Just a word of advice..I upgraded my Slip Away to Adept I and now I can no longer attack with stealth combat arts when stealthed with Slip Away, it gives me the message "You must be stealthed in order to use this attack...".Worked great before upgrading to Adept I.On another note I notice I move faster with Adept I then I did with Apprentice I.This has also been /bug'ged.

<DIV>You should be moving faster with adept 1 as well as sneaking by higher level mobs. The thing to realize though is that slip away is more of an exploration skill than a replacement to hunt. The skill is the same as smuggler's talent for rogues with a different name essentially so don't confuse it as an upgrade to hunt. Hunt is still the better skill in a group to use but slip away is good for covering ground and exploring since it has a much longer refresh. If I am in slip away I just open with shrouded strike to get stealth back quick and then go into a stealth move or you could always switch to stalk and then attack as well to get around it.</DIV><p>Message Edited by khalysta on <span class=date_text>12-01-2004</span> <span class=time_text>09:37 AM</span>

<DIV>I too have had this happen to me. However as K pointed out I dont start combat from Slip Away anymore at all. Its far more beneficial to be able to move quickly past aggro mobs. With slip away I was able to go all the way to the bottom of FG and explore to my hearts content and also to complete that silly gong quest I could never seem to get a group to do.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In combat I exclusively use Shrouded stike prior to my stealh attack. Its the best way to get behind a mob quick, hit it while stealthing up and then out with the big hit of the assassins blade. Doing it this way also gives the main tanks a few secs to really get the aggro so its less likely your big hit will draw aggro when it goes off.</DIV>
Also, the "must be in stealth message" has nothing to do with upgrading to Adept 1. It just started happening for some reason for me at apprentice 1 before I upgraded.

I was not really looking for advice how to play but thanks anyway.I don't use Slip Away over hunt... but this is still an issue. It used to work fine and it must be a bug that it thinks you are not stealthed when you in fact are. The downside with Slip Away is that it can not be cast while in an encounter. You can however cast hunt while you are in Slip Away and the effect of hunt will take over, voila you can attack, but.. the skill still has an issue. It's good for everyone to know about this before upgrading, we will see if they fix it or change this to a purely non-combat stealth skill, for now I consider it half-broken.
<DIV>Matt is right, before upgrading, you could turn off attack, hit slip away, which is instant basically, then use a stealth based attack with no delay. Now that I upgraded to adept, it gives the must be stealthed after using slip away when trying to use a stealth based attack. The advantade of slip away over hunt was the fact that it was instant, allowing us to put another stealth based attack into the combat cycle.</DIV>

<DIV>I dont think its a bug. Its an out of combat stealth. More than likely the bug is that you were able to attack from it in the first place.</DIV>

<DIV>"Out of combat" to me means that you can not use this skill while engaged in combat, which makes perfect sense, however it does not make sense that you would not be able to attack while already stealthed from this "Out of combat" skill.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If they want it to be this way they should also change the description explaining that the concentration required to use this skill hinders you from engaging in combat, or something like that.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So we have confirmed that you can not attack with the Apprentice I version either now?</DIV>

BTW Ithas nothng to do with adept 1, my app1 doesn't work also for combat, it happend after last patch.
<DIV>Please drop the attitude Archzinno, I never said I thought it was working as intended before or after, I just confirmed that before upgrading to adept, I could use slip away to let me use stealth based attacks.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>dur....</DIV><p>Message Edited by Dupek on <span class=date_text>12-03-2004</span> <span class=time_text>12:59 AM</span>

stack them.slip away + hunt = teh win.
<DIV>I've found this happens only when I hit or click the Slip Away button twice quickly, by accident.</DIV> <DIV>For some reason, the button does not become inactive immediately and it is able to trigger again, leaving me in stealth, but for combat purpses, I've been taken out.</DIV> <DIV>Using Hunt, like the poster above said, is the only way I've been able to "get back into stealth" as far as combat was concerned. </DIV> <DIV>The mobs still do not see me when Slip Away is applied twice like this. </DIV>

<DIV>Out of combat = you <STRONG>and</STRONG> everyone else in your group are not attacking anything, or someone has yelled for help.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Slip Away = out of combat stealth. If you try to perform a stealth attack from Slip Away it will not work, because it is an out of combat stealth. This grants faster movement speed since it is not for use in combat, but rather to move past enemies while stealthed (exploring).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Hunt = plain ol' stealth + see invis. Works in combat and out of combat.</DIV>

<DIV>Honestly, I find it somewhat annoying that these skills are differentiated. But, that's just how it is. Slip Away is nice, but Hunt is still on my hotkey bar, obviously. </DIV>
<DIV>I've seen a dev mention this is suppose to be an <FONT color=#ffff00>out </FONT>of combat stealth. So I'd guess they fixed it in that last patch.</DIV>

I use slip away and shadow blade to open just about every single fight when soloing. I like slip away for the quick cast - allows me to get up behind a mob, stealth quickly, then shadow blade to start. If slip away is working incorrectly and this is a bug, it wasn't fixed as of last night...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Only when slip away is triggered twice accidentally, can I not attack using a stealth attack.</DIV>

I have slip away on Appr. 1 and I can still use it, while already engaged in fighting, to throw in another stealthattack. Works even when I am soloing, I dont get burry when using it, but instantly after the encounter I get stealthed. On top of that, I can use that last stealth after the encounter to stealthattack again on a new target.

<DIV>Slip away does not work the same upgraded BUT DOES stack with hunt giving you the benefits of speed, see invis AND stealth though it does not upgrade the level of stealth you are at...it stays with the level of slip away...so answer is simple...stack hunt on top of slip away and you have the speed and the ability to stealth attack...at least at the moment until the nerf that too =P</DIV>
<DIV>I have no idea what some of you are doing or if it's just a bug 'cause my Slip Away is only Apprentice 1, but you CAN use stealth attacks from Slip Away. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Like another poster said I use it EVERYTIME I open a fight. Slip Away -> Shadow Blade. Maybe it's a bug with Adept 1 OR maybe my App 1 is bugged, but it does work...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I can say that my Slip Away does NOT grant me much of a movement boost which could be because it's only App 1. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>*shrugs*</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV> <DIV>Not sure why people are having problems with Slip Away, I was using this to open combat with right up until last night with no issues at all.. SA, get into position, start your stealth attacks cycle - worked fine and has since the day I got it. I've not bothered to upgrade mine yet, and if doing so removes my ability to use it as I have been then I'll deliberately not do so.</DIV></DIV>
<DIV>once again...yes, app1 slip away works with stealth attacks but adept 1 does not...i will say that you move a HELL of alot faster with adept 1 over app1 so if you do want to upgrade just remember to stack hunt with slip away and you still have the upgraded movement + see invis + stealth attack...one of them has to be bugged and i'm pretty sure it's app1 as it's listed as a NON combat stealth ... be about the same as attacking while invis'd so might as well get used to stacking now (if that isn't a bug too =P)</DIV>

<DIV>When I got Slip Away for the first time Apprentice 1 . I found it would not let me attack from that mode. I had to go back into Hunt mode then attack. I think its intentional and its just the fact they fixed the bug. </DIV>

<DIV>Once again... The observation here is that irrespective of it's apparent fixing when you upgrade, it appears that the spell seems to allow attacks to be launched for some but not for others at App I level. It would be good to know why - maybe they fixed it at a certain point and those that had already got it retained the 'bugged' version? Any new ones or upgraded ones receive the 'fixed' non-attack version?</DIV>

Also with the patch next week they have fixed so you can't stack the different stealth moves, you won't be able to use Slip Away + Hunt any more.

<DIV>I've experienced this as well. When I had App1 I could start with a stealth attack but as soon as I upgraded to Adept 1 I can no longer start off with a stealth attack. When it says non-combat stealth I take that to mean that during combat you can't use slip away. I think you should be able to make a stealth attack if you are in slipaway mode to start with but not after that.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Belgarog</DIV> <DIV>22 Lvl Ratonga Assassin</DIV> <DIV>Antonia Bayle</DIV>

<DIV> Just got slip away tuesday night, and I use it with combat arts every day. No problems here, unless I stack stealths. If i'm hunting, and slip away, or slipped away, and slip away again, then the game won't register me as stealthed. Beyond that it works fine for me.</DIV>
