Ok, I have so far got my assassin to 29, but consider myself a newb at the class - I was having an argument with a guy who said that, as an assassin, I should go for str over agility.

I guess I just assumed that agility was the way forward, but now I'm not so sure.

Any thoughts on the relative merits of str and agility (and sta/int/wis) for that matter!?

Yea, you really wont have to worry much about agility. As Grafton pointed out, almost any scout gear you se has agility on it. Str is definately the primary stat for our damage. As far as Grafton's order, depends on your outlook. I go str>> int>> sta>> agi for stat orders. Sta is by far the hardest to find on scout gear. So maybe his order would be best. But I guess I rely on healers to keep me up. Raiding is different, just because you will be looking for resist gear over stats to switch into for those pesky AoEs.

Now at lower levels, I have no clue. But items that give +slash or + peirce arent bad either. Nothing to go out of the way for, but if you happen across a nice peice with great stats on them and those, then grats.

STR > INT > STA > WIS >AGIMost of the time in raid, with group buff and what not, I am up to 7k+ hp.And with some resist gear, the only aoe that I get owned on is Cheldrek if I am point blank due to the nature of hsi aoe. Otherwise I take like 3-4k at most against the toughest mob.I also find that it is a lot harder to obtain good int gear for assassin vs str+sta.Choose Wis for resist, I can't really remember having problem with power, if it is a long fight I will just put on mental breach. Then again most fights are under 2-3 minutes, so between all the clicky regen and some power potion, you should be ok with power.

As a pvp assassin.. from order of most valued to least.

Str, Sta, Int, Agi, Wis.

Of course it depends on how you like to play your character and which AA lines you have chosen. I'm thinking of getting into the wis line for defence, because I often use cloth and leather armor as it's cheaper (mastercrafted).

Well, after reading the replies here, I have concentrated on strength (and sta), and found that the agility comes naturally on most gear anyway. My assassin is far, far more effective - thanks for the input!

a follow-up question on the OP's topic if i may...

with the order of preference that people are mentioning here, how far does (or should) that carry into equipment. for example, i'm going back and forth between the iron chainmail coat (str/sta) and the revenant coat (str/int). a few more hp's vs. a little extra damage...???

probably making way too much out of a small decision, but assuming str is first, do you usally opt for an int armor piece instead of a stamina piece??

<sigh>

i would shoot for STR-AGI-STA-INT in that order... mainly because STR affects melee damage, AGI gives us more power/avoid .. STA more HP's.. and INT more poison damage.
