<DIV>I can't imagine that there are less people on at 10am EST than 7AM EST. So when they come down at 7AM est it's a nice treat. ESPECIALLY on weekends <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>This is not a post to complain about the new time.  Just making an observation.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Whatever time you change it to will make some people happy and irritate others.  I for one am affected by the new time more than the old.  I start getting ready for work at 7:30, so the 10:00 time was better.  I could get up a bit early and try to get a task or two accomplished.  On Monday this week, I camped the lightbringer wisp for a bit in the morning and found him.  Or I'll do some crafting.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have no idea the number of people on at each of these times, but I think it could be possible that more people are on at 7AM during the week than 10AM.  Who knows.  But 4AM Pacific is probably a low volume time, even though it may hit freaks like me who get up to play a bit before work on the east coast.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I do think i'll like the 7AM time better on the weekends.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But I like the idea of changing it up on occasion.  Leave it at 7 for the next couple of weeks.  Change it to 2PM next month, whatever.  I think there would be a lot of players who would love to see the time set to 4PM sometime.  They would be able to leave their merchants on all day while they were at work.  The kids coming home from school would hate that time.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I am sure SOE employee schedules play a factor.  They want and deserve a schedule they can depend on.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But probably the number of people on at given times is the primary factor.  There are probably various times which are similar in load.  Switch it up between these times now and again so the same people aren't always the ones unable to play.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For now, I'll get a little more sleep.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

I for one, enjoy having the servers back up before I head off to work in the morning. Lets me get in trader mode for the day instead of going offline not long after heading to work. I tend to agree that no matter what time they choose, it will always be a problem for someone or some time zones. *shrug* maybe someday in the future they will be able to leave the servers up for a few days at a time <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<DIV>Finally got my wife a cheapo PC, so that she'd not have to use mine during the day.. but, with the 10am reboots, it really did me no good.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So, 7am works best for me as well now, especially in vendor situation.  Now I can be in vendor mode while at work.  10am would boot me too soon, before anything had sold.</DIV>

<DIV>Same here - nice to be able to go into trader mode before heading off to work. And yes, no time is a good time for everyone. All you can do is aim to please more than you displease.</DIV>

<DIV>Since I am european it does affect me in the same way as before (7=3pm, 10=6pm) but it was my choice to play on a US server so I never complained (or will)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But I am glad SOE (probably) reacted to the many players who needed this change.</DIV>

<DIV>well. i'm not sure if it's gonna be the new standard, i doubt it. but I'd like to hope so. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The worst time for the 10am thing is on the weekend! tons of people have to log off at that time, ruins groups etc. there are waaay more peopel who woule prefer it to be 7am est on weekends, i am almost certain. </DIV>

<DIV>7am is much nicer for the weekends.  I would get up at 8 or 9 and start playing, but nobody was on because they knew they would have to camp in a couple hours.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This is great for weekend mornings.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>its great they moved it back some, just wish they would move it back one more hour to 6am est :smileyvery-happy: so I could do what so many of you are doing before you go to work, and put my vendor up.</DIV>

the new 7am EST time is even better for me than it was before... because they used to come down at 7am PST and come back up at around 8am PST, and my school starts at 8am PST.

<DIV>I don't like it. I leave my vendor on overnight, and 7 AM EST is 4 AM PST (my time). That means I get a lot less time to sell things... so now I have to sell during the day, when I want to adventure.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This is the reason I'm pretty much quitting my woodworker until there is a way to sell while adventuring. If that never happens... well... I guess that's one less woodworker to compete with for those other woodworkers on Oggok.</DIV>

It cuts right in to my prime time now as an Australian. This is possibly why there were more people on at 4am PST as the US servers are not US only - they are worldwide servers.Understandably you can't please everyone and that is something you understand living in another time zone area. Although, I couldn't give a rats about those who were complaining about the servers coming down too late to set up their merchant before going to work/school rather than actual playtime. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

The main issue is not the downtime of the server its having to leave your computer on to sell stuff. this is the way SOE wants it,(i see the reasons behind both sides). i know i dont leave my game running to sell stuff so anytime i dont not playing is a good time for the downtime (for me) but most players do and the new time would allow more to leave it on during the day which would allow more items to be sold during the daylight hours not just after midnight when im sleeping.

<DIV>Offline vendoring would suit me best and wouldnt make anybody particularly vulnerable to server downtime.</DIV>

Quitting because you lose 3 hours of selling? Thats awesome.<BR> <HR> <P></P></BLOCKQUOTE> <P>Yeah, I'm quitting crafting... it's very hard to sell anything as a Woodworker, 3 hours for 3 days in a row basically means one night of selling now, that can mean 1 sale. That could be the only sale in days. Sometimes I'll sell 3 finished products in 1 days. It really depends on when people are playing and what they need, extra time could mean that one customer that can finally take a product that I've been trying to sell off of my hand. Now I have to spend more time AFK in the afternoon instead of doing what I want, adventuring. The best solution is to just not craft or ease off a lot because I find adventuring much more fun. Crafting isn't fun when I have to sell everything to the vendor, it's a waste of my time if I don't get SOME money from it.</P> <P>I'm glad this works for more of those in the East Coast though =) this wouldn't even be an issue if we didn't have to AFK sell. If they really want to limit the amount of stuff on the market, we could make it possible to only sell while online. Online + Offline selling could mean to way low prices because of the market being flooded (which is would be). So yeah, whatever SOE does, I do think that the selling system in this game needs to be redone. Then downtime would only matter when it comes to play time, not AFK selling.</P>

<blockquote><hr>Fafnir wrote:<DIV>The new time is terrible for me, being an Aussie. In Victora, NSW and ACT the patches start at 11pm, QLD they start at 10pm and it gets earlier as you move west. When our daylight savings finishes here, it'll be even worse. But it obviously works for the yanks, so I guess it'll probably stay that way.I can't wait until SOE get their act together enough to do "occasional" patches as per EQ1 instead of having to take the servers down every single night. Until they do that, there will always be somebody put out by any 24 hour patch schedule.

<DIV>It'd be nice if there was an Aussie server. But I hope that SOE is making the times they bring down the server coorelate to the time that there are fewest people on. From what i've seen there are WAAAAY more people on at 10AM EST than 7AM EST. ESP on weekends.</DIV> <DIV>Sorry for the Aussies, but the rest of the world outnumber ya where this is concerned.</DIV>

<DIV>Zarlin, i'm sorry but it's simple. They should do what pleases the majority. Here's the thing, I seriously think that there are more 3rd, 2nd shifters or non-working US people who play during the day than there are Aussies, on these servers. I dont think my $15 means more than yours , but i do think that the majority should win out in this thing, ESP on weekend, when there is no question that 7am EST is better for the majority.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Just saw the topic and decided to post this. I live in the eastern time zone. I leave my house every morning at 8:30 am for work. 1 hour of down time between 7 and 8 eastern, instead of 10 and 11 eastern would make auctioning possible for me. Mistmoore

<DIV>just a quick question for the devs</DIV> <DIV>should we expect daily reboots of the servers to go on indefinitely?</DIV> <DIV>i thought i read that once you guys found the systems to be stable that you would shift to 1 reboot per week or every other week?</DIV> <DIV>thanks for the response</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Living on the east coast US, I love the new reboot time.  Shifting it up to 3AM PST would be even better.  But as it stands, I can get up before work and make a 30 minute farming run before the reboot.  Then wait for the reboot (which seems to take about 30 minutes) and log in my alt to sell stuff, and the head off to work.  So, now I can leave my alt on to sell stuff all day while I'm at work.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The old reboot time allowed me to sell stuff only until 10:00 AM EST.</DIV>

Times moved 3 hours so some people can put up their traders, whlie downing the server in the middle of some players prime playing time (8pm for me =( ) is just plain riduculous.Fix the memory leak or implement offline trading, or give us aussies some consideration with our adopted server, Najena.
