About to go Assassin with my alt, have a few questions: 1.) I notice Assassin has very few ranged attacks, should I still get my ranged skill up? And if so, what weapon should I use? (because it doesn't say you have to use a bow) 2.)Is it worth going up alchemist for poisons? Or should I just buy? 3.) Which artisan class makes assassin adept 3's? (Jewler? I know it's for Ranger, but It could be for Assassin as well) Thanks in Advance..

Message Edited by Trojake on 06-10-2005 10:37 AM

1. I went with Bow. at 38 I have 4 ranged skills I use (2 behind, 2 front) and they work quite well.

2. Your choice. I went with Jeweler and enjoyed upgrading spells and selling jewelry at lower levels. Now that I am higher level the Poison woudl have been nice. But both are good for us.

3. Jeweler's

Increased range skill increases your chance to hit with skills like backshot and the assassin's shot line. My skill was low for awhile and I ended up missing a lot on the damage skills but its fairly easy to keep up to date if you just fire a shot every now and again with backshot or pull with a bow solo. When it comes to weapon choice the bows are the better overall items and are in more abundance so I would stick with those for now.

Poisons arent all that expensive to buy in most cases and if none are available you can always fall back on npc poisons and not lose all that much. Alchemist isnt really the moneymaker it used to be and spells don't sell well and not a whole lot of money in poisons/potions other than saving yourself a few gold a week maybe making your own.

Jewelers make all the scout adepts, alchemist is for all of the fighters and sage is for priests/mages.

I would suggest you pick up a bow as fast as possible and never put it down after that. I find it as one of our most vaulable skills once you get in about the late 20s early 30s range. I'm lvl 40 and when i jump out of a fight and hit my three bow skills they will hit for 1200+ pretty easy.

I wouldn't worry about making poisions, probably save more money if you make your own arrows. You would be surprised how fast you can go through a stack or two or three on a good night.

Hitchhiker

Lvl 40

Tox

Bow attacks are all awesome.. if you examine them you'll see theyre one of the most power efficient attacks (along with bloodthirster & condemning blade). They hit pretty hard, with adept3s of Spitting Viper, Faltering Blast and Assassin's Shot, solo mobs drop dead just from these 3 attacks alone

It's just annoying that FB and AS are on 3 sec cast though

With arrows on NPC's I've seen them for 2c a piece and some for 93c a piece? What is the real difference if arrows don't have stats?

yeah at lvl 50 you basicly have 3 ranged attacks. and i use all of them alot. at around adept 3's on all of em... using cedar bow and fulgi arrows. you should get ..... Assassins shot upwards of 1k Faltering Blast 500 x2 Spiting Viper 1100. <--- ive got master 1 of this and so far ive almost broke 1500 on feyiron arrows wich is quite good damage for a 1 second cast bow shot. with a bit of a debuff to poison resists thrown in. bows help out alot. i cant imagine living without em. only downside is spending 20g a week on buying a new couple hundred arrows. and poisons lol proc rates on bows for poisons/weapon procs are extremley modd'd if you sit out with a bow you pretty much proc poisons every 1/4-3/4 shots.

1.) Use your bow and use it often! It increases your DPS and that's our only function in a group. 0_O

2.) It'll save you money in end game. Personally I'm regretting not going jeweler for the Adept upgrades :/

3.) Already answered.

Message Edited by Ahlspiess on 06-11-2005 02:57 AM
