Thats a nice wep. I know a while back when the pets were out they used to break the caster's invis anytime they hit the mob, is that stil true?

Ahh ok thanks. I would go for the weapon but knowing my luck it would break invis all the time. How much dps do the pets do, or just dmg?

I'd be nice if they did fix pets breaking stealth, the level 65 Ranger Hawk Dive skill does the same thing, but it doesn't look like they're going to change it, its working as designed. From a previous post on this same weapon "I have spoken to a dev about fixing the mechanic behind the pet breaking your stealth and was told that it will NOT be fixed, so I came to these boards in hopes that item-modification devs would take notice and do something about the proc." http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=items&message.id=69100&query.id=0#M69100

Think its on the Deathtoll loot table, so any mob can drop it I think..the named that is.

I hate you, Nothing good ever drops for me in my guild... : ( Jut like t6 that freaking stupid desert skewer never dropped, I bet I will never get one no matter how many times we kill it. And Vyemm doesnt like to drop his Fang too. They all drop stupid Pally, briuser, pally, pally 2 hander, pally and pally and more brisuer stuff. /hateOh and if that thing drop, I wonder if I will win it. : ( Beside I want the Surf board too.

I have Windrazor... dropped off of Fitzpizzle in Deathtoll. I've never noticed it breaking stealth, but as a swashie, I'm not as reliant on stealth, and I don't wield it 100% of the time. The only problem I have is that the "Whirling Blades" pet alot of times actually miss raid mobs and end up doing 0 damage. Anyone else noticing this on parses in eof raid zones?

seems like that would make a great bard weapon.

i don't think it's a good weapon for anyone really. it's much easier for bards , rogues & predators to find + piercing as opposed to +slashing gear, the delay is too fast, the ratio is 3 to 1 and even bards have one stealth attack. the bards i know want to same weapons we do. their dual weild mechanics work the same way.

I dont think Id use it, there are quite a few weapons that are better. Only reason I would get it is because I collect dual wields lol. Theres a [Removed for Content] piercing weapon from EH off Sariah and the MMIS weapons are pretty decent, although they are slashing. Of the DWs I have that arent the uber ones, I like Talonsreach the best and since I have no luck with weapons thats what I use in my offhand.

Didn't the pets from that sword break invis anyways?

And don't forget DoN from HOS which is basically the same as the RoD but with worse stats. Essentially the same dmg/delay though. Also pierce, with a decent delay and 5:1 ratio. Nothing compares to the GDoH that I've seen yet.

ya you are right Graton, I was getting the two mixed around, the Ancient Scimitar of Wounding which I was referring to is actually a slashing weapon not piercing. Lol it was late at night when I wrote that.

aITEM -1252547710 -595319444:Ancient Scimitar of Wounding/a

Its a really good weapon, but being slashing gives it a big disadvantage to the rapier. Stats on rapier are better, but the actual dmg range and crit ratio on the scimiter may be better. Like they both have the same ratio, but the scimitar has a longer delay. Drops off of Sariah the Bloomseeker in EH for anyone who wants to know.

Seeing how we got an upgrade for the DoN in IS i have a feeling theres a piercer somewhere in EH to upgrade the grinning dirk. I hope i am right ;p That slasher off of seriah isnt bad at all too, if i see it drop i might try pairing it with the maestros or the vamparic axe with some + slashing adornments and see how they fair. Have been waiting on a good reason to use the maestros for the crits and the proc is awesome on aoe fights. I doubt anything will beat the gdoh/rod combo but its nice to see that theres other options out there now. Satinah/Salinah

Forget all the arguments about delay.

Forget all the arguments about damage ratio.

Forget all the arguments about the maximum damage on the weapon.

The one reason this weapon isn't really that great? The sheer number of encounters where an uncontrollable swarm pet (which is what this weapon procs) can screw over a raid.

Tarinax, Talendor, 2-3 MMIS nameds, Fitzpitzle (who drops the darn thing), and probably some Emerald Halls encounters I haven't seen yet. For all of those encounters you basically have to unequip this weapon due to the death of pets generating encounter adds or healing the mob, or suffer losing DPS to constantly "cancel" the pet, which I'm not even sure you can do since it's a proc pet. (Classes who have swarm pets can cancel the swarm by clicking it out of their Maintained Spells window, I'm not certain proc'd pets give that option.)

Mind you, there's plenty of encounters you can use it in too, but the aggrivation a weapon like this brings makes it a poor choice for a frontline weapon. As a sidenote though, it's great for soloing!

-Hadanelith Raswrolski of Kithicor
