I read these boards when I'm bored at work (aka all the time), and some recent posts about Assasin PVP/Dueling really helped me last night.I was standing in Lavastorm outside Sol's Eye minding my own business when this 55 wizard, outta the blue, challenged me to a duel. I'm like, huh, what did I do? Then he started talking trash. I'm like, ok, lets do this. So I waited a few moments for DB to refresh - Assasinate, my new favorite toy, had like 13 minutes to go on refresh. I click accept duel, and the timer starts counting down. I don't waste time with stealth cause I know it will drop as soon as the duel starts - I just stay close to the Wizard.I know if he gets his big nuke off, I'm probably dead - this was the subject of much of his trash talking. So, my strategy is to start off by hitting him with my one (and only) stun. I figure his strategy is probably very similar, but I figure my cast timer is faster than his since it's a combat ability. Oops. We end up stunning each other and stand there dumbfounded for what seems like forever, neither of us able to do anything. I'm really sweating because I don't know which stun will last longer. When stun breaks, I realize rooting him will be of littel value so I turn on the auto-attack barrage of damage that we are so famous for and snare him with moor. Luckily for me, he panics as he watches his health bar drop at an uncomfortable pace. He starts trying to get out of melee range, very slowly, and makes his one - final mistake. He lets me at his back! Well, I go into my well practiced jumping-mid-air-turn-stealth-deathly blade attack and he's suddenly at <10% health with my legendary poison doing it's magic. Stun refreshes so I hit him with that. Now I know I have about 4 seconds to taunt him, so I do so. After 2 seconds of the most fun I've ever had in a duel (taunting an almost dead trash talking wizard is very theraputic during a duel, trust me!), I step back, do a /wave bye-bye and unleash my frontal attack ranged CA (upgrade to triple shot whatever it's called) and he's a corpse with lots of arrows sticking out of his head. That done, I look over my wounds and I'm astonished to see that I'm at 100% health - he didn't land a thing on me.Mind you, the reason I'm posting this is that I've dueled many, many times with my lil assasin, and this is the first time it's actually been a very one sided victory (to a person who presumably duels a lot and is 5 levels higher than me), and I have the posters of this board to thank. So, thank you!- Dyre, 50 Assasin of Oasis

Thus, death in duels has no meaning, just like in the rest of the game <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<DIV>I dueled a wizard list night. Gotta give him credit though: he tricked me.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I guess they get a Shadow Step type of spell, and he did that right as the duel started. When I was standing there looking stupid he actually got Ice Comet off and I was instantly at 20%. I turned around, saw him all smug, about to cast (presumably) the killing blow, so I ran up, stunned him, Mask of Night/Assassinate and he dropped like panties on prom night.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>His response? "Lag"</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Classic.</DIV>

<P>probably he has one of those items that reduce aggro by shadowsteping .....allways though preestealth before fight ...hope they dont have see invis...when fight starts u will loose it..but hopefully he wont have see invis so he wont have u targeted <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />.... HUGE ADVANTAGE</P> <P>the item hes got is called Tartons Wheel(i got one of those ...every class can use it...its fun to use when dueling classes with little ranged atacks and you shadowstep onto a tent top in SS.....kill them with bow and laugh)...drop like 1k aggro with it ...its nice :smileyvery-happy:</P>

<P>I can't reveal my SUPER SECRET TACTIC for the sake of my own dueling records, but doing something SIMILAR to that (with a modification or two) to Rangers is really fun. Nothin like dropping them with Assassinate the same way they planned to drop YOU with Sniper Shot, and then rubbing it in their face that you had to get it close to do it...</P> <P>... and DID!!!</P> <P> </P> <P>-Hadanelith Raswrolski, Assassin of Legacy</P>
