafters can buy all refines and most interims that are grey to them</DIV> <DIV>- one cannot buy interims of his current Tier so other crafters of the same level still find a market for those.</DIV> <DIV>- One cannot sell or swap the society vendor bought stuff to alts if its NO-TRADE so even the refine market wont be broken as much as it is now.</DIV> <DIV>- It hurts the botters as they are forced to spend LOTS of times on these writs to be able to at least buy the refines they need for their mass production (since they NEVER can buy the interims they need for the writs they get  :smileyvery-happy: ) </DIV> <DIV>- writs become overall less pointless</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Cons:</DIV> <DIV>- I see none atm but feel free to add them</DIV><p>Message Edited by Tradeskill_Addict on <span class=date_text>03-04-2005</span> <span class=time_text>08:23 AM</span>

5 stars for this idea! It's great!I did my wholesaler tasks to help level my tradskill society in hopes of having more items to choose from as I got status. Yes the old way I made some money to help me keep leveling but when I first started doing them it was because I read in the instrction manual that we were supposed to do this to give our tradeskill society benefits of having stuff that was grey to us to make made more readily available. Well, that's how I understood it anyway. So three cheers and 5 stars...I want to see the hard work done by so many rewarded <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<DIV>Tradeskill_addict,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>On the whole I like your suggestions.  But your suggestion on how to implement it would seem to quite a change.  We currently only have two types of tradeskill societies.  The Wholesaler and The Sub_class Specific society.  So there is no Tier3, 4 and 5 societies nor a need for them.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If I understand you correctly, you are suggesting that when a crafter is making something that does not result in any experience for them then the sub components should be availble on a Vendor as long as the crafter has earned enough status with the society.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My first thought, although I like the idea, is that it is zero barrier to botters, many of them are doing the workorder tasks anyway to earn the 60% profit.  So they will have the highest status out there.  But for the moment lets just forget about the botters, we shouldn't negatively change the gain just to make their life more difficult.  As I said, I like the idea  - (<EM><FONT color=#ffffcc>but I think it may have some negative impacts</FONT></EM>).  Now lets think about the implementation.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>At the moment the certain stuff appears for sale on a Society based on the society's level.  Due to a design flaw/exploit that was in the game for about the first 45 days many wholesalers leveled quite quickly, which is why the tier 2 stuff is for sale.  For your idea to work this stuff will need to be removed from the vendor [They are planning to do this anyway].</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What should be considered trivial as a sub component?   In my opinion it is trivial if the stuff it is used in is also trivial.  That essentually means that we could consider a tier "gray" once a player reaches level x5 of the next tier.  In other words:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1) tier 1 goes trivial when a player hits 15</DIV> <DIV>2) Tier 2 goes trivial when a player hits 25</DIV> <DIV>3) Tier 3 goes trivial when a player hits 35</DIV> <DIV>4) Tier 4 goes trivial when a player hits 45</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The logic behind this is if a level 45 player is making some level 25 stuff they are not doing it for profit or experience, they are doing it to help a friend or guild mate, so why force them to go through lots of steps that are very easy, boring and time consuming to them.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Here is the bad news.  Because it is boring, time consuming and of no advantge to them they are more likeley to leave it to a lower level crafter.  If they could whip it out fast then it really hurts the younger crafters who could have been making a small profit and gaining experience.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So while I would love to have the feature, because sometimes I do make trivial stuff for friends if I can't find a younger crafter in the guild, I think it would hurt the economy overall.  Not to mention probabky making it even easier for the botters.</DIV>

<DIV>your points are all valid I have to admit - I just might reply 2 things</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1. since one can never vendor buy the interims one needs while doing the IMPORTANT stuff that earns XP one wouldnt buy from younger crafters but from crafters of the same level who have a different profession. Even refines have to be bought until one hits 15, 25, 35 etc.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But if everyone is in need (not in dire need of course) of something everyone will be able to sell some stuff - not to *older* crafters but to those of different profession. For a 21nd lvl tailor (me) there is no diference if another tailor of 35th level or a carpenter of my level needs anything.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2. Everything is better than the current situation where everyone can visit the wholesaler to buy drink components for a tier2 drink that lasts 4 hours and costs 36 copper to produce (iced silk - completely vendor supplied!) - this must be botters haven.....</DIV>

<DIV>I have posted a couple times on this topic.  I completely agree that society status should benefit the individual and not the whole.  I am doing tasks for my society, I gain favor with them, I gain enough favor with them and I can get some new items available or they could cut me a deal on some items.  Why not make them like a status merchant.  This would correct many issues such as:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1. Switching societies to whoever has the highest level just to get the items available there. Requiring loyalty to your society as they are the only ones you have gained favor with.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2.  The ability for just anyone to mass produce cheaply based on what is available on the merchants.  It requires some time and effort to gain status with your society  (especially after the last update) not everyone will be interested in leveling up their status.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>3. Gives us a reward to doing all these tasks.  I'm #4 in my workshop, and our society is level 4.  My status isn't really doing much for me atm.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>4. Prevents people from just buying out supplies for resale unless it is earned. Most of those people don't have the time, energy or patience to tradeskill which is why they are reselling . The antonican coffee and aromatic red wine anyone?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Why not open up some cool room items too?  I would love to see some potion bottles  and hanging dried herbs for my alchemist or jars of flour, hanging bread, rolling pins, etc for my provisioner.  How fun is that!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm not saying everything be based on status, but cut us a break with bread, pasta.  I still need that at level 35 and they are level 3 recipies.  I'm sure there are like items in other classes.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Eirwen Lasgalen</DIV> <DIV>Level 33 Monk</DIV> <DIV>Level 35 Provisioner</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Grizelda Grimwall</DIV> <DIV>Level 19 Warlock</DIV> <DIV>Level 29 Alchemist</DIV>

<DIV>I'd certainly prefer this to the current Test situation of virtually no refines/interims on Vendors.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My feeling is that there will never be a supply of refined/interim items available reliably and economically from the Broker. We will have to see what happens when it goes live, but my bet is that in a relatively short time (weeks rather than months) it will be difficult to buy most refineds/interims at all, and next to impossible to buy what you need as and when you need it. It is already very difficult to buy lower level interims on the broker and it will only get worse as the average level of the playerbase gets higher. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As a Provisioner, I still use my Craftsman skills to make Maple Boxes. I make them for my bank and house vault and for my alts and for friends. I try not to make any of the refines and sub-combines if i can help it. I buy the stroma resin and the maple lumber off the vendor and the studs and plates off the broker. Frequently - and I mean probably 3 times out of 4, I have to postpone making the boxes because either the studs or the plates, or both, aren't available.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I already find crafting far too time-consuming. If I am making xp it is tolerable, but it just isn't entertaining to have to do two or even three grey refines, then two or three grey interims just to make a grey finished product, even when it's a prooduct I need. </DIV>
