Is it just me, or is this the most gimped spell since Greths willing scout??you cast this, and you get some "weapon" that looks like a hat pin appear in your inventory. You cannot make more than one at the same time...its activateable, and goes in same slot as poison or torch, and you can use the item once. i used it a few times when forst getting it on some orange con mobs in RE. It hit for 78 > 85.woo hoo, what a good use of my time creating and putting that in my activate slot that was, NOT. i can hit for more than that with a medium hit spell. Anyone else think its gimped? if it hit for like 300 or something then yeah id use it as emergency damage or something... to finish off a mob when power is low or whatever. But 78 damage? not worth using.

Keep in mind that we are a predator and share some common things with a ranger. Ranger's get makeshift arrows so we in turn get makeshift weapon and on a far quicker refresh rate than their arrows.

The skill is ok in itself and the free 80ish damage really isnt that bad. The problems I have with the skill is that it places the weapon in the bag each time you cast. As every player knows well their bags are always filling up with loot and other trash items while out fighting so the weapon never goes to the same spot or at least not for long. What people do forget though is you can hotkey the activate slots by dragging them to your hotkey bar. So if the makeshift weapon actually went there to a free slot first and then your bag if no free slot was available then I think it could work out better. The fact that you always have find it and move it though drives me nuts as well so I often just dont bother with it.

Severly gimped, who wants to spend the time on using it, even with a bag open so you can right click equip as soon as you make it, and have a quick slot bar for it too, still not totaly worth it at all. By the time you can get an adept III or master for this ability you will have so many way better skills that arent time consuming that you wont care.

It's not too bad but realise it's not really designed to be used every single fight. Because it costs power to create the weapon but 0 power to use it it's more an emergancy use hit for those time a fight goes right down to the wire, when everyones on 1% hp and pow and that 80 damage really is handy for 0 power. I always keep one equiped and the slot hotbared just incase. It could use a little boost without a doubt tho.
Message Edited by Vladdax on 12-21-2004 04:02 PM

Personally I don't think this is meant to be used during a fight. It's more of a before/after fight "buff". You make it before the pull or when you finished your last mob if you have the power for it. It's a free hit that does good damage without using power (since you already used power to summon it). It is cumbersome to use though saddly. If the item went onto your mouse cursor I would use it more often. Then there's the little part where it sometimes refuses to have a "use" selection on it that's pretty annoying.

I fumbled around with this recently and had trouble figuring how to best apply it. I like that it is a 0 mana cost attack, but dont like trying to find it during fights. It would be nice if you could activate it from your inventory, or as Khaly said, have it go to your first available activatable slot. It would be even cooler if it would just convert into a direct damage spell with a 30 second recast when used in fights, and summon the activatable prison-shiv thing when out of combat. If it were totally up to me tho, I'd rather just be able to forrage for 10 carbonite throwing knives (+5 per spell level), like "makeshift arrows" which is a truly great spell.Blondebeard 30 AssassinWolfenheart 25.9 RangerMistmoore
Message Edited by Blondebeard on 12-27-2004 01:26 PM
I just got this spell a few minutes ago, and am thoroughly dissapointed with it too. While it only takes a few seconds to move it to a slot to make it active, when you are in a dungeon it is often not safe to have all your windows up trying to find the thing. If it was higher damage it could be nice i guess...anyone have an adept 1 (or higher) version? I'd rather just get the ranger's free arrows at this point...
I would rather it do more damage than be changed to make throwing knives actually. It would be nice if the weapon appears directly in first available atv slot instead of one of the bags.
Message Edited by Trei49 on 01-03-2005 08:11 AM
