<DIV>OK, now that safe fall seems to be a skill that can be improved, any suggestions on where (on the evil side) are good practice spots?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For the commonlands, I can think of the Griffon Tower, various broken walls in the Ruins of Val'Marr. Any others?</DIV>

<DIV>The top of Ascent in Nek? :smileyhappy: Seriously though, I hope this isn't going to be something that levels slowly. I haven't been able to play since the patch went live, but I'm guessing that SoE haven't maxed our safe fall skill so we don't have to play catch up.</DIV>
I am at 100 safe fall. Best spot? Right inside Nek. You can run up the side of the bridge and drop down onto the bridge, or onto the ground on the other side for an even greater fall. There are no monsters there to worry about, so its safe enough for anyone really.

<DIV>Yup just inside Nek is indeed a very good and convenient spot (considering the rest of the zone),</DIV>

<DIV>The slope up from the Comms docks is also a contender I'd have thought.</DIV>
<DIV>a really good spot is just north from the nek docks, there's a steep hill very near where the Forest Leapers spawn, i spent just about 20 mins getting to 100 in safe fall there, just by jumping, reclimbing (just walking backwards for a second), jumping, walking backwards for a second...rinse and repeat <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

does this skill just make us take less falling damage? or make it so we can fall from a higher distance without taking damage?
<DIV>it'll increase the chance of you falling and taking no damage, but im not sure if it'll reduce the damage you'll take if you fall from too high, as well :S</DIV>

<DIV>I've also noticed that my falling damaged has been cut by 2/3. If my math is right, falls that used to hit me for 300 are hitting for only 100. And tihs is only 2 improvement points in Safe Fall since the patch.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyone else notice this?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>yes, got to 100ish today running up and down the hill on the beach and jumping off...was irritated at people anyway so it fealt good to jump off a cliff roflmao</DIV>

Do you get more credit for falling greater distances?

I just keep jumping off the ramps going up the griffon transport towers. I think ill try the hill on Nek beach. It seems like you raise skill by enacting the skill through falling and being exposed to damage. Height has no factor in skill gain.
The small rock mound right outside of Fallen Gate is an excellent spot to practice. I will run up the side and jump backwards. Once I land I immediately move forward. It is a very quick loop without much thought.<p>Message Edited by Baylum on <span class=date_text>01-10-2005</span> <span class=time_text>09:25 AM</span>

<DIV>And just to add:</DIV> <DIV>A friend of mine is a 35+ Assassin. He worked his Safe Fall up to 120+. He can jump from the top of N'mar's to bottom and sometimes take no damage! When he does take damage, it is not fatal.</DIV> <DIV>That would be handy if we get PvP! Plus, it funny as all to freak the party out.</DIV>

Best place to level it = anywhere. Just jump off stuff, so far it doesn't seem to matter how high up you are as long as you would have normally taken damage. I got to 75 just jumping off a little hill in Zek while waiting for more party members.

<DIV>I got mine up to 90 in about 10 minutes running up the side of the hill right next to the nektulos station in the commonlands. As an experiment to see if it lessened Damage I ran up to the top of tower, who's name escapes me at the moment, and jumped out the window. I took 1183 points of damange. I have 1186 hit points <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> . So needless to say I won't be testing that one again until I get my skill up closer to max.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Belgarog</DIV> <DIV>27th Lvl Ratonga Assassin</DIV> <DIV>Antonia Bayle</DIV>
<DIV>tradeskill instance is really not that great a place to practice it; it takes ages to jump, run to stairs, up the stairs, up the stairs again, and then jump through the middle...by the time you've done that you could have (if you found a steep enough wall) levelled Safe Fall 5 times doing what i do <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

The higher the fall the more chance of a skill-up it seems. I started on Nek Griff Tower, just running up the first ramp, and leveled fairly quick to 70ish I think (can't recall exactly). I just had auto-run on and made a circle, and would jump up and off the first ramp. The skill-ups kept coming slower and slower, so I moved to the rock face right across from the tower towards Zargons. There are two faces, one much higher than the other, where you can back up it and jump, and then back up it and jump. I did the shorter one first for a bit, then the higher one. Then I moved to the tall rock right by Nek gate, just doing the auto-run thing and making circles again. Pretty good fall distance off of that one. The rock at Nek beach works good too.Once I hit 135 I moved to a tall spot in Antonica, close to the TS zone. I get pretty quick skill-ups there, but if I miss I take horrendous damage.

Best area to play Nascar (tm, R and such) is as follows:Ranks 0-70 West Freeport, behind militia house, the stairs upwards.Ranks 71-130 Commons to Nek gate area.. large grey rock jutting into space. (can start here at 50, so long as you fall.. not jump.. off the rock).Ranks 130+ N'Mar's Ascent. Not really practical.. but fun!The Nascar method is because you make endless circles. It's more fun to do with a friend, whom you can "Race" around. Penalties are awarded for dying, failure to even jump high enough to have taken damage, and dying. Hehe. The best way to level up with the least ammount of effort.. is to find a cliff, run up, jump down, run up, jump down. I did this somewhat in Nek, running one way and jumping down, then back in the other way (I kept wanting to jump UP the cliff, not down..).

I found last night a good place to pass time while waiting for a group to go into nek castle is to jump off the cliff over the moat. When you walk up the bridge to Nek castle turn right. You will see a overhang near a Gargoyle. Just have pathfinding up and jump at the very edge and you will land on the ground below, leaping over the moat. Whats also funny is that you jump so high you can jump across the bats that fly around the castle.

To the guy who suggested practicing off n'mars ascent...Funny that, when i had safe fall to about 85 i did my Jboots heritage run in Nek, now theres a trick where you can jump of N'mars ascent and commit suicide, you re-spawn down the road close to d'abth bridge where you need to go next.so i jumped off, after making a joke over teamspeak about safe fall working for once...Splat... 0 damage. From a full on, sprint and leap as high as possible off the highest bit ... and landed without injury.Ok, so few hours later, a friend asks me to take him on the same run, he doesent know Nek as well as i do as he pretty much skipped the zone, and he needs me to Evac him at the beach. We do the run, and as we get to N'mars i tell him to jump off, being as hes a Bruiser and has safe fall over 150 and he should be fine...Sure enough he lands without injury, and keeps on running. Myself on the other hand, who doesent need this run and so doesent need any XP debt, lands with a resounding Thump, face down in the toadstools.Stupid skill.... but i love it.

ROFL, nice one Grindath. I plan on using this skill to annoy party members who go auto-follow on me <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> I was having fun a couple days ago negating damage from a jump on the Condemned Catacombs. The tank saw me taking dmg in the 100 range and decided to see what he would get ... 1800ish <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> I love safe fall.
When you enter Antonica from Thundering Steppes and you wind down that long trail, you come to a split in the road, both bringing you back to the same location. That split is a HUGE rock face that has a spine as you are running down from TS. You can run up this spine and see all across Antonica. It makes for a great screenshot and really nice jumping. One thing I have noticed and maybe someone can try it out to validate it: From this spot, if I land on flat land - I have taken no damage. Doing the same thing, from the same spot, landing on an incline - I have taken damage. Has anyone noticed this?

<DIV>good one I did the other day, </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I had a noob ask me were the docks were in the commonlands, deside I wanted to go into town anyways so I told him to follow me. When we get to the cliff knowing I can jump off saftly and have been doing ever sence this was fixed, I jump off the cliff down to the docks landing with no damage forgetting that I have a noob behind me following me. Next thing I know here he comes right behind me falling to the ground just to hear a big splat, and instant death. It was so funny I still can not stop laughing about it and that was a few days ago. </DIV>

The mine in Zek. Send the elevator down, jump down 1/2 way, then the rest of the way to the bottom. Ride the elevator back up and repeat. When I was earlier in safe fall levels I couldn't survive the full fall down, and this way you get two good jumps for no work.

wow on to the 2nd page and the true best and only spot to do this has still not made the list.mage tower in south (i think) qeynos. if it's not south , it's north.this tower has teleportation circles that you walk over which instantly teleport you up floors and right next to a shaft with several bridges sticking out of it. by falling down and landing on each bridge you can lvl up safe fall. when you get to the bottom you literally run 2 feet back into the portal and *poof* you are back up top ready to drop again. this is so much faster than the TS instances. you spend 0 time running back up stairs and you have just as many ways to vary the length of the fall.before you say 'but i'm evil", it doesn't matter. the guards in the zone are not very high lvl so they are gray to many and even when they are not if you play your cards right and watch their pathing you can easily get to the tower. once you are inside the tower, nothing is aggro. people will say things to you like 'i'm going to have to ask you to leave" and so on but that's it.there is no contest, this is the definitive place to do this and you can get all the way to 350 in that tower.<div></div>

The best place is the Vaults teleporter (instance in BS). Drop down the middle of the hole from the 2nd floor to just before the teleporter. The teleporter will take you back to the 2nd floor, 5 feet from the middle of the floor.Hope that helps.<div></div>

If you ask a ranger what BS is, he might talk about his class <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />. BS is barren sky. Vaults is an instance on whisperwind isle in barren sky. It's the second hardest instance after halls of fate, so make sure you are with a decent group.<div></div>

<DIV>Dunno what the obsession is with n'mar but if you wanna get your safe fall up the fastest way is the qeynos mage tower no place else beats it just get a rythem goin port up jump down port up jump down all you have to do is sneak into the tower if your a freeporter its really simple you should prolly get 150 or so before goin there but im currently at 300 and it still working for me you can just go up to a higher lvl the higher your safe fall is and either jump all the way or jump to a platform of a lower lvl.</DIV>

Agreed, Qeynos mage tower is the best. You find which platform you work from and jump down to land on that portal. You land, raise safefall, and ports you back up to jump again to the jump spot. No running or walking more then one or two steps at all. Once your ready for the next level, just jump down to its portal. And you can hit max in less then an hour.
