<DIV>Just curious. I read the earlier rat topic but still have questions. Does the thing obey commands like other pets? Or is it like the enchanter pets from the earlier EQ...basically uncommandable? Or is it just a weak little thing that can't do any kind of actual dmg output? I mean, it has to have some benefits right? Like allowing you to run away should things get bad and it die in your place? Or am I giving it too much credit?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>-Samurai</DIV>

<DIV>It's purely for show.  It follows some commands like follow, guard, etc but won't attack on command.  It is meant to be purely for fun and no real benefit.</DIV>

<DIV>What a waste in my opinion. I could see some real potential in a pet like this. Assassins can apply poison right? Well shoot, rats carry poison. If you ever need some more ingredients, use the rat! That raises an interesting question though, could you then consider this a lab rat? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Perhaps Verant will consider making this useful in the future.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>-Samurai</DIV>

<DIV>There is a bug with this pet, it is supposed to be completely useless, and 90% of the time it is. But i always have my pet out now, because sometimes they glitch and if you take agro he will tank for you, this is no joke either. In one fight i took agro 3 times and 3 times he tanked for me. Only down side is when you zone you lose ur pet and its a 10min recast. So only cast him when you are in the zone you are gonna be fighting in.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So agian there is a rare glitch with the pet and he will occasionally tank for you when you take agro.</DIV>

<DIV>Assassins don't require fluff...they require the means to accomplish their tasks and goals...which is to kill as efficiently, cleanly, and quietly as possible. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>*/e steps down from soapbox*</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>-Samurai</DIV>

<DIV>I don't think they're going to remove the 'fluff' spell because we don't need it. That's kinda the point of it in the first place. :smileywink:</DIV>

I don't think the rat tanking is a bug and I don't think the rat is completely useless. I usually have mine out at all times because it is useful if you have to run away. If you run away from an encounter and mobs are after you, use a skill like evade and the mobs will normally aggro the rat pet. Works nearly every time.

I read a post somewhere, I think by Moorgurd, that pets cause encounters to continue to pursue longer than they're supposed to because somehow the pet retains agro. If you park your rat somewhere and "stalk" a mob, the mob will run right for your pet at first. Might be able to pull mobs out of big agro spots doing that, but I'd consider it an exploit if it works. I've never tried.I think the rat is cute. =)He really doesn't need to do anything, but I'd like to be able to name him at least.
