<DIV>This is kind of weird to me. I was playing around with some slashing weapons, so I thought I'd compare damage based on the multiplier. From tonight's zone (Freethinkers), I did:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Dirk of Negativity: 642k dmg, 1123 hits, 78% to hit, 177 crits</DIV> <DIV>Qeynos: 612k dmg, 1397 hits, 77% to hit, 253 crits</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The DoN has a +12 pierce adornment as well.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The thing I can't figure out is, the DoN has a better damage spread, and I have more piercing than slashing, yet if you take out the adornment's ~13k of dmg (629k total), the damage difference is 2.1%. It seems like there should be a bigger difference between a 3:1 and a 5+:1 weapon, or is it just not very apparent without a GDoH's 10:1 or so? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any comments?</DIV>

Hmm I'd have to add it all up but I think around 20-22%? I haven't tried buffing it specifically. Can you list the gear & the potion you use to up it?

There's the crit hit cloak. This comes from one of the quests in MMC from Edge. Not hard to do at all, 90 minutes tops. There's a better one from IS which has 2% crit and 25% haste. This will allow us to finally look for a bracelet replacement for the amulet from death toll access.<a href="http://eq2players.station.sony.com/items/item_profile.vm?itemId=146148" target=_blank>Dedicated Wrap</a> - 2 %The neck piece from KoS - Mark of the Awakened quest line. Last quest is a raid but could be done with 2 groups<a href="http://eq2players.station.sony.com/items/item_profile.vm?itemId=126097" target=_blank>Mark of the Awakened Instinct</a> - 2%The earring if from the League series of quests starting in the town of Sombourne<a href="http://eq2players.station.sony.com/items/item_profile.vm?itemId=146214" target=_blank>Earring of the League of Guardians</a> - 2%The bracelet is from the same line, it's the last quest I think. First item is a ring but it's not so good.<a href="http://eq2players.station.sony.com/items/item_profile.vm?itemId=146218" target=_blank>Bracelet of the League of Guardians</a> - 2 %So with 8 in the crit line you have 15.2% crit chance ( i believe - not logged in atm ) + 8 % from gear + 7.5% from a bard = 31% crit chance.Add 4 % from a tactics potion and the majority of the time you can run at 35% crits. Now, what I've not done out is what's better str or crit %-age and at what str. levels ? this will obviously take some time. i'm wondering if anyone has parsed dmg from str to see where returns start to really diminish.<div></div>

<DIV>Speaking of the Qeynos Cutlas, I still haven't read a good reason why this is such a terrible DW.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The proc'd AE immunity and the reduced CA damage taken sounds like a winner to me over a weapon proc.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm currently using Wurmy and Talonsreach with a +12 piercing adornment, but I'm debating using the Cutlass</DIV> <DIV>over the Talon; because it has better stats, a larger damage spread and +5 ranged/slashing. The only argument</DIV> <DIV>I've read on this subject is things along the lines of 'Trust me it sucks' & 'Shoulda got the 1hander Claymore reward.'</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So between The Wurmslayer, Qeynos Cutlass, Talonsreach & Adamantine Dragonfang; which would you use?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Maybe it's zone based as there is lots of AE in HoS, but not so much in Labs, etc.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Betraying from a Ranger I never really had to worry about which weapon I was using as most of the time I had Ice Forged Sai's equipped, because they procd an AE cold attack off my bow attacks which was nice. </DIV>

Splitting melee between pierce and slashing seems wrong to me. It's god to have both though (AD, etc)<div></div>
