My first attempt at a 360 screenshot, not bad but it gets a little large at higher resolutions

Message Edited by sootyuk on 09-07-2005 05:34 PM

/cl_screenshot_orbit_count x sets the number of pics in 1 orbit then /cl_screenshot_orbit actualy takes it. on an action shot everything even freezes in place during the orbit so that the shot looks nice. I did a really quick job stitching these together using animation shop, came free with paintshop pro. It literally only takes a min to make.

I've done a couple at 360 frames 240x188 they looks outstanding, but unfortunately the gif ends up about 8meg. The original screenshots are over 1.5gig on the disk too I've stuck a sample here if anyone wants to see the sort of thing you can make. but its 8meg

sootyuk wrote:on an action shot everything even freezes in place during the orbit so that the shot looks nice.

okay another newb question.. you say everything freezes. does that mean if I was fighting some uber mob and wanted to get some great action shots..and it freezes, said mob would still keep hitting me? I mean I don't want to go in as a healer and start taking shots only to have my group die since my action is frozen...right? :smileysurprised:

I assume you'll freeze as if you were lagging, but i've not noticed anything like that.

I think they use tga as its much higher quality than jpg. Most paint programs will open tga, I am using jasc painshop pro, which had animation shop with it. Can get a trial version off the net to try it out. After doing this i wish it were possible to take a series of screenshots to capture an emote.

you can with fraps then just import it in as a gif .... i know macromedia can do it as well as "Gif Animation Studio" heh

Hey guys, I'm having some trouble with this. I used the command /cl_screenshot_orbit 100 and it froze up and the camera rotated around my character and such.

But then afterwards I cannot seem to locate where my screenshots are!
