View Full Version : Please do not nerf the one thing that a Coercer does very well in a group
<DIV>Sony,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I am very dissapointed that you have decided to nerf the one thing that a coercer seems to bring to a group with this patch with your lowering the power drain for the consuming thoughts line of spells. Please rethink this nerf as it is the one thing I have as a Coercer that I feel I do really well. I am keeping this post clean and trying to give you an idea that if and when this nerf of our ability to generate power for the group goes live it will most likely be the last straw. You have claimed that you were looking at our damage in a post by Moorgaurd a few weeks back but instead of doing something about our damage you have decided to nerf our one advantage. Why? This was not an unbalancing thing in the game and certainly the fact that there are numerous areas where we fall short of an illusionist should more than make up for our ability to generate more power for the group than they do. I really do not understand why you have decided to nerf us before you even fix our class. You have claimed that we are supposed to be one of the highest damage dealers in the game i.e. right below sorcerors and conjurers yet instead of dealing with the issue that we fall far short of that you decide to nerf us further? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Please help me understand why instead of fixing our class you will be nerfing it? We are already one of the least played classes in the game and I have a feeling that this change will do nothing to change that and possibly even cause there to be less of us. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I am truly beginning to be fed up with this game yet I would like to continue playing but I cannot understand the urge you have to nerf rather than fix and hide it by claiming it is a balancing issue which if this was truly a balancing issue you would be bringing our abilities in other areas up to the level of illusionists not nerfing the one thing we do better.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Concerned customer</DIV><p>Message Edited by minobu on <span class=date_text>02-28-2005</span> <span class=time_text>10:52 AM</span>

<DIV>What is this one thing?</DIV>
<DIV>sorry its the little blurb in the post about the test center update on 2/25 that mentions the coercer line of spells starting with consuming thoughts that drains power from a mob and gives it to the group having the mana drain lowered to bring it in line with the illusionists ability to drain power. This gives the coercer an advantage over illusionists in the area of power regen for the group.</DIV> <P>Message Edited by minobu on <SPAN class=date_text>02-28-2005</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>10:51 AM</SPAN></P><p>Message Edited by minobu on <span class=date_text>02-28-2005</span> <span class=time_text>10:53 AM</span>

<DIV>It's typical for Sony and in the past Verant to nerf something when someone complains about it on the boards. It is much harder to fix a bug then to nerf someone. I'm not happy about the nerf and I think its pretty ridiculous seeing as this spell only works while the current target is alive. Once its dead there is no more benefit. Most of the groups I exp in finish off mobs pretty quick so the spell really doesn't help that much. I have heard that Illusionists have a better haste line and also can mez while they are running and have other benefits as well. I read the disgruntled Illusionists' post and it contained more fiction than fact. The enchanter classes are well balanced as they stand.</DIV>

From what I understand, this isn't a Nerf. This is to bring the coercer more in line with the Illusionist since they were far outstripping their sister class in this aspect. So I think it isn't so much a nerf as it is a balance issue. Perhaps the coercer community, instead of asking for their class to be left alone, should instead ask that the Illusionist class be moved UP to be at the same level as the coercer.Just a thought

The coercer is FAR FAR behind the illusionist in terms of balance just take a look at the posts and it becomes glaringly obvious that Coercers need an UPGRADE NOT a downgrade. And YES this is a NERF plain and simple</P> <P> </P> <P>But this is par for the course from Sony and I guess I am starting to realize I probably am just tired of the frustration of dealing with SOE as evidenced by the fact that instead of playing last night I decided to watch a movie on TV. Which is just evidence to me that the writing is on the wall for me and before you little people decide to flame that is not meant as a threat to leave just something I realized.</P><p>Message Edited by minobu on <span class=date_text>02-28-2005</span> <span class=time_text>01:37 PM</span>

<DIV>"From what I understand, this isn't a Nerf. Sometimes a nerf is really needed but i think too many times SOE takes the easy way out. To state that they were outstripping the Illusionist in this aspect indicates you think each class should be identical in every aspect. That doesn't really make any sense, each class should be stronger in different area's but balanced overall.<BR></DIV>
Everyone got nerfed (hell my monk got nerfed twice! Goodbye strength, goodbye agility). I'm sure coercers aren't the first or the last (and hopefully unlike the AGI nerf this won't make you unplayable for a week until it's "fixed".

It just really chaps me that some little whining child makes one post whining that coercers can regen such and such mana per tick that was almost all lies and conjecture as it was debunked by more than one 45+ coercer with actual facts and SOE takes that one whine and decides to break the class even more than it already was. Really just a shame because when this game started I really felt like it had alot of potential. =(</DIV>

<DIV>Hey, I feel for you guys. I'm a Shadowknight, and in the past couple of months, we've been nerfed 3 times because of the complaints of other. It sucks out loud. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For what it's worth, I hope they go a different route for you.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For a nerf bat, it sure hurts a lot.</DIV>
