<div></div><div></div>In all likelihood tinting will not look like this, but just a what if. First chainmail touched up with some color here and there...nothing fancy. Changed out a gold version of the polished/Fabled plate with one that has 4 versions. Swapped out one large screenshot of the blue fulginate color for 4 colored versions of fulginate. Also added some full colored versions of chainmail similar to what is being seen now coming in game. <img src="http://eq2images.station.sony.com/000/000/880/692.jpg"> Chainmail dye: <img src="http://eq2images.station.sony.com/000/000/888/736.jpg"> 4 color fulginate: <img src="http://eq2images.station.sony.com/000/000/888/387.jpg"> 4 polished/fabled shots. its tinted golden not colored like my first 4 pics <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> so the highlights are gold instead of silver. <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>to tell the differance look at my last one in the top row and the second one on the bottom row ... both are the same color just one is using a "tint" filter and the other is "color" filter <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV><p>Message Edited by TheRealDude on <span class=date_text>10-05-2005</span> <span class=time_text>07:55 AM</span>

The midnight armor looks awesome. To Petigue: Nice to find another Fireworks enthusiast. There aren't enough of us. We need to make the AwSuMnEsS of FW known to all. =P (For further example fellow readers: see my signature, done in Fireworks.) I think if I saw any monk wearing that bright purple I might have to cover my eyes. This is one fear I have with allowing users to tint their own armor - or allowing crafters to do it. Inevitably you will have people wearing the most garish schemes imaginable to mankind. (i.e. bright purple and magenta or something else akin to a "Hello Kitty" purse). lol <div></div>

<div></div>Thought I would also share some of my armour tinting experiments here.. though not as cleancut as the OP I am in the feyiron plate for the first set, and the bruiser AQ for the 2nd: First off the original: Some brightening up for luster as well: <img src="http://www.cybershelob.org/images/eq2/tint/susannahsilver.jpg"> <img src="http://www.cybershelob.org/images/eq2/tint/susannahbright.jpg"> ==== Maybe some cobolt colouring: This gold turned out to be my favourite: <img src="http://www.cybershelob.org/images/eq2/tint/susannahcobalt.jpg"> <img src="http://www.cybershelob.org/images/eq2/tint/susannahgold.jpg"> ==== More of a light and textured blue: And for those ladies who want to be a power ranger: <img src="http://www.cybershelob.org/images/eq2/tint/susannahhardblue.jpg"> <img src="http://www.cybershelob.org/images/eq2/tint/susannahpink.jpg"> === Dusty light browne (my 2nd favourite): w t f ... .. no idea, I was tired: <img src="http://www.cybershelob.org/images/eq2/tint/susannahlightbrowne.jpg"> <img src="http://www.cybershelob.org/images/eq2/tint/susannahwtf.jpg"> ==== And here is the original of the bruiser in AQ1: <img src="http://www.cybershelob.org/images/eq2/tint/original1.jpg"> == A summery golden colour: <img src="http://www.cybershelob.org/images/eq2/tint/dexgold01.jpg"> === Powderpuff blue: <img src="http://www.cybershelob.org/images/eq2/tint/dezblue01.jpg"> ==== My favourite and a dark sepia colour: <img src="http://www.cybershelob.org/images/eq2/tint/dezburnt01.jpg"> === A vile greene, but my friend decided he wanted to see greene: <img src="http://www.cybershelob.org/images/eq2/tint/dezgree01.jpg"> === some kind of orange juice orange: <img src="http://www.cybershelob.org/images/eq2/tint/dezorange01.jpg"> === blood red: <img src="http://www.cybershelob.org/images/eq2/tint/dezred01.jpg"> ========== So in conclusion how long did this take? 10-06-2005, 06:42 PM
well I did it by taking the images, outlining and selecting the various pieces I wanted to colour in Adobe Photoshop, putting them on a new layer and then either using Colour Effects (tm) or the Stain option in the blending effects to mess around with colouring, tinting and shading... its pretty easy.

Yup, definitely not hard to implement ingame - in fact it seems it already IS ingame. At character creation, choosing the colors for hair, skin, eyes, glyphes etc. and clothing(!) - it is ingame, they just need to extend it to every clothing item ingame. <div></div>

<DIV>the two easiest ways i know if in Fireworks are to either cut out the armor pieces or do what i did and use a brush on a new layer and paint over them.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>then take that and add a color fill effect to it and fill it with the color you want then change that layer to be either the "color" or "tint" filter.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>using the same filters i took this image i got from ogaming:</DIV> <DIV><IMG src="http://68.51.43.174/paladin.jpg"></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>and colored it for use a sig i did recently:</DIV> <DIV><IMG src="http://68.51.43.174/paladin.colored.jpg"></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><IMG src="http://68.51.43.174/moto3.jpg"></DIV> <P>(yes i realize the colors arnt exactly the same but thats because i didnt save my final version of it before cutting and pasting into the sig heh.)</P><p>Message Edited by TheRealDude on <span class=date_text>10-06-2005</span> <span class=time_text>10:00 AM</span>

Dont sell yourself short...those all look awesome. Feyiron is tricky to work with in that the armor looks flat and has no depth to it. Unlike some of the other armor suits where you can see glint, glare, and reflections in the metal - feyiron has no luster to it. Almost looks as if the shine was sandblasted off. <span>:smileyhappy:</span> The cobalt, white, and gold colored ones are my favorites. The Bruiser AQ ones are all great. Sadly, even if those color options were available - the outfit itself really isnt visible anymore in the game. By the late 20s and on the majority of Brawlers are already wearing Light Armor pieces. The dark sepia and blood red are my faves there. </span><div></div>

That midnight fabled gear is my exact mental picture of what I wanted T6 fabled plate to look like. Excellent job, I just wish little changes like this could be made in the game, I know tinting the armor cant require the amount of time they said creating new armor would. They just added blue tint to some of the chain armor yesterday, one of guildies looked very nice in it.

<DIV>unless the art dept has figured out how to desaturate and retint on the fly you need to remember your color will be going over the original or 'base' color of the armor. so light and/or muted tones will be ruined or at least muddied. This is one of the problems presented in EQ1. They'll need to either create armor skins that have no color or color over the top of the original. I'd rather see them come up with a set of reasonable ranged 'natural' colors to offer rather than allow RGB sliders to create some of the eye bleeding colors I saw in EQ1.</DIV>

Thats brilliant! I wish SOE had better art devs, this is getting rediculous, I just got my new month of eq2 game card and already I feel so bland compared to something even as simple as guild wars, which I enjoy becuase of the feel. I love that Midnight polished parade, if they had actual usuable armor that looked like that with the new midnight tint, id be in love with this game ^ ^ The wood elven monk with different colored gi, WOW! What a difference, I mourn the loss of competant game makers <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> <div></div>

<P><FONT color=#ff3300>If it were me I would add a ton of new armor into the game, because there isin't enough variety, but if they can't even do tinting then they should at least start by it. The tinting on the one who opened the thread are awsome, just amazing and would add great inmercity in clothing, they should really try taking notes from here and see what a diference can be made in armor just by changing its color.</FONT></P> <P><FONT color=#ff3300>Good Luck!</FONT></P>

Please, the suspense is killing me..Soe, do SOMETHING, it really would be simple to tint a few things and bam! New flavor to the game, even a simple black robe, pure black, would be ideal for me and my dark mage which I havnt touched because he looks like a priest, a badly dressed priest.. I would love for that midnight color to be on armors, and maybe a winged helm of simular make, that would be..divine... Do it! You know you want to, you want people to enjoy your game..dont hold out because its easier.. <p></p>

The annoying thing is, that i know there are some nice robes in the game, just very low lvl robes. For example I found this Soft Fur Robe with my lvl 15 Paladin, If only i could find a Lvl 40-60 robe in the same style, or with a few different colour combinations. For those of you artistically inclined, this is a nightmare screengrab to tint. <img src="http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/cheesy50/robe3.jpg"> <p></p>

I very musch so agree that armour tinting would add soo much more flavor to the game. the brawler outfits look darn good the first models are awsome! the colors are not loud and crazy like in eqlive. the only thing i can honestly say to bad mouth it is what if i had a piece of each color? try making a model with different piece color combos and see if that would look hideous. if it does, that is why soe prolly hasnt done it thus far. although i have seen a pally with cloth pants, chain sleeves and and a breastplate. looked real wierd. lol. but whatever floats your boat i gess. i still would like to be able to dye my robes. just got rid of my crap brown D'morte robe to get yet again a white vest and pants. can we say mundane? that is boring, granted i hav alot ahead me adventurewise, i would think sony would like to out do it competitors in terms of aesthetics, given the quality of our game, lookswise. <P>Get on the ball and release dyes in the next expansion!</P>

<DIV>Quite nice... they did it in EQ1, and I know some people complained because they lost the uniqueness of their high tier gear. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Solution? allow tinting for all, but make each level gear unique in their patterns, and more elaborate for fabled. </DIV> <DIV>Voila... unique for each level! This isn't that difficult, and would make people so much happier... I didn't care that much until I got my t6 robe, now I would like to look unique...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ael</DIV>

I'd love to see evil looking Shadow Knights and holy divine looking Paladin Knights in EQ2. Also I'd like to see dark sinister Warlocks and Wizards with stars and moons and more wizardly brighter flashy coloured robes. If they give people ability to tint their armour, then Shadow Knights might choose black and red, and Paladins might choose the lighter holy and divine colours, but whats stopping them from choose black and red? or a Shadow Knight from choosing white? When you run through the world and see someone, will you recognise their class? What would you really prefer, player tints or the devs to make class distinct equipment and more variation that fits within each classes theme? <div></div>

Anything, I would like to see anything added to add more depth to the game. It is needed. Not only do people of different classes look the same, but characters of Hugh level differences look the same. That is the most shocking thing of it all. We need to distinguish ourselves among each other and level. Adding different tints would just be a START to what this gae needs in the variety department.
