I think you should mark as soon as possible and start with dot/debuff/autoattack before the backstabs, don't remember at your lvl but later the largest part of your dps will come frommark and auto attack (+ proc caustic poison and eventually proc buff from others) you can expect for around 900dps just with this, with backstabs and if you kill the encounter fast enoughyou can reach 2k+ dps I usually get around 1k5 if the fight take more than 1min. But it depends on the group/raid setup and your stuff.Forget about my english, I tried :smileywink:

Don't worry about the english my friend, you did great! Tres Bon! Thanks for the advice! So are you saying open up with those verses the big ticket stealthed backstab?

Something like this?

(Melee)

1) Slip Away

2) Vunerable Mark

2.5) Auto-attack

3) Hero Opp

4) Torment (coin-starts Hero opp)

5) Insidious Cut

6) Seeping Wound

7) Numbling Strike

Cheap Shot

9) Cut

9.5-"3") Hero Opp

10-"0") Torment (Coin-starts Hero Opp)

11-"-") Insidious Cut

12-"=") Moor

I usually open up with the low dmg/quick refreshing stealth attack (punch blade at 50, not sure what it is at 70), mark, and then put in cut, seeping wound, and third dot (forgot name off of the top of my head) sometimes throwing in a HO during this, and then cheap shot, the dmg/stealth attack (again forgot name, sorry =p ) and a back attack. If the mob is still standing, then I usually root it, back up, hit our ranged double shot, imporvised weapon, and just bow autoattack it till root breaks, rinse repeat etc.

I take it that the discussion to this point is focused upon group type encounters. In raid its pretty much mark every chance I get then use clusters of attacks, ex. exacting with the frontal dots, its best to group attacks that have similar timers; the back stabs are saved till one of the brigs calls dispatched/devitalized then its concealment and let everything go, rinse and repeat. Grouping I dont really have a set format. With guild groups anything heroic or less gets killed in seconds, so its pretty much use whatever is up. Solo is the only time I stick to a plan, usually open with bow attack, snare to get another shot or two off, mark, frontal dots, cheap shot, jump behind masked attack and whatever back stab is up, if it isnt dead just more frontal and auto attack, perhaps temp buffs if its beind stubborn and doesnt want to die.

Great responses from you guys, thanks! Actually although discussing group/raid tactics is great I was listing mine from the point of a 1-on-1 either PvE or PvP. Now, PvP requires a lot more flexibility, but the strat is the same.

As for bow attacks as an opening.. How are you snaring them from a distance?

Btw- I use: http://eq2.ogaming.com/db/list/abilities_assassin.php for my spell research.

Traytor 41 Froglok Assassin

The snare I'm using is the one that also debuffs poison resist, not the split paw one. I use a short bow usually (rangers took all the fabled longbows and we havent seen many) so after I open with a ca I hit the snare and back up to get one or two shots off on auto attack, doesnt do much damage alone but if I can get caustic to proc its worth it. After that its rush in and kill it. Occasionally when bored I'll go solo named, just keep them snared and ranged attack staying out of distance till the health is low enough to ensure success in melee combat. Havent done much pvp play but the main difference is tactics like kiting dont work as well, largely because while concentrating on one enemy another just runs up to you and you're dead, people are a lot smater than the computer generated mobs, whatever strategy you use someone will know how to counter it.

Quite true! So what PvP strats are you using? Anyone trying the snare-kite technique for PvPing?
