<DIV>75% of my deaths are due to safe fall, I used to find a sweet hill to run up, jump off till safe fall went up but now I am ethier to low that safe fall won't go up or to high that I die. Basic what happen is this, rolloed a new Assassin going to get safe fall up cool, I jump off the towers till I am blue in the face and nothing safe fall not going up ok must get a little higher. I find a hill that is just a little higher than the tower and I am talking just a few feet higher, I jump and die. Am I not understanding this new Safe Fall can someone explain to me what I am doing wrong please.</DIV>

I think there may be a bug in Safe Fall ATM, I do alot of stupid things and was always getting safe fall points for jumping from huge heights, now... Nothing... I haven't moved a point since EoF launch, and believe me, I've tried. Though again, I reserve the right to be wrong, if someone else has seen an increase in safe fall points, please post up.<div></div>

As long as you didnt completely mitigate the jump it should do a roll for a skillup.  It should actually be much easier to skillup now than in the past since it uses a simpler roll than in the past.

<DIV>But the problem is exactly that, if we mitigate the damage we don't get a skill check to see if it goes up. So we go find a hill or something that does damage to us when we jump off, problem is only hills that are biggest enough to give us skill ups kill us.</DIV>

All I know is that as a level 60 dirge who jumps off everything (whether deliberately or not :p), I still only have a safefall skill of 132/303. I guess I've just been lucky enough to mitigate the full damage most of the time... and when I do take damage (die lol), I never seem to get a darned skillup <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />.

Try getting a cloak with an adornment of silver lining (reduces falling damage by a percentage).  You will still be taking damage from a fall, but less likely that it will be fatal.<div></div>

That would sure explain why I've been stuck at around 340 forever. Don't get me wrong. I'm glad that Safe Fall keeps me safe! But I just gotta max out that skill :smileytongue: </P> <P>If we die, do we still get a skill check? </P>

<P>If the fae float already how exactly do they train safe fall?</P> <P>There doesn't seem to be any way to train it as you wish.</P>

Hmm...  wierd.  Cause I use to get occasional skill ups for jumps where safefall prevented damage.  Getting damaged just seemed increase likelihood of skill up.  I've been at 350 for awhile now though...  Of course I always seem to critically fail my safefall checks on the old system so I took lots of damage. <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

<DIV>Try different places on the hill to jump from.  The trick is to jump from the spot that causes a little bit of damage and just work your way up the hill as you skill up.  The hill next to the TT zone in from Commonlands is perfect for this.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

I got a few skill ups last night on my 70 swashy jumping off tall things in faydwer.. haven't seen a skill up in some time til last night.  <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></div>

Once you get above 250 or so, Qeynos mage tower is your friend. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />  Not sure if there's an equivalent for Freeporters... though the Zek mine shaft is a good alternative too.. there's no instant port back to the top like Qeynos, but If you send the elevator down from the top, you can do a series of leaps to various ledges on the way down, and once you get good at it, you can usually beat the elevator to the ground floor.  <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

I used to be able to jump from the ledge where Hidden Cache is and take a little damage, with the new system, it doesn't matter where I land I can't take damage, and I've found no spots that will not crit me if I jump from them. So I guess I'm stuck with a lousy safe fall.As for the mount... why worry about safe fall on a Fae? My friends and I enjoy the floating and don't care about safe fall... Then again my fae is a fury with no safe fall. Oh, if you guys want a good time, go hangliding in TT down to HR, just don't miss the island, last time I did that I had to get my friend to CoH me. I think it was a bug, but I didn't die falling over the edge, I just kinda floated there. So I reported it, not sure if they fixed it yet.<div></div>

Jumping to the Hidden Refuge now means I either live, or I die. Its still about 50/50 but fun none the less.

<blockquote><hr>Aeralik wrote:<div></div>As long as you didnt completely mitigate the jump it should do a roll for a skillup.  It should actually be much easier to skillup now than in the past since it uses a simpler roll than in the past.<hr></blockquote> That's actually wrong. You can still skill up if you take no damage at all. I stopped taking damage from jumping off the gryphon towers at like 10 safefall, yet I continued up into the 30's in skill last night just jumping off one. The rate of skill increase did not go down, nor was it easier when I did take damage from the fall. It went up like once every 5-10 jumps the whole time. Actually the only time I got 2 skill ups in a row was at like 29 and 30 or something around that.<div></div>
