<DIV>I'm on the venekor server and I've been having trouble with rangers; for some reason they always seem to get the jump on me, bringing me to half health (and it's all downhill from there). </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I've been told that rangers have stealth tracking / see stealth: Is this true? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm currently a lvl 23 assassin and I can almost never hold my own vs. another ranger unless I get the jump (which I find almost impossible, since they manage to see me first)...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Does the assassin class become more effective, or is it how I'm playing?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>There also seems to be disproportionately many rangers on the server, so that I have been considering rolling a counter to that particular class. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Could anybody help me out? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks. </DIV>

<P>Rangers/Assassin - See Invis</P> <P>Swash/Brig - See Stealth</P> <P>Troub/Dirge - Errrrrr</P> <P> </P> <P>Get Butterfly Totems if you are an assassin and you can see everything on track and no one should be able to sneak up to you. Rangers are better than assassin's at that level but come level 35 or so they really start to suck and assassins start to shine. </P> <P>Make sure you snare is at least Adept 3. Ranger's are always going to want to snare you and get away so they can use their big bow shots. They dont want to be in melee range with you. </P>

Level 23 eh?  Come back at 24 and tell me if you like using Assassins Blade or Ebon Blade in PvP :smileyhappy:

The secret behind PvP is tactic and items.. Your tactic you gotta figure out yourself, but you should keep close to a ranger because at that level you still do more close range dps. Also buy totems to see stealth. <div></div>

<P>Heh, well I'm back at 24.... I see what you mean. :smileytongue: </P> <P> Yeah, asassin's blade melts faces... kind of strange how they waited all the way until lvl 24 to give the assassin it's trademark long-cooldown-pvp-iwinbutton move.</P>

<div></div>Brigands are the mortal enemy of those pesky Rangers. If the Ranger is careless and lets the Brigand slip in and go toe to toe with them, they're going to get wasted. That's your counter class! But anyway, just get the drop on the Ranger with your Assassin and you'll trash them before they know what him them. <div></div><p>Message Edited by Supernova17 on <span class=date_text>08-18-2006</span> <span class=time_text>12:44 AM</span>

<DIV>Hmm, I just happened to curiously stumble into the assassin forum (though I only have a level 18 assassin alt I haven't played in months). In regards to pvp.... Pff, I have a 20 swash alt on PVP, and I destroy assassins/brigands/troubadours/dirges alike. :p</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>(I of course picked swash because it's my best class)</DIV><p>Message Edited by Cocytus on <span class=date_text>08-24-2006</span> <span class=time_text>02:52 AM</span>

Well done you!

Posting as a ranger here tellin all the assassins how to pwn me in a duel here <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Generally - make sure you get the first hit in.. If a ranger catches you from a distance to start, your dead.Use the following abilities first - A heavy backstab - root, stifle, then send in your dots and then invis and start using your backstabs (most of the assassin ones are frontal). You get a 12 second root, and a stifle if you catch a ranger who cant move - that rangers dead to any assassin. Our strongest points are.. Having 3 snares (2 at a distance), being able to root once every 20 seconds (for 4 seconds) - and being able to cheapshot for 4 seconds (wich assassins get as well) and the winner for any duel for me personally is point blank shot.. This throws the other person back allowing me to snare them buying me some time.. Also - I am a woodworker so I always carry see stealth totems on me to use pointblank shot on an assassin who uses concealment on me.In short - keep the ranger in place for as long as you can and victory is yours.

I just bought a M1 (my first bought M1... I usually settle for A3, rarely, and A1, usually) for the one upfront, damage and root attack -- forget the name. It does a max of 1k in PvP and roots for 9 seconds. Insanely useful. <div></div>
