<DIV>I've only seen this happen MAYBE once a week. But was just curious if anyone else has seen it</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I hit conceal and start going down the line into my backstabs but when i get to either jugular, or eviscerate it wont let me, i just get about 3 errors saying "will not take effect" after about 3 spams of that message it casts.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>it never happened on any named encounter only on trash. I know for sure it has happened in Nest, Labs, and Lyceum</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyone know what happened?</DIV>

i'm going to guess it's jugular and it's because the mob was just stifled by something else. there are effects in place to keep epic mobs from being chained stifled / stunned. that's my guess as to what it is.i've seen this once or twice myself but never paid enough attention to what ca i was casting at the time.<div></div>

<div></div>I get this a lot when I hit a mob with Scraping Blow. It doesn't matter if it's an epic, heroic, or a trash mob. I started seeing this about 2 or 3 game updates ago, not exactly sure when, but I don't remember seeing it prior to those. But for some reason it seems I have about a 50/50 chance to see the "would not take effect" text pop up on the screen when I use Scraping Blow.I have to assume that it just means the DOT effect of the CA didn't take hold (possibly because the DOT from a previous usage hasn't run out yet), but a message that it was resisted would probably be more appropriate. As it is right now the message makes it seem like the CA was used on a mob that is immune to the effect, but that wouldn't make sense considering I'll use Scraping Blow quite a few times per fight and I'll only see it about half the time. And like I said it happens on all mobs to me regardless of whether its epic, heroic, or solo.I'm curious about this too and would like to hear an official word on exactly what this message pertains to.<div></div>

I think, not sure though, that is probably is when you already have Swindlers luck active, and you complete the HO to get it again. It happens solo alot to me (if changing the wheel will not bring up Ringing Blow). If you have another scout in the group spamming HOs this is likly the case <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />Started to act this way for me since they changed TS buffs so they could not overlap them selves a few GUs ago.<div></div>

<DIV>Thats when I notice the message come up is with Swindler's Luck and its wierd cause it doesnt do it all the time. It still should let you cast the CA though so I dont know about that, I have never myself been unable to cast a CA cause it wouldnt take effect. It could be that it was Swindlers Luck and your CAs were going off and the message was just because you couldnt complete swindlers luck and since you are chaining abilities it spams.</DIV>

aye, with the swindlers luck thing...the CA is going off fine, its the buff on you that generating the 'will not take effect' - not long back there was a change that stopped certain buffs from being able to be refreshed before they ran out, swindlers luck was changed then i think - as to it happing with other things unrelated to HO's...just a thought, but were there any other assassins around at the time? might be a stacking issue with Excessive bleeding?<div></div>

<DIV>It's when the epics have a stifle immunity from a previous/current stifle. You can't use a stifle skill then, which Jugular is.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also can happen when you use Mark and there's another assassin's up.</DIV>

I have seen this happen with Swindler's. If the buff is running and I trigger it again, I get that message. Similarly, when I duo with a Ranger, if I use Poison Combination and the debuff from his Poison Combination is already on the target, I get the same message. And as UberCiz indicates, the TS skills do the same thing now. If you use a T6 durability buff then try to cast the same T5 progress buff before the former runs out, you will see that same message.</P> <P>Thus, both are correct. It will trigger on HOs if the buff from the HO is already running, and it will trigger on CAs, Spells, or TS buffs if the effect or a secondary effect is already on the target.</P> <P>There is one caveat, however. Someone mentioned that refeshing is prevented. That is not necessarily true. In some cases, it depends on the power of art/buff being cast. For instance, if you do a T6 TS buff followed by the same T5 one, you will get the message. However, if you do a T5 TS buff followed by a T6, the T6 should overwrite the lower one. The same will be true in some other cases. A more powerful skill will often overwrite a lower or lesser effect.</P><p>Message Edited by Sotaudi on <span class=date_text>01-31-2007</span> <span class=time_text>12:54 PM</span>
