View Full Version : Idea on money transfers with built-in money sink
Okay I'm posting this in the test forums since the testers seem to be the only ones who actually care about the state of the game.Like alot of other folks I was a bit bummed about being able to trade items through the shared bank, but not coin, so any feedback on this idea... if it hasn't been covered yet.Have a NPC in both cities, sell gold/plat bars. You go to the NPC tell them you want gold bar worth various amounts i.e. 5g 20g 50g 1pp and up you pay the 1pp for the plat bar, but also a 10% tax on the item. In return, what this would do is turn the coins into an item that can be dropped into the shared bank slot and resold at FACE value to the same NPC or a similar one. This would solve the issue of money transfers and add a little bit of a money sink to help the economy... Not everyone has a guildmate to hold cash while you log and relog, not everyone is even trustworthy holding onto plats, I just think this could solve a few of the smaller issues.Good, bad?<p>Message Edited by Kegi on <span class=date_text>02-19-2005</span> <span class=time_text>06:41 PM</span>

<DIV>I think this is a great idea, i usually offer some coins as tip for those who help me do a transfer, however thats money thats not disappearing from the economy, just changing hands, i'd totally love to be able to do it this way, do my part removing money from the system and not have to bother some poor other person.</DIV>

<DIV>I too like this idea.. Theres another game, forgot the name, that at the bank you can turn money into a Check so that you dont have to hall around all the heavy coin.. And I thought that was cool, but the Bars would fit in better to the world.. </DIV>

<DIV>That would defeat the purpose of keeping people from twinking. If they made everything attuneable so you can't twink, why would they let you start putting bars of money into the shared bank?</DIV>
<DIV>The attuneable thing had little or nothing to do with twinking. The fact that items have minimum levels prevents any grievious forms of twinking anyway. You can still readily twink away by buying non-attuned items with one character and transfering them over to another character using the shared bank slots.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The attuneable change was to force used equipment out of the player-trade economy.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That said, I agree with the OP. Any feature which provides utility to players and simultaneously introduces another way to remove a little bit of capital from the economy is going to benefit everyone.</DIV>

<DIV>well, I think that people should find some trustworthy friends they can trust to help them transfer instead of asking the devs to do it for them. I think it's purposly done this way so those that are total jerks in the game (and yes there are many) will be stuck, with this problem. In no way do i believe Sony should support people with this issue for that exact reason. </DIV>
I think it becomes a problem when we start catering to the 'jerks' you mentioned. If SOE doesn't implement a certain idea because of a few peoples attitude, then that's the minority running the game. Unless you think the jerks far outweigh the decent players in EQ2, which I certainly don't. Also, what if that guildmate you give your 3 plat to hang on to while you relog, is one of these jerks and just ups and leaves? You're out 3 plat, they didn't break any rules, you handed over 3 plat via the trade window and accepted it, SOE wont even acknowledge a complaint about it. And giving money to your friends doesn't create a much needed money sink.

<DIV>Good idea <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>We are allowed to have more than one character per server, naturally then would expect them to have a shared economy.</DIV> <DIV>Also favor a mail-system for sending money/items - with higher penalties for sending to rival city etc..</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Keep the fun coming <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV><p>Message Edited by Flabby on <span class=date_text>02-20-2005</span> <span class=time_text>12:05 PM</span>
