I have a 30 gnome assassin, but sadly Im a bit disenchanted with her, so I made an ogre brigand. Lots of str and hopefully good damage while being less dependent on stealth attacks. I start my "epic" journey when suddenly I get messaged, "Hey. Your a scout? Are you stupid or something?" I was a bit taken back but I pressed on and ignored him, or her which ever it was..About twenty minutes later I get another message.."You know, ogres dont make very good scouts." ..Now Im thinking maybe I made a wrong choice...Does it really matter? I know, this is the Assassin board, but hey, down deep were all scouts right...Anyways, what do you think?

Statistically the best? Sure. An extra 12 strength isn't going to allow you to completely pummel a half-elven scout, but ogres hold the highest for a scout's primary stat in any case. Its more along the lines of being in character, although i can't see anything wrong with an ogre thug myself? Just ignore people who give you rude comments, take pride in it, for being a class that is already nearly non-existent, on an underplayed race.

I think an ogre is a great choice. They have the highest Str and it's what I as an assassin strive to raise.

Str. Int. and Agi in that order.

As a brigand they have strength buffs so I don't believe it's such a big deal for them but it can't hurt. Just use armor to boost your other stats when you hit the soft cap. Just keep in mind Level X 7 is what your stat is soft capped at.

My troll assassin is the love of my EQ life (yes, I have issues). He is dumb as stone, but my AAs are going to take care of that. He was also good for learning to solo as the extra stamina made up for my early mistakes when the extra bit of HP made a difference at the lower levels.

I just rolled a gnome assassin 'cause he lookd awesome with his blue shades and spiky black hair. Once you get past the lowbie levels, starting race doesn't really matter.

I have always felt more comfortable with the ogre race. Something about it just feels right. An ogre assassin is a wonderful fit since there aren't many out there and he/she looks awesome, (their 'daggers' are longer than a full grown gnome!)

On the flipside, I have a gnome guardian...which just cracks me up.
