A lot more people would test the new features on the Test Server if it would be possible to copy a char to the test server. So you can further playon a real server and test the new features on the test server.

I believe they are trying to keep Test as it's own independant entity that grows as a world with the people who play it like normally. Copying characters over and leaving them on live would throw it way out of wack.

I logged today on Test server. And i was happy to meet two other players on Test Server.Test Server should be to TEST things before they go live - but if there are not players who will test it?The forums from test Server are just complaining and wishlists posts from people who actually not playing on the Test Server.Another way would be to make it a lot more easier to level on TEST server.

Quite a few people play on test server, and the real test server forums are not here, they are elsewhere. If you only found two people, you didn't join the server channel TEST =D

Well I came over on the last move. And I already have a regular group I grind with pretty much every day. We test out just about everything we can.

I did. But you're right. I used search from Level 1 to 50 option and that gave only result from refugee island. Don't know why - maybe cause refugee island is not possible to search after level.. . As i doesn't checked the level option it showed me 51 players - but that is still not many players. And if you tell there are other forums, where can i find them?

There is a bug with /who right now on test server because of the new functionality they are adding for crafters. The forums most of us use can be found at http://www.eq2test.com/

Well they could do what SWG does. Run a regular test server but when they put in a radical new change copy a live server and let people test it there. The good thing is whatever you did on test copy of your live server there did not affect your live character at all. And that way you have characters of all levels to test things with. When done testing pull down the test copy of the live server, and next time use a different server to keep it fair.

Character copy provides some of the worst feedback possible... People just flit over to check out one or two things, and do them out of context. Not to mention it totally spoils all new content as people copy over to investigate all the new content and solve it before it goes live.

As for no one playing, I think at least 15 different raids went down over the past weekend on top of all the other regular hunting and questing stuff. Mentoring was tested extensively, numerous bugs were found with mentoring and many other things and should hopefully be fixed before this goes live.
No offense mate, but in one whole day you not only summised that test doesn't have enough people, but you missed a pretty obvious bug and then drafted some solutions to fixing the population problem.Don't you think you are taking things just a bit fast after your first day?

There would be a much higher possibility then of getting, say, a few hundred Paladins to test a change to their class, or a few hundred level 40-50s to test a new high level dungeon than there is likely to be under the current set up.

DAOC used this system when I played there (probably still does) and it seemed to work pretty well, allowing for spot-testing of specifics with a minimal disruption to the regular testing community.

DAOC quite possibly has, the most ineffective testing of any game on the market. Sure, from a player perspective it is great, the class changes get tested to death and you can see the effects of different character builds, but almost everything else goes completely ignored. The "everything else" btw, makes up the other 95% of the game beyond class changes. As for community on that server, it mostly ceased to exist with the implementation of the copying, that is definately a bit more than minimal dispruption and effectively removed the folks that previously had been testing that now ignored 95% of the changes made to the game.
