Here is a breakdown of the deities that an Assassin can choose. Being evil we can only choose Evil or Neutral deities. I have highlighted Rallos Zek as I feel this will be the best for us, however you are free to worship as you choose. I didn't really get to test any of the abilities because I was focused on testing AAs so this is just information, but you will be able to get a good idea of what is out there.

Rallos Zek

Tier 1:

Zek's Rending (Blessing)
Target: Self
Casting: 2.5 sec
Recovery: Instant
Recast: 1 Hour
Duration: 10 Min

- Reduces reuse timer of combat arts by 15% and increases the damage amount of combat arts by 15%.
- Special: See description.

Retribution of Rallos (Miracle)
Target: Self
Casting: 2.5 sec
Recovery: Instant
Recast: 1 Hour
Duration: 1 Min

- When target dies this spell will cast Vengeance on target's attacker.
- Inflicts 1713-3182 divine damage on target.
- Inflicts 1713-3182 divine damage on target.
- Heals caster for 25% of max health.
- Inflicts 1713-3182 divine damage on target.
- Inflicts 1713-3182 divine damage on target.
- Grants a total of 1 triggers of this spell.
- Special: See description.

Tier 2:

Battle Chaos (Blessing)
Target: Self
Casting: 2.5 sec
Recovery: Instant
Recast: 1 hour
Duration: 10 min

- Reflects the effect at 15% of its cast level.
- Increases STA and STR of caster by 46-86.
- Decreases Defense of caster by 7-21.
- Increases Crushing, Slashing, and Piercing of caster by 23-43.
- Special: See Description.

Tactical Retreat (Miracle)
Target: Self
Casting: 0.10 sec
Recovery: Instant
Recast: 1 hour
Effect Radius: 50 meters

- Teleports caster and caster's group within the zone.
- Special: See Description.

Tier 3:

War's Enlightenment (Blessing)
Target: Self
Casting: 2.5 sec
Recovery: Instant
Recast: 1 hour
Duration: 10 min

- When target strikes a death blow this spell will cast War Wisdom on caster. Basically think Bone Clasped Girdle, though 100% proc rate. For necromancers, it's like an extra lich proc without the lifetap portion. The recast is harsh, meaning if raiding you'll really have to make SURE it's up for the named, but when using it, it'll be awesome.

Wrath of the Burning Prince - 1125 Favor
Target: Self
Casting: 1.5 seconds
Recovery: Instant
Recast: 1 hour
Duration: 10 minutes

Effects:

* If the next spell cast is fire-based, it will inflict massive damage.
* Makes caster always do critical damage on spell attacks
* Special: See Description

Notes: Fairly bad because this spell only procs on next damage, and then is gone. So for wizards or other fire-casters it might be kinda-OK, but for everyone else it's merely a single guaranteed crit. Quite bad.

Teir 2: - Granted upon completing 2nd Quest, "Ro's Infernal Device" (35)

Blessing of Solusek - 875 Favor
Target: Self
Casting: 1.5 seconds
Recovery: Instant
Recast: 1 hour
Duration: 10 minutes

Effects:

* Increases Mitigation of caster vs heat damage by 2240 - 3360
* When target takes this spell will always cast Soothing Fire on caster.
o Heals caster for 112 - 208
* Special: See Description

Notes: no, that's not a typo of mine, but the effect doesn't actually say WHEN the heal proc is triggered. I would guess it is on heat damage, but that is a pure guess. If you know that you're going up against a heat-AE mob, this could be really great both for the mit and for the slight heal proc, but I would say that the heal isn't worth a LOT if you're against something that requires an extra 3k heat mitigation, and if you're hit frequently enough for the proc to be good, you probably don't need the mitigation as much. Bump the heal amount IMO to make it better.

Sun Sphere - 1312 Favor
Target: Enemy
Casting: 1.5 seconds
Recovery: Instant
Recast: 1 hour
Duration: 24 seconds
Range: Up to 35.0 meters

Effects:

* Summons a limited pet to aid the caster
* Special: See Description

Notes: Seems like a standard swarm pet like necromancers and summoners get, though with a re-cast of an hour, it's even worse than the item drop in DT that gives a triggerable swarm pet that has a half-hour re-cast. Unless this thing is a complete ball of fury that does 10k+ damage before it expires, I'd say this is a waste of favor due to the extreme re-cast time.

Teir 3: - Unknown when it is unlocked

Inferno's Glory - 1000 Favor
Target: Self
Casting: 1.5 seconds
Recovery: Instant
Recast: 1 hour
Duration: 10 minutes

Effects:

* The duration and damage of all heat-based spells is increased by 20%.
* Special: See Description

Notes: Good for any classes that are mainly heat-based (wizards, wardens to a lesser degree), but completely useless for those without heat-based spells.

Solusek's Soothing Scorch - 1500 Favor
Target: Self
Casting: 1.5 seconds
Recovery: Instant
Recast: 1 hour
Duration: 1 minute

Effects:

* On a successful hostile spell this spell will always cast Sooth on caster.
o Heals caster for 10% of max health
o Increases power of caster by 10%
* Grants a total of 5 triggers of the spell.
* Special: See Description

Notes: Definitely a worth-getting ability for raiders. Essentially, if you're nearly out of power, use this, and you've got another half-bar of mana. Also potentially useful for Crusaders, as their offensive spells should also trigger this, letting them have more power for taunting, though their fighting style means it is unlikely that many will take the entire deity for this one ability. But unless your heroic fights have a tendancy to run extreme durations, this is a raid-oriented ability.

Teir 4: - Unknown when it is unlocked

Solusek's Gift - 1125 Favor
Target: Self
Casting: 1.5 seconds
Recovery: Instant
Recast: 1 hour
Duration: 10 minutes

Effects:

* Heat-based spells are 30% harder for your enemies to resist.
* Special: See Description

Notes: Even raiding, this spell seems only marginally useful unless mob resists are getting a LOT harder to penetrate than they used to be. And it's only for fire spells too, not all of them, so class usefulness is restricted as well. Quite marginal IMO.

Spear of the Sun - 1687 Favor
Target: Self
Casting: 1.5 seconds
Recovery: Instant
Recast: 1 hour
Duration: 1 minute

Effects:

* Reduces reuse timers, casting timers, and power cost of fire-based spells by 50%.
* Summons a pet Spear of the Sun
* Special: See Description

Notes: Awesome if a fire-using class, though restricted to them. The pet is a big unknown on this, which could make it "good" if it DID something, but that is completely unknown. So it's either useless for a non-fire class, or the added effect could be worth it. But again, awesome for wizards, up in the air for everybody else.

Teir 5: - Unknown when it is unlocked

Servant of Flame - 1250 Favor
Target: Self
Casting: 1.5 seconds
Recovery: Instant
Recast: 1 hour
Duration: 10 minutes

Effects:

* Summons a pet servant of flame
* Special: See Description

Notes: if this is a controllable pet like other summoner pets, this could be quite godly for whomever takes it. Likely a fire-wizard type like Conjurors get, but this is purely speculation. Not enough information here to say whether this is good/bad/mediocre.

Incineration - 1875 Favor
Target: Enemy
Casting: 1.5 seconds
Recovery: Instant
Recast: 1 hour
Range: Up to 10.0 meters

Effects:

* Inflicts 100% of max health in heat damage on target
o If Target is not Epic
* Inflicts 13033 heat damage on target
o If Target is Epic
* Special: See Description

Notes: Because power cost is not found in popup descriptions, this ability could be a once-an-hour free manaburn, or a manaburn equivalent that simply kills the opponent (if non-epic). Definitely neat, though again, until somebody actually unlocks it to see the power cost, this is an unknown.

Brell Serilis

Tier 1
Patience of the Smith (750)
Increases Chemistry, Scribing, Artistry, Sculpting, Fletching, Metalworking, Metal Shaping, Tailoring and Artificing of caster by 15
Increases critical success chance and success chance by 5%

Rift from Below (1125)
6s duration, max AE targets 15
Inflicts 2190-5109 crushing damage on targets in Area of Effect
Inflicts 344-803 crushing damage on targets in Area of Effect every 3 seconds_Throws target back

Tier 2
Stature of Serilis (875)
Shrinks caster by 50%
Increases Mitigation of caster vs all physical, heat and cold damage by 1050

Brell's Favor (1312)
Increases progress and durability by 4500

Tier 3
Earth's Vigil (1000)
Increases out-of-combat power regeneration per tick of caster by 15
Increases out-of-combat health regeneration per tick of caster by 15
Increases max health of caster by 250
Increases max power of caster by 250

Forgehammer (1500)
Stuns target
Inflicts 6100-7455 divine damage on target
Epic targets duration is reduced to 3s

Tier 4
Pick of the Duke (1125)
Summons a pet Pick of the Duke
Increases Mining of caster by 25

Armies of the Underfoot (1687)
Summons a limited pet to aid the caster (x7)

Tier 5
Brell's Hammer (1250)
Summon 1 Brell's Hammer

Protection of Brell (1875)
Increases Mitigation of caster vs all physical damage by 3500
Applies The Hand of Brell on termination
- Heals group members for 30% of max health

there are a series of quests you have to do to get faith points. than you go pray at your altar and you are able to spend them on the abilities. I didnt mess with it too much so I dont know it in detail, but that is the basics.

The way it works is just as the previous poster stated...you do a series of quests building faction and need to pray at the altar. The altar is a reward you receive for your first quest and another quest later down the line. You can also get altars made by crafters. The better the altar the less the cost of the Miracle or Blessing. Blessings usually have a duration of 10 minutes but can only be recast every hour, Miracles are usually instantaneous but can be recast once per hour and are pretty powerful. You can use a Blessing or Miracle twice before having to go back to your altar and pray and pay more faction, so the Miracle or Blessing should only be used when necessary. You can only have one Blessing or Miracle at any one time and need to complete quests to unlock each level of Miracle/Blessing. Completing the first quest line gives you access to the first tier of Miracles/Blessing, completing the second gives you access to teh second and so on and so forth.

In Beta my assassin chose Innoruuk. On one of the quests you get a pet that increases Str and Int. At first in Beta he appeared to be a Meatbeast but later they changed it to a mini-mummy(I liked the Meatbeast better btw). The altar for Inny looks like a large round stone table with a skull on it and a symbol on the skull's forehead. One of the Blessings I chose was one where it gave me 4 Minions of Hate that followed me around for 10 minutes which I could sic on mobs...they appeared to be large imps and were pretty tough. The Miracle I chose was a Harm Touch ability that also mezzed the mobs after they took damage. The damage I dealt with the HT was 7k. One previous Miracle I chose summoned a ^^^up even con tentacled blob that killed a werewolf in the Loping Plains before I even got a good look at the pet.

Also, along the way you receive jewlery and a cloak with your deity's symbol on it. The quest lines are fun, quick and somewhat simple. The running around that you do is not too terrible and though the abilities you can receive are pretty powerful, you should save them until you really need them...that is their balancing point.

Message Edited by Ghostbear on 11-06-2006 08:34 PM

I would have to agree with the OP. Zek looks to be a great choice. Though they all have good points to them, RZ looks the best to me. It's a shame Rangers won't have Cazic as a choice the fears would be awesome for them. Hit the frontal shots on the mobs way in, fire off the fear and hit the stealth/backshots as they run away. That would almost convince me to betray back to the big Q.

maybe it's just me, but i see the gods pretty laid out by class. Zek for scouts, innourok for fighter, mages get the next 2, and tanks for Brell as well. Dunno what the healers'll do though... maybe brell for the power regen didn't look too closely.

while i havent used the battle rage yet, i assume the way it works is for 10 min you get the crit and dps, after that 10 min you take the dmg. as with most blessings ive seen its a give and take.
