Best race for the assassin?

I'm starting an assassin (yah, I know the class is broken and post 50 I'll have a hard time, I'll try to onjoy till there and then we'll see) and since I like all the races I'd like to know from you which one is best for the class.</DIV> <DIV>Thanks to everybody.</DIV>

All the cool kids play dark elves <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><BR><BR>But to be honest there is no real best race.  There are no special racial abilities and whatever stat gains one race might give to start is easily made up later through basic upgrades.

Half Elf for the win. Nice blance of Str and Agi, I have more Str than Agi with just legendary gear at 290 (level 59) and Agi 250 (I like the damage, so I take Str over Agi if it's not a huge deduction) <div></div>

Most of the classes could make a workable assassin. I liked the male dark elf hairstyle that looks like horns, so I went with that. Ratonga is a fun choice, you get a racial deaggro power to use infrequently -- I'm not aware of any other races that get such a thing.<div></div>

<P>Honestly... after a while, race really doesnt make a whole lot of difference in your chose class.  Gear makes up for shortcomings. </P> <P>I choose Half Elves for all of my characters.  This is personal preference from their look mainly, but i've never had any issues with Half Elves or their stats.  Racials are not overly impressive, but I cope without any of the racial junk.</P>

<P>Denzel Lugassi (the Dark Emeril) is a human assassin, and I couldn't be more pleased.  What better blend of STR and AGI than a human, that starts with equal amounts of all stats.    In the long run, it makes no difference what you choose -- pick your toon based on appearances and how they look in your armor of choice. </P> <P> </P>

A gnome assassin is kinda funny, halfling and gnomes are just the funny looking class of the game, and erudites are the freakiest. They really scare me, c'mon their arms are freakishly long. But i chose Kerran because at low lvls the base stats actually meant something and imo they were the most balanced for a scout for soloing and grouping.</P> <P>/meow</P>
