Assassin's require poisons to reach their highest damage potential. I don't really want to make a alchemist since tradeskilling is kinda boring me. So Is it really expensive to always having to buy poisons to use? Do you use poisons all the time? With another damage dealer I dont have this ongoing comsumable cost (Eg to be a warlock or wiz). What do you think, should I stay away from the assassin class because it will cost so much to maintain a poison inventory?

Sincerely,

A possible aspiring Assassin.

Assassins and Rangers definately cost more to play than any other class. Not only do you have to buy poisons, but you'll also have to buy arrows.

Having said said... NPC poisons are really not that expensive and do work quite well. Even the highest tier NPC poison only costs 30s for 5 charges. Spending 1g per night on poison at level 50 is nothing. It may seem a little tight at very low levels when money is scarce, but it does get better as time goes on.

Any types of arrows work with bow CA's. At level 50, I still use mostly iron arrows at 5c each. You'll only need to buy specific tier arrows if you plan on kiting (which is pretty much being removed with the revamp). I still carry a few stacks of tier specific arrows in case of a ranged fight or if I have to kite something.

Overall, it does seem like a lot to have to spend at early levels, but it does get better as you level.

The biggest problem that I have is that half of my bag space is taken up by arrows and poisons. I always carry around 16 stacks of arrows and 16 stacks of poisons.

Its really not too big of a deal at higher levels. I use exclusively legedary poisons, which on yms erver run about 6-8g a vial. That seems like a lot, but so long as you don't over-aggro and die a lot they have 7 charges and 200 procs per charge so they last a long time, and by the time they wear off you've probably found enough random fodder to pay for them 4 or 5 times over. A good way to get them cheaply also is to ask for the loams produced whenever you have a spell rare (ruby, opal, etc) crafted into and ink. Each loam will make you 2 or 3 vials of legendary poison and a lot of alchemists, especially guild ones, will make them just for the nice exp they give if they're sub-50. As to arrows, I use the dirt cheap ones tht are like 5s for a full stack and still hit for over 1,000 here and there with spitting viper and assassins shot
