I really like what i'm hearing about the assassin class, but my main concern is i'll have to start out in freeport and even though evil is fun to me, freeport isn't too much my style. Is there a way i can start out as an assassin but travel to a place like Kelethin to level up and do quests?

What would you guys do in a situation like this where u don't wanna be in an empty city like freeport but still be an assassin? Lol

There are good assassins that live in Kelthin and Qeynos. They have slightly different skills ie they would rather stand back in their green tights and plink arrows from afar. They also have extra skills like flower aranging, talking to birds and hairdressing. Thier sexuality is a little obscure and sometime are camp as a row of tents but generally arent bad people. They dont like being called assassins though because its too "wuff and manly" for them so they like to be called " wangers ~ ".

But seriously, Freeport is the town for you. Sure we dont bother with things like flower arangements etc but FP is a far superior place to live and if you want to be a cold hearted killer there is no better place (actually there is NO other place full stop). This isnt going to hamper you in anyway with your adventuring anyway.

...or you could just go and wear green tights.

Regards

Lol well put for your answer. The answer i'm looking for would be different though. Like technically is it possible to be around kelethin or qeynos without being shot at? I'm a newbie so i'm not sure how factions work or whatever.

Well unless you are in pvp the only thing you have to worry about as far as faction is city guards. In the past they would throw you out of the city regardless of levl but since they now con like mobs its essentially agro you are avoiding from the guards. As a low level stay out of the city proper, the guards will destroy you, at 70 though I run around qeynos pretty freely since all but one zone has grey guards , just avoiding the epics in north qeynos. As far as adventuring go anywhere do anything, just know that guards are most likely going to be higher than you and will attack on sight.

My esteemed colleague Skorpeo is correct.. on many many levels. After about lvl 15-20 you won't really spend any time in Freeport (or Qeynos, or Kelethin) apart from repairing, shopping, or tradeskilling. Most of the places to adventure are fairly safe for evil characters so don't worry about starting in Freeport.
Message Edited by MrHell on 11-22-2006 03:54 PM

I don't particularly like freeport, but once you're about level 20 it's really not important anymore.

When EoF launched, I created a new evil character, and since I wanted to experience the new continent, I traveled at lvl 7 to Greater Faydark and Kelethin to meet up with my [Removed for Content] fay friends I could get quests, ask guards etc etc and had no problems doing so. The only exception was a single epic guard in the middle of Kelethin who didnt like my presence hehe. So its no problem. Oh except that no vendor wants to trade with you, so you will have to do all your selling and mending at the neutral ground up by the Combined Towers.gl hf

There is also the option of going Exile you lose out on some Benefits but you dont have to be in Freeport although from my experience Haven is worse than FP.

At first, I hated Freeport... The dreary textures, mossy walls, rain stained porchways and the filth. But nowaday, I love it. Freeport is my home. The backstabbing, the trite honesty, the we-don't-give-a-damned-and-why-are-you-talking-to-me attitude. Ahh, love...I had a character for a short time in G.h.e.y-nos, err I mean Qeynos and if I ever hear "Hey Friend, how bout a nice cup of JUM-JUM?" I will show them just how the 'garrote' skill gets its name...(Edit: wow, the language filter traps g.h.e.y...how g.h.e.y...)

Message Edited by Dracorat on 11-22-2006 11:33 AM

I am in a similar situation, I currently have a ranger in Qeynos that I'd like to betray to an assassin only I don't want to live in Freeport. And so I wonder if the following is possible.First betray to Freeport and become an assassin, then start betraying back to Qeynos but stop the quest on the last step. Would you have enough status with Qeynos to be allowed into the city and speak to merchants and receive quests etc?And although I assume you can't buy a house no matter your status unless you complete the betrayal, would it be possible to not relinquish ownership of it when you first betray to Freeport and then be able to enter it as normal while being Exile? Or maybe it's possible to have an alt set you as trustee in a house?

you guys are really being nit picky over what town you live in, who cares really? its just a place to bank, use the broker and put crap in yer house... thats it. it has no effect on gameplay, just live in freeport, that or be exile.

You are really nit picky over people caring about where they live, who cares really? It's just a post on a forum, read it or disregard it... thats it. It has no efftect on life, just try to post something helpful, that or simply don't.

NNFM- the point is, if you like the class, play the class, who cares where you live? It has no effect on end game play at all. To be tossing around if you want to play a class or not because of its home city on a pve server , and you have the ability to group with all factions, why make something easy into something hard? ...

I belive my post was helpful, realize its not a big issue, the most important is that a person plays the class they enjoy most imo, not small issues like where do they live, you do not really spend much time in town to care.

Message Edited by vejai on 11-26-2006 04:03 AM

Yhea, I guess you're right and I will probably betray even if I have to live in Freeport, just wanted to know if there was any loop hole that would allow me to be in Qeynos even as an assassin.

Nope, you gotta live in FP at this time, or Maj'Dul. Kelethin is a good city and not an option, either.

1) You don't have to live anywhere. Just need a place with bank/trade/mender/broker. Assassin's don't need a house, in fact, they tend to put a bullseye on the Assassin and give away his location.

2) You can do all of these things in Kelethin, mostly at the nursery.

3) While in FP, do the "Tie That Binds" quest and now you can bind in Kelethin too.

Luck!

Message Edited by Malkosha on 11-30-2006 11:40 AM
