View Full Version : Anyway to copy the new voiceovers to our live directories?

<DIV>Logged in to test earlier, took me about 30 minutes to download the new voiceovers.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just wondering if when they go live, will we be able to copy the files over from our test directory instead of waiting for a 30 minute download again?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I guess what I'm not sure about is since the new voices weren't in, will these core files still be the same, and then additional files for the actual voice data?  Guess I'm a little confused on whathte 300+ meg download was since it says it doesn'tactually include new voices, lol.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

That would be nice...The smart thing for the launchpad to do when (if) the voiceover patch goes live would be to look in the default Test folder...If it finds the files, verify the checksums to ensure that they're the newest version of the files, then copy them over and avoid the download.If the checksums don't match or the files are missing, go ahead and download them. It's in SOE's interest to do this, since bandwidth isn't free, and they can save a good amount of downloading. But since such a low % of players use the Test server, they probably won't bother.

actually it said the new voices weren't implemented. that download was all the new voiceover stuff. but the in game links to the optional voiceovers isn't in yet. so it's meaningless atm.i do think some kind of check in the test directory for the correct updated file would be a good idea, but it may be too hard to implement securely. most people who took the time to download the option stuff have the bandwidth to handle it anyway.
