I'm a Freeport based Alchemist, working in Tier 4. I'm interested in supplying Assassins (as well as the other Scout subclasses) with poisons, but I don't know much about the poison market.

Do you buy player crafted poisons? If so, what kind of poisons do you look for? Do you bother with the resist lowering ones? What do you think is a fair price? If you don't buy crafted poisons, what would convince you otherwise? Should I bother making Tier 3? Any information at all would help.

I'm not looking to gouge prices or anything. I'm just looking just to put in honest work to benefit the community.

Sorry for all the questions, I'm just trying to help

I'll tell you that I buy about 8 different poisons and try them out. Usually the purple poisons do the most damage and I will use that. On the occassion that I am fighting one of the mobs that are resistant to everything I will switch out ot a resist lowering mob. I'll be honest though that at higher levels and even mid level I think I stuck to the player made purple poisons more. So to answer your questions I personally do the following:

Do you buy player crafted poisons? Yes

If so, what kind of poisons do you look for? High damage poisons (IE the poison that does the most damage)

Do you bother with the resist lowering ones? On occasion

What do you think is a fair price? I am a part time Alchy too... I honestly believe in supply and demand and that crafters should make some money too, but not [Removed for Content] the customer. I usually pay between 30s to 3g for poisons. Yes that is a wide range but the rare poisons are the best and the normal ones have to have time and effort to get them created.

If you don't buy crafted poisons, what would convince you otherwise? Most players should be using crafted poisons. The fact that you get 7 shots off and they tend to be resisted less makes it worth while. If that doesn't convince the average Assassin the damage is usually higher on most player made poisons.

Should I bother making Tier 3? Poisons across the board are good no matter if they are T2 or T5. The higher the poison the better the use, but don't forget about the new assassins that are joining the race. We need to always help them out as much as we help out the end game.

I'm not looking to gouge prices or anything. I'm just looking just to put in honest work to benefit the community. GL and we hope to buy from you in the future.

I supply poisons on the market here in Freeport of the T5 kind daily. I'm the only person really doing this (occasionally some newb T2 alchemist will put some on the market for 1s less than mine and try to rip people off, but that doesn't count) and it's really not worth it. Making the poison vials is a pain in the butt (2x T5 coals to make the darn things using the Apothecary books) The quality it dependent on quality of the vial (jeweler specialty), not of the mixture (alchemy specialty, what genius thought that up?) You can't give them away (1g25s for a T5 Translucent (7 charges), and 1g for T5 normal (6). They almost never sell. Any less and I'd almost be losing money) They don't work (resisted oh so often it's almost a waste of money) They don't con correctly (they're grey by the 6th level in the tier, giving the impression they're useless) They are troublesome to make (yes, at 50 it's all too easy to fail the level 43 recipe for Disruptive Torment and get 'normal') They're bugged (Some are potions in disguise, the rare ones don't always do anything, and some have 1 charge which seems to be always resisted) Nobody cares (NPC poisons are a fraction of the cost and have 5 charges) *edit a few typo's

Message Edited by GodH8sMe on 03-30-2005 09:58 PM

I prefer player crafted most of the time when i can get them. I usually keep 3-4 colors going at any given time and at 26 I know that I'd rather have Tier IV posion dumbed down to my level than grey Tier III or NPC bought (lvl 20 so also grey). That is the nice thing about player made is that you can use any level you want...it just adjusts to you.

As far as pricing goes...I'll pay what I can afford and at my level I usually buy them for around 25-30s each. A great investment in my book because each vial will last me about a week so I invest 1-1.5G/week in poisons, and about the same in arrows. But with the combo I get to solo heroic green and blue ^^ and live so it is worth it.

I'm an assassin/jeweler and I'd love to buy player crafted poisons, but on Guk there are never any on the broker. I've even offered to make bottles and supply harvest materials - still no bites. I dunno...

With respect to the cost of player crafted T5 poisons:Combines:1) ashen roots + aerated mineral water + beeswax candle = 4 pristine golgi oil (9s28c total, 2s32c each)2) teak or ashen roots + aerated mineral water + beeswax candle = 4 pristine golgi resin (9s28c total, 2s32c each)3) diamondine or bloodstone + golgi oil + beeswax candle = enneanoid reagent + enneanoid loam (9s22c) - sellback on the enneanoid reagent is 13s22c, cost to produce -4s4) enneanoid loam + 2 lustrous black coal = 3 x unblemished superb poison vial (18s44c total, 6s15c each)5) unblemished superb poison vial + supernal suspension + golgi resin + beeswax candle = Translucent Hypnotic Shock (7 / 7 charges) (18s44c)Combine 1 is 2s32cCombine 2 is 2s32cCombine 3 is -4sc (with sellback of enneanoid reagent)Combine 4 is 6s15cCombine 5 is 18s44cTotal Player-Created cost is 25s23c (7 charges) with sellbacks and multiple-item combines.
i thought poisons didn't stack unless one was damage poison and other was debuff poison? did they change this and i missed it?

I have not looked closely at the stacking...but they do have a greater chance of proc'ing since each one has a 25% chance/hit...so, with 4 up I have @68.4% chance of a poison going off compared to 25% for one. I use only the damage ones normally although I also occasionally get the poison resist reducing one as well. My poison's are proc'ing almost every hit throughout combat and at 29 I am getting anywhere from 60-80DPS most fights

well for player crafted goodies you now get 1400 procs per bottle, and 500 procs for NPC stuff. Keep this in mind when it comes to costs

Exactly. I get player made when available and NPC if I have to...of course once I round 30 the NPC is good to go again for 2-3 levels before player made beats it out again. I just wish the Alch's would start actually making it more often and marketing it...we have ONE person marketing it and I have contatced several alch's and all they do is complain that they don't TS any more since they got NERFED...Even when I offer money, the stuff to make it and even some Jewelry...down right DEPRESSING.

But their loss I guess, some day soemone will start making it and they will get plenty of money...
