New Combat Arts. Existing Combat Art Upgrades. Alternate Advancement. What would you like to see?CA Line Upgrades Mask of Night† Massacre Exposing Mark† Garrote Punch Blade Anathema Assassinate* Deadfall Apply Poison** Deathly Blade Gorestrike Murderous Design Brutal Focus Fel Shot Oozing Wound Concealment** Insidious Wound Wicked Villainy† Improved Surveil Murderer's Assault† Can't wait for these!!* Who knows if Assassinate will upgrade, perhaps instead AAs will modify its reuse time or something** DoF "special" sub-class specific abilities, unsure if they would get upgraded, seems unlikelyQuestion: What is missing from our class that you would like to see changed through AAs?I'd prefer if this didn't turn into yet another "I can do 1k+ DPS. I'd actually love to death if they add an AA to either extend concealment or add a 2nd one... Would also love crits & crit backstabs (come on they did it to rogues in eq1, how completely awsome would it be to double crit on Assassinate for like 15k?) well it'd probably be more than 15k, but hey I'm going on the fact that solo atm i can do almost 7k... so double crit would probably be around 21? Maybe a chance at triple attack? (monk aa from eq1... remember it not working at all, but it sounded like an awsome idea though) And how about an aa to allow us to apply a real poison to someone's weapon... give the tank a stifle poison etc? or the aa allows us to change to different procs for our apply poison skill? and just thinking on my vision of something you'd call an assassin, how about a short duration/long recharge or whatnot sneak that's actually undetectable? it'd probably be silly/worthless but still would be fun... just something to play around with maybe

I'd love to see an AA that alloues us to form an Shadow Duplacute of our self's that help's us fight XD (juggleing aggro between the two would prove most deadly)

We need an AA to poisen our own blade's w/o buying a poisen.

& a AA too let us do an AOE shadowy cloud that DOT's XD

there I belive would be great in raid's but this allso would make us finally able to solo! great post. it's fun to start thinking about what aa's could help. the two biggest things i would want are :1. some aa to increase the effectiveness of our deaggro abilities - either a permanent or even a 10 minute recast reduces your aggro generation by 60% for x minutes, something like that. perhaps a permanent less powerful one and a temporary and very poweful one. i'd grab them both first.2. some improved ability to deal with ae's. i realize ae immunity is going to remain with brigands but perhaps we could get a shorter duration one or something3. the ability to to suspend poison for a time to help control aggro early or to save charges against poison immune mobs. this is particularly painful in poison immune range fights where you use the bow alot. we burn poison fast. i hate knowing i spent 20% of the charges of adeste's on a mob it can't hit.... meh4. an aa that gave you a chance to double attack that you could buy levels of. like lvl one - 5 % chance to attack twice every time you swing, lvl 2 - 10% chance , lvl 3 - 20% , something like that.5. critical hit aa's - again working like the above, some percent to crit.6. an arrow summoning ability - this is only useful if it scales to allow the summoning of arrows based on your tier. if it's only going to last 5 months because the lvl cap goes to 80 it will be useless.7. haste (dare i dream) - an aa to both give us a permanent haste and another to allow us to exceed the haste cap. i'm not sure what the haste cap currently is but in eq1 rogues could go above it natively i think. an aa to do this would be cool.

Yes - AEs forgot about that. Would it be somehow overpowering if our stealthing attacks like Mask of Night were able to stealth and shield us from AE? We could lie doggo there under our stealth unable to attack but safe while taht goes off and we'd know then right when it's safe to spring up again with an attack. Some sort of AA for that would be good at least if they wouldn't alter the stealthing attacks as they are

I'm going to make a basic assumption that some number of stat increases (such as strength) will be available as part of a generic set of AAs any class can earn. Given this assumption, there is no reason to ask for such an AA unless you would like that AA to do something more interesting such as add a +str effect to our self-buff or offensive stance.Mostly I'd be interested to see AAs add flavor to our class, give us more of an identity than just a damage dealer (although I did ask to trade away everything for damage capability with respect to class balance, AAs should allow us to broaden our scope a bit more and trade-off damage for utility and flavor as our personal preference dictates). Other than that, anything that continues making our damage dealing more consistent sounds great.I would be very interested to see:(1) "fast sneak" - AA that changes one or more of our sneak CAs so that it doesn't cancel run speed buffs, I don't care about mount speed buffs personally; of course it is a non-combat effect(2) "disappear" - drop off of all aggro lists, go into sneak -- basically as if you hadn't attacked anything, bringing back the Brigand special Feign Death sneak effect that in my opinion fit better with the Assassin DIsappear CA anyway. This is effectively a sneak that acts like a Feign Death, ideally it would be toggleable like the Monk FD since the SK-style FD isn't horribly useful enough to burn a bunch of AAs on; this could be way too unbalancing with respect to aggro management so perhaps it would carry a minimum duration during which you cannot engage in battle after using this effect. This could be an improvement added to Slip Away that only takes effect if you are already in combat.(3) "mitigation against breaking stealth on indirect damage" - either use the Focus skill or make it an AA we can buy up to increase the resistance %, we would take the indirect AE damage but remain in stealth; this is no longer a "must have" but I would still enjoy this capability(4) "no rear parry on sneak attacks" - some kind of effect that decreases or eliminates the possibility of being parried/blocked from the rear when attacking from stealth, this wouldn't be an alternative to debuffs and wouldn't help with our auto-attack damage but would restore our ability to reliably deal large damage attacks on some mobs(5) "shadowed form of the assassin != teh suck" - I could pay an AA point to make this effect look better, perhaps actually turning my body into the model used for the Necro shadowy assassin pet line(6) "add strength buff" - purchase multiple levels of this AA to add an increasingly large +str effect to one of our self buffs (Villainy would be fine, Offensive would be fine as well)(7) "add additional effects to entire combat art lines" (like those from the old training choices) - a generalization of the former suggestion, allow us to upgrade whole lines of CAs at a time with additional effects like those added in the old training combat arts or completely new and complementary effectsAs Graton indicated, some type of critical hit and double hit AA would be excellent as well (the critical hit sounds to be a likely AA). Some Assassin's claim not to have much issue with aggro management, but adding additional aggro management via AAs really makes it a personal choice which I am all for. In the end some guilds can provide the needed aggro sink support classes while others can't, it is nice to have an option when you are in the can't camp.

Message Edited by deaks on 01-06-200611:07 AM

Interestingly it would also provide a counter to the use of AEs to break us out of stealth both in PvE and PvP.We pay the price of not being able to deal damage while in stealth while not having to run in and out.

A stealth which avoided AE damage during the duration of its effect would mean we lose ranged combat DPS during its use as well, is this worth being lazy?I would propose instead a pair of AAs. One that adds 100% indirect damage avoidance to the Hunt line, and another complementary multi-level AA that provides a "stalking" bonus for a short duration after the Hunt effect expires (i.e. after you cancel it by breaking the stealth). Whatever a sensical bonus would be for having stalked your prey for the duration of the Hunt effect (perhaps a copy of Vanguard mechanics, this bonus could build up during the duration of the Hunt effect) it would make up for the loss or ranged combat damage during the stealth (making Ranged combat an option, not a necessity, for the Assassin). Thus you get a killer and exciting capability, but of course only after spending a considerable number of AA points.
