View Full Version : Avoidence, rule of thumb?

Is there some sort of rough formula that is able to give me an idea of how much avoidence is good (or not bad) for each level (assuming parry/defence at max) against an equal level target. I am finding at this time, I am having a hard time balancing mitigation with leather agi gear (which seems more in abundance from the brokers). My thinking is, that although I gain some avoidence, the blows that do land will hurt alot more, and that there must be a point where it becomes better to wear a certain ammount of leather with agility, forsaking the mitigation that chain offers until the chain items are there to buy or drop (with out plate wearers deciding they want it, something I still struggle to get use to be the "norm" in EQ2 coming back from WoW after a year or so, reminds me of raid pallies) anyways...Any comments are more than welcome and a "rule of thumb" would be great

it depends what you do most .. if you solo alot then mit will help.. so will avoidance.. if you group alot.. go AGI all the way for power..

With all chain armor except gloves, my avoidance in defensive stance is 61.8% and my mit is 3329. Items with +parry on them help a lot for raising your avoidance too. Mitigation is always going to be more important to me, and I'll always go for chain armor.

I have always gone chain except for T5 ( which is what I am currently in cuz well I cant afford the ebon and I had it made pre LU so stats still are good ) but it totally depends on your play style - if you group a lot then AGI is the way to go with STR in a close second ( imo ). I would suggest trying to stick to chain for the mit though - as there will be occassions where the tank loses a bit of aggro and the mob decides he wants to take a bit out of you - Now that I am int he T5 leather I can see the difference while soloing and when there is the aggro issue, just described - in how hard I take hits --- yea my str is much higher and my avoidance is up but when I get hit I get hit harder - so definatly suggest going chain -

PS. I just couldnt afford the Ebon for a set of that - so I went with leather cuz I could get a whole set for under 50g - but I'm lvling fast through this tier so hope to be back in chain very soon -

I would never go leather and sac mit for avoidance, I'm all chain and 61.3 in defensive, 66.7 with a shield, 3354 mit., especially if I was an active leveling scout.

i would never sacrifice damage for mitigation. str/procs all the way.btw - if you are serious about levelling, you arent soloing, you're making groups, and being forward about putting yourself out there. Levelling solo is labourious and timeconsuming, even moreso than levelling in a group really.

The reason I went with the rare leather over the fulginate chain is because of the stats. the rare leather has 11 str on it. so I did go stats, and because I do USUALLY group with the same peeps (I have total faith in my tank ) - I wasn't too concerned with the mit this tier - therefore I went all stats and procs - next tier I will go for the cobalt or droped stuff.

Lata!

64.8% Avoidance and 3174 mitigation. I think + def also gives us Avoidance. I'm all chain btw.
