3) Sony made a design decision to force you to be online to sell. We must simply live with this decision. I believe on test server you can sell while you are out adventuring, so at least that part is being improved.

I saw this in another thread, and wondered if it is true?

I play exclusively on test and haven't seen this advertised yet. How could I have missed such a huge change? Or is it just wishful thinking?

Not to my knowledge.... why not test it out since you play exclusively on test? put something up for sale, go outside, and see if you are still in merchant mode.

Any update on that?

Would that mean people have to find you while you are out adventuring, or can they still buy though the brokers?

well hopefully if this is added in you can't go out and say, grind in stormhold or something.... Should be reasonably limited... Like say, only be able to go to the different areas of the city... maybe have quests / money sinks where you could get a caravan to get your merchant somewhere else? (by somewhere else I mean like say, the docks of Thundering Steppes from Qeynos)

I just tried to leave my house while in vendor mode and the store automatically closed.

Ah well, maybe one day :smileyvery-happy:

I'm hoping they'll make the house vault a way to sell items from your apartment but not require you to be there in the apartment. Or just use the banker. In EQOA you put items that were in your bank up for auction. You had to pay like a 3% fee to list it and a 5% fee if it sold. You could only have 40 items up for auction cause that's all the bank space that was allowed. As long as you're online playing you should be allowed to sell items but not be stuck in your room. If you log out of the game then you're auction items go bye bye and can't be seen by other players.

No... since the "ATTUNE EVERYTHING IN THE GAME" patch, which is going to drastically cut down on the amount of items on the market anyways, we should be able to hire a broker to sell our wares. For a commision of course. Anyone that's played DAoC(Dark Age of Camelot) knows what a good broker/selling system looks like.

Basically, you hire a NPC that stands in/at your room and holds a certain number of items for you that you set the prices for. You can be online, offline, adventuring, tradeskilling, whatever.

Being forced to stay logged into the game 24 hours a day just to get our stuff sold is so stupid.... it's beyond explanation. Think about it. To realistically sell wares, you have to BE LOGGED INTO An ONLINE GAME 24 HOURS A DAY... 7 DAYS A WEEK! Cause either you're out adventuring, or you're in Merch mode.

What an enormous and beautifully laid out game. The Quest system rocks, the graphics rock, the UI rocks... But you just have to wonder if they got some strung-out teenage intern to think up the process for selling your wares.

Foolish design.

Message Edited by Blackin_DeMaster on 02-23-2005 06:15 AM
