Afaik those goblins are brawler-type mobs. They parries a lot, and have 360° deflection. When I was fighting them with my monk, almost every hit (either mine or their) was parried/deflected, that was fun tough.

Any mob that you see "deflects" anything you do is a brawler mob, and should therefore be avoided at all costs :smileytongue: Seriously, brawler mobs (regardless of any non grey con for the most part) parry, deflect, and make you miss 3x as often as any other mob. It's annoying, but then, that's why you don't fight those mobs :smileyhappy:

heh, thanks for the replies. I mean, apart from the cases of extreme parry, those mobs where not so bad to kill (city writs), all non aggro, spawn often enough that you don't have to wait, anyways...I really don't get the 360 parry thing, I mean, I was doing my usual CS, move behind for exposed attack... parried... opening move, from behind, in stealth, parried...How exactly does one parry from behind, when you have no idea the attack is coming...As I say, this was just one really bad instance of what happned, most the time I was going from mob to mob tearing them up... with a few extremely annoying parries as I said...Let me see if I can draw a picture:me being all sneaky and such like mob has no idea I am there, and does not have a weapon facing me to parry V V-------------------^ O O L L / /How does that work? Sorry if this has been bought up before, but there is no reason why when you are in stealth, and behind the inteneded target, that they should be able to parrie (dont bring up dragons and other real life stuff in this, that has been done before)par·ryv. par·ried, par·ry·ing, par·ries v. tr.

To deflect or ward off (a fencing thrust, for example).

To deflect, evade, or avoid: He skillfully parried the question with a clever reply.

v. intr.To deflect or ward off a thrust or blow.n. pl. par·ries

The deflecting or warding off of a thrust or blow, as in fencing.

An evasive answer or action.

There is the defination, and whilst facing the opponent is only implied (unless you can very skillfully defelect a sword/daggar blow with your spine some how) it well... doesn't make sense... and well, it annoys me. I don't care if I miss my opener, but it being parried is just too much...heh, topic change ftw Edit: Clarifaction of point

Message Edited by UberCiz on 07-25-2006 12:27 PM

Brawlers are extremely god-like at parrying, they can do it all around them!

I must admit when they redid a lot of mobs to give them player class traits (to make them more challenging) they decided to play the brawler class mob card a bit too often. Few things are as annoying as deciding to try and take on a hard mob, waiting for your high damage ca to cycle around, sneak in from behind, let her rip to be greeted with XXX blocks, deflects or parries your "insert your high damage ca name here".

Very few mobs have been made guardians etc with high mitigation and mediocre damage output (no offence player guardians out there).

Sark on behalf of Slaene.

Fight them in offensive stance if you werent already. Not sure which you did because the pics arent loading, but I wanted to let you know that your weapon skill will make a difference and if you are in defensive stance, they are lowered. If you are in offensive, they are higher. For mobs with good parry/deflect, then offensive stance will actually work out better for you.
