I like the armor. And whether you like the armor or not, it sure beats our hideous armor that we currently get to wear.

If you want a cartoon look WoW armor does look better. If you want a realistic chain type look EQ2 looks more realistic <notice I didn't say the best or better or just fine as it is>. I would love to see a variety of armor looks for EQ2 but i don't want a cartoon character armor look sorry I play EQ2 because the players looked realistic and armor looked realistic. I think they definately need to add a uniqueness to armor, but thats a whole nother can of worms in itself. personally the huge gaudy look of WoW assassins actually are pretty silly for a stealthy background, i mean huge [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] shoulder spikes, and enourmos glowy firey swords, yeah I bet that works hiding in dark shadows no one would see you right. <div></div>

that's actually a light armor breastplate he's wearing. i wear the imbued light armor chest and legs and that's the bp graphic. i think they look great personally and a lot of folks ask me what i'm wearing when i run around. his arms and legs are medium which i agree stinks. wish i could find some nice light armor t5 arms. <div></div>

this may sound silly, but we need some mask or something, like a ninja ;p <div></div>
Yeah . I want to look like an assassin, not like all other scouts . Class ( not archetype ) armor would be nice . <div></div>

<P>No disrespect to the OP, but I think this demonostrates on why I prefer EQ2 graphics to WoW.</P> <P>However, I do like tyhe idea of face coverings hoods. To much work for the art team though.</P>

<div></div><div></div>Yeah well SoE's art team ain't exactly working too hard. Coming from the stand point of a 3d artisit, the armor textures and armor designs themselves are just awful, and chain is the worst. As for looking like an assassin, my bright white shiny armor could be seen from space, not exactly realistic there. I think I'd rather have spiky anime shoulder pads and an obnoxiously large sword than be a walking mirror. <div></div><p> <span class="time_text"></span></p><p>Message Edited by ZaranilShadowfiend on <span class=date_text>06-22-2005</span> <span class=time_text>02:34 AM</span>

I would settle for changing the level 20 fun spell from the somewhat useless rat (somewhat, not completely =P) to a dark cloak we could run arround in, maybe a dark red dragon or something on the back, with like the majority of players like, something to cover the mouth/face. The level 50 could be worked on too. How about a more solid stream of "shadows" (smoke rofl) instead of a puff here and there every 3 seconds or so btw lol, i was on teamspeak with some guildies, they said "rofl... you look like that lil kid from Charlie Brown!! lol, you know!! the dirty one!!" really tho, its the look of the WoW armor above that I like as compaired to our armor... its nothing to do with the style of the armor that makes if look cartoony, the colors play a big role in it. Im sure SOE could make armor exactly like that and have it still look realistic. <div></div>

Aye. The brigandine gear looks in EQ2 looks sweet at all levels I think. Same with the Sootfoot Branded gear. Too bad those setups aren't good for anything but resists to heat + devine. But I totaly think that a change in look between fulginite and ebon med armor is needed. It looks exactly the same. <div></div>

First of all, your picture comparisons are wrong :smileytongue: The uber looking WoW Assassin you posted isn't even an Assassin it's a Warlock. The armor he is wearing is the uber end-game armor you get in the game unlike the rat assassin you posted which is just normal/rare armor. Technically a rogue class could wear that but that would be [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] and the same as an Assassin wearing all mage stat armor. Not only that, WoW has Rogues and Hunters, not Assassins from what I've seen in the few weeks I played that game. Also you just had to pick the most ugliest race in EQ2 mixed and matched with both medium and light armor which look horrible even in full matching sets. I'll admit I was very disappointed with what the light and medium armor looked like in this game. I ended up getting a Robe of the Invoker just to cover myself up. But just like how Plate wearers can get brightly shiny silver metallic armor, the Fabled medium armor looks pretty good as well. I actually like it more because it had texture and form unlike shiny plate. I took this picture of me just for this post (2 pieces away from full fabled white medium set >< ) lol:</FONT></P></DIV> <P><SPAN class=time_text><IMG src="http://www.malice-guild.com/phpbb/files/seyumipic_424.jpg"></SPAN></P><p>Message Edited by Seyumi on <span class=date_text>06-23-2005</span> <span class=time_text>12:25 PM</span>

<DIV>Seyumi, that character on the WoW screenshot is not a warlock. It's a rogue with the Bloodfang tier2 epic set if you want to be so nit picky.. Yes I know I said "assassin", but it's the closest thing WoW has to assassins (and their skills/talents are very assassin-like). And yeah you're right, I put on an ugly mix of armor on the rat, gave him a stupid /mood happy expression and /show the [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] looking cap, to make him look as ridiculous as possible. I guess you could say I exaggerated to make a point, eh? Your armor set is nice and all.. it's just not the image of an assassin (well at least in my opinion).</DIV>

<P> </P> <P>The armor could be a bit more creative I think. FFXI has some sick armor, idk if any of oyu played that. Wasn't over the top fake (kind of like wow, I guess--I like wow's armor/weps personally), infact I think it was fairly realistic. I remember Dark Knights use to look [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot]ing disgusting.</P>

<DIV>Hi all-</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I've played WoW and EQ2, and FFXI and CoH for that matter, and I have to say that I still find myself waffling on the "look" of each game. The cartoony look of WoW is alright at first, and if you stick with it, and if you're all but the most hardcore of MMORPGers, I think you'll start to really like WoW, and the look. I suppose I feel as though the armor, especially some of the armor available to Rogues -which are Assassins in all but name, to be truthful- are "better" than EQ2 if you can get past the cartoonishness. I say "better" b/c certainly EQ2 beats WoW as far as graphics-quality goes, but the lack of variety in EQ2 can really get you (me) down. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I think one of the things WoW got right, and perhaps this is a defining characteristic of the game, was being as democratic as possible. Yes, the graphics and design of WoW make no attempt at realism, but what's gained is a greater variety of armors, or "looks" (not to mention the fact that many of my friends that play EQ and WoW can't even run EQ2, or can barely run it); in turn, WoW pleases a greater variety of gamers (to me, WoW seems designed to balance difficulty against depth of play or appearance with an eye towards making the game appealing to as many people as possible; it's got a lot of options to choose from, but none of them are deeply developed: it's got some EQ-like "raid content" but not a lot, it's got some PvP content but not a lot, it's got 1 of any given stereotypical fantasy RPG character class but nothing beyond this (a Rogue, or Mage, or Warrior is always just that; that said, there are "Hero Classes' coming in the expansion), it's got a fairly diverse crafting system but the crafting is also rather rigid and very simple.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>EQ2 has stunning graphics, and afaik there isn't a computer out there that can properly run the game with everything on the highest quality setting; the gameplay and everything about it is deeper. I guess what I'm getting at is that EQ2 is for people who don't care enough about how their armor/character looks to get much upset b/c it's a game for hardcore MMORPGers, and while I think most MMORPGers could enjoy WoW, they won't stick with it as long as they will with EQ2 simply b/c, though WoW has a lot of veriety, you can blow through all that relatively shallow variety (like the mad numbers of armor) way faster than you could with EQ2. I'd hazard a guess and say that you can't blow through EQ2 at all.</DIV>

<div></div>As we get closer to level 50 I would expect the armor to change for the better, getting stronger in level should mean becoming more violent looking... You know, that armor that says "Hey you! You there! Yeah you! It would be cool if each class got a special piece of armor, obtained through raiding or high guild levels (seeing as everyone can't raid... like myself atm =P) Assassin's getting some nice cloaks and dark body armor with spikes here and there, warlocks and wizzie's getting robes that... glow... or something, don't care lol. I know some of the people wanna stick to realistic values, but hey... this is a game right? Why make games? So you can do/say/wear/fight/have stuff that you can't in real life, therefore realistic stuff only goes so far in a game to keep it interesting. All I know right now is, it's getting extremely boring for me to gets my hopes up on my armor looking nice only for me to craft from my recipe book and see that the T4 regular armor is the exact same as the T2 rare. Or that the armor I have to look forward to in T5 isn't all that great, but still good, and the fabled stuff makes me look like a fun house of mirrors. It can't be that hard to come up with some good ideas and put them into action... And don't tell me it is, I use to make models and skins for Unreal Tournement 2004 =)... <div></div>

<DIV>Man, </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anything would be better than what we have now. You have partial suits of 5 different types of armor, can never even get a full suit of something that drops. Why does the T5 Ebon Imbued chain armor look identical to the T4 Fulginate Imbued chain armor? Scouts have to wear light armor to get the proper stats that the bruisers/monks enjoy? Why cant we have some good stat'd medium armor? I'm not really a fan of the silver chain look either, I'm a dark elf assassin, not a follower of Marr. Bring back the Racial imbued armors, armor tinting, or increase the overall variety! My T5 chain reminds me of EQ 1 level 15 chainmail. Fulginate plate is EQ 2's Bronze armor. Variety!!!
