This thread is for the incoming Assassins that are betraying from the ranger class. I'll just give some tips about CA's, AA's, and some other things we assassins have taken for granted, for we have leveled our assassins. I hope this thread will answer some questions. If you need some more information drop into the world assassin channel Guk.Assassin or can send me an ingame tell. Nektulos.Tigruz. I'd be happy to help out.

AA's - STR/INT hands down. STR for Perfectionist, and max melee crits. Perfectionist makes Killing Blade and Decapitate 2mins and 10mins recast respectively instead of the 3mins and 15mins recast. INT is great for the spell crits. The Toxic Expertise AA affects Malignant Mark, Deadly Wound, Scraping Blow, Flowing Wound, Cloaked Assault, our poisons, and most of all...Thermal Shocker. The skill that benefits the most from the AA line is Malignant Mark.

Master 2 - Malignant Mark all the way. If you are looking to raid and don't already have this skill master 1 then choose this CA. It can proc up to 1500 per tick if you have Toxic Expertise. 30sec recast and procs 5 times for 1000-1500 on raids for me. This usually does 15% of my total dps on raids.

Skills - There is already a thread for our CA's 60-70. But, we still use a few CA's/abilties from tier 6, like Elude, Apply Poison (proc for anyone but rogues/predators), Finishing Blow (one of our best skills), Concealment (lets us chain cast Backstabs), and our aggro x-fer (I forget skill name lol...). Concealment at master 1 lets the assassin basically chain cast a few of our backstabs. If you can get a good Concealment off you can use Killing Blade, Eviscerate, Cloaked Assault, Jugular, and Slaughersault within a 7 second period while reducing aggro by 40%. Apply Poison, Finishing Blow, and Concealment are the Anchient Teachings.

Well, this is all I could think of atm. Feel free to post any questions or improvements to this thread. Its kinda late and I'm tired and hungry so I couldn't think of any more.

Message Edited by Dragonsviperz on 06-13-2006 11:46 PM

Our hate xfer is called murderous design, 29% hate xfer at master 1....and yes...those are definetly the AA choices and master 2 you will want

I dont have it in me to abandon my ranger. After almost two years, 50 AApts, relic armor and nearly all masters, i'm just going to retire my guy, maybe SoE will fix us maybe not but it doesnt look promising.Reading the OP it seems rangers are desperately missing their own version of malignant mark and the rest of our melee skills are pretty damm weak.
Message Edited by valleyboy1 on 06-14-2006 06:42 AM

Good post Tig. Found a lot of that stuff trolling through the assassin boards, but nice to have it all complied and summarized. I haven't been a raiding ranger for awhile, was taking a break from the 6 day a week routine i had in eq1 for almost 3 years, but coming back into the scene i was very impressed at the assassin class vs. ranger. With the introduction of the betrayal option i see it a perfect time to make the transition to an assassin. With that said i have a few questions:

1. Which weapon do you guys normally wield in your primary sword/dagger? With the str and int line abilities both requiring one or the other to use which ability is better. Imo the poison debuff / slight damage would be better, but i wanted to hear it from you guys.

2. Ok so i know there are only a few AoE`s in KoS that you really have to joust in and out of--so i wont get into that.. but my question is Do your CA`s refresh fast enough for you to stay melee on a mob 100%, or should i be jousting and firing off ranged CA`s ? I have looked over all the spells etc, but it seems like you guys have enough to keep ya busy melee.

any feedback would be awesome... So hi my soon to be fellow assassins and thanks for the info.

Mallard 70th <STRIKE>Ranger</STRIKE> Assassin

The Tribunal

Butcherblock

When my melee CA's are down I run back a little bit and fire away my ranged CA's. But before I do that, I use Enmesh (2K poison debuff) and Poison Combination (1600 I think). Some Assassins don't use Assailing Blast because the CA doesn't do much dmg itself. The CA fires 2 arrows has a chance to proc poison, and procs on the first arrow only, and if the first arrow misses the second arrow will miss. They both hit max for around 700dmg each for me. But most the times you should be melee'ing alot.

any feedback would be awesome... the ability to betray my Ogre back to FP to become an assassin is the only reason he is coming out of retirement. Rangers bring nothing what so ever to a raid that you cant get from another class + have the other things that class brings. I'm lvl 60 and my guild will help me kit the Assassin out to raid so I can play him when not MTing .. i cant WAIT to be an assassin.
