<DIV>Just a question concerning the spell Cripple... </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I don't know if it's just a preception thing or what, but... Cripple is suposed to reduce a mobs defense, thus resulting in a greater chance of hitting, and I would think a greater chance of hitting for more damage...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now, for some reason, when ever I use Cripple and then one of my high damage CAs (Condeming Blade, Bloodthirster), I always seem to hit for less than my average damage when not using Cripple... Keep in mind, that I typically run the course of debuffs prior to using the high damage attacks (Anethema, Punch Blade, Infected wounds, Mask of Night).. Just a FYI, I do have Cripple at Adept 3...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When I don't use Cripple I tend to get the following results...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Bloodthirster = 900-1200 Damage</DIV> <DIV>Condeming Blade = 1800 - 2200 Damage</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When I do use Cripple I tend to get the following</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Bloodthirster = 600-900 Damage</DIV> <DIV>Condeming Blade = 1200-1600 Damage</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For me it seems that it is buffing the mobs defense rather than debuffing.... </DIV> <DIV>Has anyone else had similiar results while using Cripple? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Gwern - 50 Assassin - Kithicor </DIV><p>Message Edited by Aienaa on <span class=date_text>05-22-2005</span> <span class=time_text>07:06 PM</span>

I can almost assure you that this is pure chance <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> The damage range on Bloodthirster and especially CB is huge. Once, when my CB was up and I debuffed the mob for a ladder hit as usual <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />, I hit for less than the listed minimum damage on it. Sometimes it just happens.. it's annoying <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<P>Cripple is just icing on the cake really. If you look at your skills its a small overall part of your defense debuffs</P> <P>Punch blade - 34 defense debuff (almost 7 levels)<BR>Anathema - 8 defense<BR>Cripple - 12 defense</P> <P>That is 54 defense that we debuff so even without cripple you essentially make a mob defensively gray to you and even most raid mobs will go gray/green. However defense is a core skill and not necessarily mitigation. If you look at a skill like bloodthirster this lowers overall mitigation to piercing by quite a bit as does anathema and infected wound. So if you want to up your overall condemning blade score its best to use it after the mitigation debuffs are on more than just the defenseive debuffs which help auto attack melee more than combat arts which rarely miss.<BR></P>

<DIV>But if you're really trying to hit the mob as hard as possible, look at the attacks that lower their piercing mitigation. Bloodthirster is one that should always be used before condemning blade to try and get the highest hit possible. I know that because.. well.. That's how I got my high hit <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV>The duration of many "decrease mitigation of" attacks i.e. torment, bloodthirster, last 1 min, 12s I believe. I throw 3 or 4 of these attacks on at the start of the battle, then use my perforating slice or condemning after. I notice a slight difference overall in higher damage on some mobs. Others I don't. </DIV>

<div></div>All cripple does is reduce the opponent's skill in defence, effectivly lowering the mob's level in terms of being able to dodge attacks (I can reduce a mobs defense by 22, which is 4 and a half levels). It does not affect physical mitigation which would be how hard your attacks actually hit for. It could just be chance that other people on a raid's debuffs (particularly a brigands) drop when you are using cripple, or there is a problem with debuff's stacking (cripple may be overwriting debilitate). <div></div><p>Message Edited by dnpvendetta on <span class=date_text>07-04-2005</span> <span class=time_text>09:27 AM</span>
