<div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>     I've seen a lot of great movies here, and attempted one so far myself. When I started this one, I had no idea it would be over 2 months before I finished it. It's amazing how much time and work can go into a 6 minute video! At 81mb it's a bit of a download (sorry), but it can be viewed here if you want to take a look: </div><div> </div><div><a target="_blank" href="http://www.celestialmischief.org/movies/inthisworld.wmv"><font size="5">"In</font></a><font size="5"> </font><a target="_blank" href="http://www.celestialmischief.org/movies/inthisworld.wmv"><font size="5">This World and the Next</font></a><font size="5">".</font></div><div><font size="5"></font> </div><div>  BTW, you might notice 4 names in the end credits. This ended up being a fun family project, and although Wolfbeurn and Bellanaa are the characters in the movie (that would be me and my wife), our two children really did quite a bit of work and helped with scene ideas and editing, camera work and credits (including music selection). All-in-all, we really had a blast. We hope you enjoy our finished work...</div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div><span class="time_text"></span> </div><p>Message Edited by Forest_Wulfe on <span class="date_text">02-17-2006</span><span class="time_text">11:21 PM</span></p>

<div></div><div></div><p>I love the idea of these movies and habitually download them. I find something to like in most of them. But there's usually...something. Something that takes me out of the story, something that prevents me from really getting lost in it. Music that's too much, directors who worked too hard getting their footage to edit ruthlessly (scenes that drag on), immersion-breaking use of unnatural-looking emotes...something.</p><p>Not this time. You had me. For six minutes and twenty-three seconds, you had me. Right down to the stills during the credits (the chess pic was priceless). The story was simple and perfect. The music was just right, almost like another character in the story. You used so many of the subtleties available in the game (facial expressions--SO much better than emotes, the turn of her head just as the undead creature attacked).</p><p>I'm sure that one of the movie makers on this forum will be able to offer some constructive criticism, some element that could have been polished better. I don't make them, I just watch them. And I loved this movie. Of those I've seen so far, it is my favorite. I stopped showing these movies to my wife. She plays, but she's a far more conventional gal. She never got excited about these movies, never saw the point and immediately focused on their shortcomings. But I'll show her this one, and I think she'll like it. In fact I've already downloaded it to her desktop...and left a box of tissues next to her keyboard. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p><p>I never post. But I felt like I had to log on and thank you for this movie. So thanks!  <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p><p> </p><p>Thil</p><p>P.S. By the way, she finally got up and watched the movie -- and she loved it too!</p><p>Message Edited by Thilandril on <span class="date_text">02-18-2006</span><span class="time_text">06:06 AM</span></p>

<div></div><div></div><p>  Thanks all so much for your kind words. We were pretty happy with the way it turned out, but it is great to see others appreciate it as well of course! <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> After I posted the movie here, we all nervously checked back to see what kind of "reviews" we would get. Let's just say you all made my family's day! My kids are already talking about the next one (although it might be a while before I'm ready for another project...).</p><p> And Thil, I appreciate you taking the time to write such a long  thoughtful post on it. It was great to be able to see what someone else thought in detail. So thanks!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Message Edited by Forest_Wulfe on <span class="date_text">02-22-2006</span><span class="time_text">08:24 AM</span></p>

<div></div>Very well done, /sniff.  The story took me through a lot of emotions in 6 minutes.  The credits were unexpectedly wonderful as well.

*sniffles* I had to walk away from my office and compose myself after watching that. It was the most touching movie I have seen to date. Everything about it just worked -- the music, the cinematograhpy, the story. Well done!!!-- Lessa, Human Fury of Qeynos (AB)<div></div>

Luckily someone posted this on the BB forums as well or I'd have missed it.   I posted most of my thoughts there, but again:  So well done. Very very nice.  Ditto on the chess scene, though all of it was just plain outstanding.  As another poster said, there was nothing there that took "away" from the video. It's so cool to find out it was a family project as well.  Keep 'em coming!   While you do that, we will be busy at work stapling, glueing and otherwise perma-attaching you to Butcherblock. hehe

<div></div><div>Wolf and Bella - that was absolutely incredible. So simple, such a purity of theme, I think that really makes this movie work. It's touching, sad, and heartwarming all at once. You guys and your children did a wonderful job! Looking forward to seeing you in game so I can thank you personally. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></div>

My mouth is still open in awe! Your work was beautifully put together and edited perfectly to the music of Enya. I would pay to see stuff like that. I am a professional photographer and videographer; your editting was top notch and you don't even have to pay the talent. Kudos to you and your family!!<div></div>

<div></div><p>       Outstanding! This one was definetly a 2 tissue video.  You and your family have much to be proud of, and I can only imagine what any future works will be like if this was your first.  Thank you so much for sharing this.  My hubby found the thread first, we watched it together and within 2 minutes we were holding each other's hands, by the end, I had the tears streaming down my face, (he was doing quite a bit of sniffling :smileywink<img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> !</p>

I have seen quite a bit of EQ videos. And many of them I've enjoyed. But none of them got me to cry like yours did. I hope one day I can make a movie that's at least a fraction of that cinematic masterpiece that you've created.

<P>  Thanks again for the kind words. Thanks Lonissa for resurrecting this old thread. I was a bit surprised, but I do really appreciate it.</P> <P> </P> <P> I've had a couple of ideas for another movie for quite some time. But, they do take some time to make. Especially for someone like me who lacks a natural talent for such things and has to make up for it with many takes and hours of editing (as opposed to those who make them look easy... *cough* Zilreed & Zemfira *cough). We'll probably be starting it within the next week or two, but it might be a month or two (or so...) before we have a finished movie. And it will be a little diffferent flavor than this one as well, so I hope you're not disappointed with it.</P> <P> </P> <P> I did attempt one movie before this one and before I even knew anyone else was making them or posting them (it's been well over a year ago). My son and I made it just for fun, and threw it together within just a couple of days. So it's pretty crude compared to most you see posted here (obvious things such as cursor's on screen from time to time and such). After a fellow guildie suggested I post it here, I was amazed to see some great movie making styles and talent. It made me wish I would've spent a little more time on my first movie, and helped me to have an idea of how I wanted to make my next one (which would eventually be "In This World and the Next" ). But, if you want to take a look and can see past such obvious mistakes, you can find it in the EQII movies thread here: It's called   <FONT size=5></FONT><A href="http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=screen&message.id=8767" target=_blank><FONT size=3>The Trouble With Wood Elves</FONT></A>.</P> <P> </P> <P> </P> <P> </P><p>Message Edited by Forest_Wulfe on <span class=date_text>06-03-2006</span> <span class=time_text>01:57 AM</span>

And honestly Forest_Wulfe, this was the video I had in mind when I posted about people submitting to <A href="http://www.machinima.com" target=_blank>www.machinima.com</A> .  I really think this should be available someplace where it won't be lost because it slipped off the front page of the forum.</P> <P><A href="http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=screen&message.id=21719" target=_blank>http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=screen&message.id=21719</A></P> <P> </P> <P>Thil</P>
