When i had Slip Away app1, i could use it IN NON-COMBAT situation to go into stealth mode and sneak up on a mob and backstab it. I KNOW SA IS NOT TO BE USED IN COMBAT. Saying this now so people will [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] right off the bat and stuff their assumptions. Anyway, SA could be used initially to put me into stealth mode and i would then be able to use Shadowed Blade or whatever else as a lead off attack against a mob. Now if you LOOK at the description of SA, it says that it is a stealth based skill. Fine. If you look at Shadow Blade, it says can only be used when player is in stealth. I have screen shots of the skills that i will happily post if anyone thinks they can argue this. You can't. Don't bother. I would hat to embaress you with the screen shots that prove you wrong but as i said, happily will post them if necessary

Now here is the problem, i picked up SA app2 and i cannot make any attacks that are stealth based. Why? I am invis. I am considered in stealth mode according to the description of the skill and yet i cannot make one single stealth attack. Why? Bugged i would come to the conclusion of. How long as his been going on? I know it isn't just me because i have seen this topic on other websites but not been addressed here yet. Prob is on the other sites people are running off at the mouth that this is not a combat skill. you cant use it DURING a fight. Well, duh... the skill says that when you examine that. PRIOR to a fight though, sneaking up on a mob IS NOT COMBAT and IS STEALTH. So, why would app1 work and app2 not? Bug. Only explaination. SOE -- Fix this. Thanks.

I guess it all depends on a developers viewpoint of the situation. To me combat doesnt mean just when you are locked but also the aggressive actions you take to lock the encounter. So sneaking up on a target and then using shadowblade is in fact combat because you are taking aggressive action and engaging the enemy. So if the skill is truly a non combat stealth then it should block you from engaging. I guess there is always room for interpretations on what exactly non combat means and what it should block but since there have been numerous threads on this and no fixes then I will guess it's been labeled "working as intended"

Btw you can use hunt while stealthed by slip away then drop slip and engage as normal.

you are missing the point... The Apprentice 1 version worked as and other stealth. it wasnt until i upgraded to App2 that it "broke." So either App1 is broke or App2 is broke. Either way, it should be fixed.

In regards to interpretations... i swear that is the devs pull that as an excuse as to why some things work and others dont... "Well i am sorry there Mr. / Mrs. / Miss / Ms. Player but your perception is wrong and that wasn't what we the devs had intended for that particular skill / spell / item... You need to reread the description a couple more times until you see it our way. Also taking several hits of illegal substances helps to see it our way as well... Safe Journeys!" ~ Dev Team / GM Team / Guide....

Leaving things open to interpretation means one thing - all bad. And as you have said yourself and i pointed out, there have been MANY threads about this... doesn't anyone on the SOE team think it's about time to fix it one way or another?

I have the same problem with Slip Away. It worked fine when I received the skill at app1, but as soon as I upgraded it would not longer allow any of my stealth based attacks to work. I created a CS ticket, twice actually, and also have used the report bug function in game twice. I received a reply back that they will look into it and to please be patient. I don't know if this means that they are aware of the problem and are working on it or if I just got a standard reply to a gripe. Either way, hopefull they will realize the problem and fix it soon.

I am sure this is a known issue. But it would be VERY nice for them to tell us whether it is supposed to NOT work as a stealth or whether it IS supposed to work as stealth. I just want to know if the version I have is bugged or not bugged, as I upgraded it to Adept 1 ages ago before I heard about this.

In the end, it wont change much to know this, it will be bugged or not bugged until they fix it, but I would just really like to know which way it is supposed to be.

Myos.. You.. are asking.. THEM... to admit they did something ... wrong? You're kidding right? You want them to tell the assassin community that they screwed up... to admit one version of SA or the other is not functioning properly... :smileyvery-happy:

That's not how they do it and you know that... they stealth nerf / fix things that are screwed up... Like have you noticed recently you no longer heal now when you use your HO starter? nerfed last patch and no one was told about it.. nothing mentioned in the patch update... just *poof* ... gone.

Sounds bugged. Non combat always meant for me not usable for attack at all, even if it´s initial. So all who read it and still are at App I should enjoy it while it lasts. I´m using Halkin´s anyways, so I don´t care :p

["... Non combat always meant for me not usable for attack at all, even if it´s initial. ..."] I see it as meaning the art cannot be 'casted' during combat, only while out-of-combat. Stealth is stealth, it should matter not what art was used once I am stealthed. By the way, the replacement upgrade Vanish works perfectly fine with regards to stealthed attack requirements, just like SlipAway app1. Which is the bug?

Message Edited by Trei49 on 05-04-2005 08:35 AM
