<DIV>this might be a silly question, but I watch alot of anime cartoons and was wondering is the assassin class itself like playing a ninja? or is it different. If so i'd plan on having a assassin alt i'd like to play when my friend is not online to team-up with</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>any info on this would help, thanks in advance</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>also do assassins get the cool mask across the face? (this would rock if they do <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV><p>Message Edited by kidelf on <span class=date_text>12-20-2004</span> <span class=time_text>07:23 PM</span>

<DIV>thanks Vladd. I check other posts and all I can find is ppl talking about ninja looting and crap. killing the ninja name <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> makes me sick to hear that word being killed like that. but anyway, I don't really like pirates all that much (no ones on a boat here lol) I need something to do while my friend is offline, Guess I'll try to give it a shot ::cross fingers::</DIV> <DIV>if anyone can add to this please feel free to. I don't wanna waste my time playing a freeport pirate <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV><p>Message Edited by kidelf on <span class=date_text>12-21-2004</span> <span class=time_text>01:36 AM</span>

Heh yea ninja looting is jsut the art of jumping in and looting a mob corpse faster than anyone else, not really an issue with lotto mode.I wouldn't say we're exactly like anime or tradiional nijias, since our ranged specials use a bow we're not as effective with things like throwing daggersstars. Which is a shame since it would have been a nice why to make ranger and assasin different too.The cool thing is alot of our attacks are stealth based so you'll find yourself sneaking around and jumping out with big hits on mobs.

<DIV>Ok, i have to ask about the throwing shurikens...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What do you use in the ranged slot to throw them?  I use a sheath for throwing knives.  I know satchels and bandoliers are for axes and hammers.  What's for shurikens?  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And as a 26 tailor, I know I can make the other 3, but there's nothing else like them in my recipe book, so from where does the mystery ranged item come?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I don't care over-much, but the other day a player was asking me to make him the item for throwing stars and I was surprised to see it wasn't in my book.  I could ask on the traders board, but you guys might know more on this subject.</DIV>

<DIV>Shurikens use Pouches, stupid thing is, is that you can only get pouches from vendors, no players can make them for some reason nor are there quests to upgrade them, they are only basic.  I use Shurikens and get angry every time I see someone else with an upgrade of the same lvl for everything else but mine, so thinking about changing until they add player made Pouches.</DIV>

<DIV>No.. I dont believe we are ninjas.  Assassins maybe, but not ninjas.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Would you call a highly trained hitman a ninja?  No.</DIV>

But I would call a ninja a highly trained hit man though <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<DIV>Well I would say we share some aspects like being trained at stealth and escape. Although I believe ninja in real world history were trained in non-weapon fighting also. I actually chose to be an Assassin becuase of the close similarities but I understand that the EQ2 creators were trying to keep the classes within a consistent realm of fantasy. But if you are an assassin and want to call yourself one in EQ2 its not that far of a stretch.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As to the question about masks, I have yet to see any type of headgear that looks like anything other than helmets.</DIV>

Does it matter if they are like ninjas? They aren't ninjas. No matter how similar they are still assasins. Just play an assasin because you like it for what it is.

If every class in EQ2 were ranked according to Ninjidity, Assassins would be at the top of the list. They ARE stealthy killers with some quasi-mystical abilities. But they still aren't Ninjas.

Well according to dictionary.comAssassin - They were members of a secret Islamic order originating in the 11th century who believed it was a religious duty to harass and murder their enemies. The most important members of the order were those who actually did the killing. Having been promised paradise in return for dying in action, the killers, it is said, were made to yearn for paradise by being given a life of pleasure that included the use of hashish. From this came the name for the secret order as a whole, an, “hashish users.” After passing through French or Italian, the word came into English and is recorded in 1603 with reference to the Muslim Assassins.Ninja - A member of a class of 14th-century Japanese mercenary agents who were trained in the martial arts and hired for covert operations such as assassination and sabotage. With this in mind the Assassin in EQ2 is more like a Polar Bear that wears meadium armor. Now I ask you can we make this topic gayer then this?
