<DIV>Hello fellow upcoming assassins.  I had a few nagging questions and wanted to get them out so I feel better about myself.  I want ot be the best assassin that I can be but I fear I chose the wrong race.  I am currently a lvl 9 Half-Elf scout on my way to become a Predetor and furthermore an assassin.  I love the scout class so far but I fear like a n00b I didn't do my research very well.  It looks to me like the kitty race would make a better scout then the Half-Elf because of the additional strength.  I guess I would like to hear some opinions as to whether I should change to a kitty or stay a half breed.  Does the extra strength really make much of a difference?  I want to know as soon as possible because, as I said, I am already lvl 9 and it didn't take me that long to get here so before I spend a few weeks lvling I want to make the change now.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I know most of you are going to say, play what you feel is right and enjoy the game and I do, don't get me wrong, but I'm more picky about being an effective assassin then I am about what race I am.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any help or opinions are appreciated.</DIV>

<DIV>Starting stats are irrelevant, buddy. I beta'd an Assassin, trust me on this. I'm going Teir'Dal Assassin, with strength lower than yours. Equipment will make all the difference. Also, grab Brawny at level 8 for the additional strenght boost. But again...starting stats don't matter...play the race you want. :smileyhappy:</DIV>

I tend to disagree slightly. From lvl 1 ~ 20 the beginning stats do matter.for example agi 20 or agi 30.At lvl 16 you'll have total agi 100 or 110. Difference is 10% which is notable during gameplay. Okay after that the difference gets less and less. Difference are minor and i would indeed just pick any race you like to play. Just dont be surprised when a betrayed wood elf can kill just a lil more at lvl 15 then you can. They just got a lil edge on you which will be gone when you finally hit assasin.

<DIV>It don't matter i played a assassin as well as 4 other classes to post 20 in beta assassin was highest at 31, and you will strugle to find a meaningful differance between the differant races when it comes to class selction this game is all about gear.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>btw i am sure you are awear that half-elfs cannot become a assassin unless you do the traitor quest, i know alot of people in beta who never knew this so just checking ,if you do gl on the traitor quest sure is a long old quest</DIV>

Half-Elves can start in either Qeynos or Freeport, and thus don't have to do any betrayal quests. </FONT></DIV>

first off a half elf is a very good scout one of the best. (What I mean by best is the amount of agi you have) The biggest part in becoming a good scout is knowing your skills and when to use them. I am playing a Kerran Rogue right now and I take off about 5 damage per normal melee attack with a 2 - 7 damage weapon. I am lvl 10 and the weapon is green to me (yeah I want to upgrade) I bet your damage is close to mine. With my gear and all I have a str of about 28 . . probabely higher since that is what it was at lvl 9 and I just became a rogue yesterday . . I bet I have a 31 str now. I would say that you should stick with your toon for you will be a very good assassin . . . if you learn how to use your skills.

<DIV>Thanks for the replies guys.  As it turns out I have to re-roll regardless.  All my cohorts from my SWG PA are jumping on a different server.  Bah!  Oh well, I got to lvl 10 last night and I was very stoked.  I love being a scout.  It just seems so much more complicated then the fighter line.  I dig complication.  I can't play a char who all you have to look forward to is swing, swing, swing, special attack with higher damage, swing, swing.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I love having to stun my victim then run behind them and hit them with a backstab.  That takes a bit of skill and getting used to.  It's so much more rewarding to attempt to do that and possible fail then to mash a button.  No discredit to fighters, I mean we need meat shields as well.  But the scout thing is so much more rewarding.  At least to this player anyway.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So again thanks for your input.  I'm thinking since I doesn't make much of a diff then I'm going to make my new char a kitty or a wood elf.  Maybe even a dark elf.  Not sure though.</DIV>

I always thought that agility was more important than strength when it came to being a scout. If damage output was one of your main concerns why not play a fighter class? They get some really nice looking gear as well.

<DIV>Hellcyon, assassins/rangers are supposed to hugely out damage any fighter class mate <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Damage should be the main concern of most scouts, especially assassins... we have one of the highest DPS in the game for a melee character, and totally rely on our ability to do good damage. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>I was under the impression that our dps was directly linked with our primary stat - agility.  Its not how hard to stick em, but the precision of dagger placement thich results in the high damage that we do.</DIV>

<DIV>Whoops, text vanished, let's try this again:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Strength is the only stat that will make you do more melee damage. Our agility directly relates to our power (mana). So if you want to hit harder, add some strength. However, agility should be your primary focus as running out of power would be a bad thing. I'm a ratonga (not real strong) and when given the chance I put more points into agility, and I still seem to have no problem doing tons of damage. Better weapons and str improving gear will also help.</DIV><p>Message Edited by superransom on <span class=date_text>11-22-2004</span> <span class=time_text>11:31 AM</span>

<DIV>The damage from our abilities such as Shadow Blade are unrelated to the weapons we use, so a safe bet would be that AGI is factored into the equation for their damage somewhere (if it isn't the main component) -along with a lot of other things such as class level, skill level, etc...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I notice that when my AGI is majorly Druid-buffed (+20-30 points) that my Shadow's Blade attacks can be up to 50 points stronger than usual. Has anyone else noticed this?</DIV>

In my experience Agility is more important. The Agility Buff that we get Hunter's Instinct determines whether I win or lose a fight in a lot of cases (while soloing). That is only 9 agility at my level (16).Also, I have seen a ton of Ogre Mages lately. I don't know if it's a WarCraft 3 thing or what, but it's all the rage on Lucan D'Lere server. They do just fine; I can't tell the difference between an Erudite Mage and an Ogre Mage (I have grouped with a lot of them).

<DIV>It sounds like you are based in Qeynos, If so you may have a hard time findng an Assasin trainer. I thought they were only in Freeport.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>By the way I am a Ratoonga as well as one of my frineds which has the lowest strength and have one of the highest dammage melee hits on the server.</DIV>

<DIV>Kerra is a good choice stat wise (though as mentioned it means little). Above average str/dex/stam and they look cool. :smileywink:</DIV><p>Message Edited by Dniper on <span class=date_text>11-24-2004</span> <span class=time_text>08:56 AM</span>

<DIV>I don't know why I was thinking Half Elf was Good only. I see no reason why they would not make a great Assasin.</DIV>

<DIV>They're probably confused because of the "elf" in half-elf, since all other elfs are based in the good city, and it's the first choice that comes up when you select half elf. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Personally I'm going to be a Wood Elf Assassin. Not for stats (they have low str anyway), but for looks (female model here) and because I found the betrayal quest to be quite fun. I find it fun to play a good race and become a evil class.</DIV>

<DIV>from my under standing more agi is always better for more then just power (mana). Being that we can only wear medium armor, more agi adds to defense, parry and mobs missing us. Now at lvl 8 I did go with the str trait, but I was under the impression that we will get to pick 3 more of those, and for that I will pick agi. I also thought we were suppose to get tactics and traditions in addition to traits, where are these what lvl do they start??</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Oh and could some one explain status points to me.. (nah ill make a new post for that)</DIV>
