<DIV> I'll admit off the bat Im an EQ 2 newb. I have been playing die-hard for nearly 2 weeks now and am near 22 Assassin however I need some help in regards to what I am doing wrong if anything at all. My two questions are:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1. Shrouded Strike to (insert stealh move here)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> I recently was told that by utilizing SS you can then complete a stealth move like Shadow Blade. I know this works since I have managed to pull it off in groups on the rare occasion. My SS is only still Apprentice 1 but I cant seem to manage to get this combo off on a frequent basis. I know you must be quick and I always am in hitting the buttons but like I said its as rare as Coral that I make the link. Im tired of stopping combat, Hunting, then Shadowblading. Does this combo have a chance of failure to it? And if so by upgrading to SS Aprentince 3 will this up my chances? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2. Stalking to (insert Stealth move here)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Pretty much same as above. Arent I able to to activate Stalk in a group then follow up with a stealth move? I mean I know I can by reading the boards but this is even rarer for me to pull off then the problem above. I have Stalk Adept 1 and see no difference in performing this combo as I did in with Apprentice 1. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any help would be greatly appreciated... Im trying to become an adept wielder of my arts for my benefit of course... but more importantly for the benefit of my fellow players. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV align=center>Huntryss Elvenchild</DIV> <DIV align=center><Eternal Flame></DIV> <DIV align=center>Crushbone</DIV>

<DIV>Shrouded Strike only has a random chance os stealthing you, not every time you use it... when you are stealthed then you can use Shadow Blade.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Stalking can only be used when a mob is targeted, which will then stealth you for attack. If you are solo you should only use Stalking to pull mobs as as soon as you use it they go aggro... if in a group you can alternate between Hunt and Stalk to use your stealth attack from behind. </DIV>

<DIV>Ahhh so the reason my Stalking is failing mid-combat might be because I always have the MT targeted for assistance during the fight? So I should just quickly target the mob mid-combat instead then off I go with Stalk? If its that I easy I feel ashamed of myself :smileyindifferent:</DIV> <P>Message Edited by HuntressSWG on <SPAN class=date_text>12-05-2004</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>07:58 AM</SPAN></P><p>Message Edited by HuntressSWG on <span class=date_text>12-05-2004</span> <span class=time_text>07:59 AM</span>

<DIV>Hi, 19 pred here, real close to 20, Here's what I do, when in a group after the target has been engaged I'll hit the melee button that stops me from attacking, then hunt, then shadow blade, ambush ect etc, works great for me after a little practice</DIV>

<DIV>i hit shrouded strike > atk off > shadowblade > stalk > atk off > cut throat and never have a problem with not being able to enter stealth unless i get hit with an AE or i get agro from the mob</DIV>

<DIV>I didnt think shrouded strike was only a random chance to stealth you. In beta and now in retail I have yet to have it not fail unless I forget to turn auto combat off just before it goes off. I use it quite a bit in combat when grouped.</DIV>

You're unstealthing because you're still in melee.</DIV>

<DIV>Here is the easiest way I have found to do this.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Use Shrouded strike, hit Esc key before your even finished executing it... this will stop your auto-attack.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Then, depending on if your fighting multiple, or just one mob, you can either hit tab then your attack... or just click on the tank in your group window, then execute your attack to assist.</DIV>

<DIV> <DIV>"Shrouded Strike only has a random chance os stealthing you, not every time you use it... when you are stealthed then you can use Shadow Blade."</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Its not a random chance. You stealth if you hit the target. If you miss you dont stealth. Also, as has been pointed out, you start your attack for shrouded strike, turn off melee in the middle of your swing. If you hit you will be in stealth mode and ready for a stealth attack. If you miss you just need to hit melee again or a regular attack.</DIV></DIV>

<DIV>Stalk and shrouded strike both work on the same principles as mentioned above. The key is attack has to be off or else you will break the stealth. I moved shrouded strike to the 1 key. So I go 1 then quickly hit ` then whichever stealth attacks, poisoners, hidden assault, cut throat, ebon blade or whichever suits the situation. Having it by the 1 key though does help because then you don't have to move far at all. The combinations are totally timing moves though so you need to learn to time it. Start learning with stalk I would guess. to use stalk turn attack off, stalk and then attack. Once you get that timing down, try stalk, atk off, stealth move and if you can do that then you are fine and can do shrouded strike.</DIV>

<DIV>As already mentioned, SS stealths you <STRONG>every time it hits.</STRONG> It's not random, it always works, unless you miss. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The trick is, just hit SS, auto attack off, and then immediately queue up your stealth attack. Even if SS misses, your stealth attack will fail, but it will automatically put you back in attack mode. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Someone else suggested hitting escape to clear target, but I think that is a bad idea. With SS, you'll be clearing your target every 15 seconds or so. Talk about a lot of wasted effort. </DIV><p>Message Edited by Nagorak3 on <span class=date_text>12-05-2004</span> <span class=time_text>05:02 PM</span>

Or an even more simple way, keep your distance to the target so you dont hit him without special attacks. It takes some time to get the location right, but there is a certain distance where you can stalk and ss the enemy without trouble, hit him with the shadowblade and asassins blade, and close in again, no turning on or off of autoattack involved.

Sure thing, pal. :smileywink:</DIV>
