Curious to know what combination of poisons other assassins use. I have been only using 1 poisons at a time but found out I could use different ones at the same time. Thanks,

Soloing: Vitality(red) - The Str Debuff(purple) - Turgur(blue) (just can't afford the stun poisons to test out which is more effective...) Grouping: Caustic - * - Ignorant Bliss For grouping I alternate between the debuffs depending on whether the group is scout or mage heavy, or wether or not the tank can take the beating from the mobs.

When in groups, I rarely use more than the caustic (red) damage poison. When soloing, I change the red one into Vitality breach (drain health) and add Turgur (blue) for reducing the mobs attackspeed. Lastly I (think) I use Enfeebling poison (purple) for reducing the targets agility (makes it easier to hit). Can get a little expensive though
Message Edited by FunkerVogt on 10-10-2006 02:20 AM

I currently use the stun poison in groups (along with caustic). Not sure how useful it is... probably means a mob is stunned 2.5 secs in every 6-8 or so seconds if I purely autoattack. And if I'm down to just autoattacking it probably means we need those stuns :smileytongue:

I play a 40 assassin, basically, caustic poison, warding ebb/str debuff etc, and then de-threats, some times stifle types too, stifling a mob can help a LOT, becuas eits basically enemies spells and CAs that hurt the MT the most.

caustic if its not a long fight, mental if it is a long fight, health if im soling

tanks usualy have good resists to magic spells so to lesten the dmg of the phisical ya reduce their str, even caster mobs auto attck for 1k or more

slow their attack speed

i dont bother lowering the mobs agi and avoidance, why assassins have two skills that already do that, use a poison that does something the assassin cant do normaly

In raids I use the -24% attack speed poison, caustic (sometimes hemo, for the change) and, depending on raid setup, -WIS or -AGI.Had never thought of the mental breach... bloody good idea...

Can the mental breech really offset the damage done by caustic by allowing you to spam that many more CA's?

No. At one time I thought this as well, til I switched back to Caustic. The ONLY fights where mental breach will offset this is in groups where the tank pulls entire rooms at a time and you are always oop, or in raids on the fights you know you'll spend more than 2minutes oop.

Grouping : Warding (hey it helps the casters :p) , Mental Breach, and Stupefying

Raiding : Warding, Mental Breach, Ignorant Bliss

I use Mental to keep my mana flowing, and because the inq in the groups and raids is my wife. So I contantly have her mana siphon buff on for her. With my own mana drain and the proc I give her mana constantly. Nice little combo, even if it lowers overall dps.

For solo and non epic grouping CausticStupefyingGracelessnessFor EpicsCausticIgnorant BlissGracelessnessOccasionally switch out Caustic for Vitality if my resists aren't up to snuff on say Corsolander or the guy in Vaults with the heat damage shield.

Can you really use 3 poisons at once? I tried to use 3 last night one of each color and it only displays one icon in my buff panel for caustic poison.

Assassins have an AA that boosts the effectiveness of Hemotoxins so they far surpass that of Caustic poisons, especially if the fight lasts more than 30 seconds.

I keep one of each type up at all times; soloing, raiding, grouping, whatever (they're the underlined ones listed below):

Red

Expert's Hemotoxin - DoT, that with AA's speeds up its DoT tick by a full ten seconds for its duration. This is what I use most of the time.

Rilissian Vital Strike - Good, all around if you're in a pickup group without a chanter or dirge or competent healer (hehe). Adds a Damage proc, lifetap and powertap.

Expert's Mental Breach - For those annoyingly long fights with mobs that drain power (Gynok, Anashti, etc.). Couple these poisons with equipment like the Spiked Ravager Band from Mynzak and you're a regular power battery~

Purple

Expert's Enfeebling Poison - Reduces your target's Melee prowess by lowering their crushing, piercing, slashing, ranged as well as their strength. Coordinate with another Rogue in your group or raid to put on the Cerebral Ebb poisons and you debuff just about everything the mob throws at you between just you two. Gracelessness is also handy if the mob has an annoyingly high avoidance or defense. I use Enfeebling most of the time.

Blue

Expert's Essence of Turgur's - Slows the mob's attacks - great for soloing. Also works on a wide array of Epic mobs during raids, surprisingly enough. This is almost always loaded on my daggers.

Expert's Fettering Poison - This stuff snares, but since we're a melee class, having a snare poison doesn't really help us much -- we have to be in range to use it and kiting them is rather pointless with melee. Not bad if you're helping another person out that does like to kite (just watch aggro).

Ignorant Bliss - Much as I hate the idea of having to use poisons to help control aggro with a tank that doesn't know what he/she is doing, I do find that the Bliss poisons do their job pretty well. I'm sure a lot of us have endured pickup groups where the tank was severely "lacking" and we've had to resort to using this stuff. Thankfully, its not often I find myself with a hopelessly inept Tank. You'll find that Rangers use this Bliss poison like its candy, since they don't have a de-aggro ability to speak of (short of dying....which isn't so bad, I guess~), so making it and selling it to them turns out to be a tidy profit

The Vitality Breach poisons are pretty good for the early levels until you get some AA's, but after that, your AA's and the gear you're going to start finding seem to do the trick well enough. Put a Vampiric Pith on your daggers if you want a lifetap, so you can leave the poisons to do their damage. AA's and gear can give a nice lifetap alternative once you start hitting up the TSO raids. Heck, I even show up on heal parses on the long fights~ Gotta love Touch of the Nightshade and the Bangle of the Blood Symphony

I personally find that Caustic poisons are a rather large waste of money and time. Yes, the direct damage looks nice, but on short fights, you won't get as many procs of the stuff as you might like -- and any fight long enough to get a lot of procs, you're gonna want your Hemotoxins for their less-aggro and increased damage (if you spend the AA's).

If you get in a group or raid with more Rogue types, coordinate which poisons you use so the debuffs stack. Its pointless to put Cerebral Ebb on every rogue's daggers because the effects do not stack. Sure, its a good way to ensure that the effect is always on the mob, but that type of guarantee isn't worth the severe lack of other debuffs you could be using.

--<( Daggers Malone )>--

Yay we are going to keep it going. And I think daggers just trolled me. Good job sir!

Here are the things I take exception to.

- Caustic will out perform hemo if in a group with 2 or more proc increasers (templar/dirge for instance). It will also outperform hemo on fights where the hemo can't run its full duration. That said, in heroic groups, I usually have hemo running and in aoe zones too as its pretty nice having hemo ticking on mobs you're not even targeting.

- On the purple poisons, graceless is the best because it makes you hit harder and more often. But you should keep a stack of all of them for coordinating with other poison using scouts. Graceless and Enfeeebling are the 2 most important, however, rogues get special upgrades to those poisons which make them better than ours. So if there is a brigand, let them run graceless, if there is a swashie let them run enfeebling. You don't want to overwrite thier poison with your worse version of it. The casters will appreciate it if you run warding ebb (the one that decreases magical resistance and wisdom) so thats 3rd on my list. But, rangers actually get a slightly better bonus to that one, so if a ranger is around, let them run that one.

- For the blue poisons, you missed grandmasters stupefying poison. Hands down its the best one for soloing. Fettering is the only poison that I don't waste a bag slot on. Also, having to use IB does not mean the tank doesn't know what he is doing. Basically, if you can't rip aggro from any tank (other than a pally) at will, you might not know what you are doing. So using IB just allows you to DPS more

- You do not get less aggro from hemotoxins except for the fact that its often doing less damage than caustic. If both poisons are doing 500 dps, then you are gaining 500 threat per second.

Red: Vitality Breech for soloing. I use caustic when the fights are generally short, otherwise I use hemo.

Purple: I use gracelessness pretty much always except when soloing or when the tank is taking too much damage.

Blue: Stun poison for soloing always. In groups almost always ignorant bliss since I have never met a tank who's not a pally than can keep hate off me without a totally stacked group.
