I've searched several forums looking for a comprehensive comparison of the various T7 Fabled Bows (or other), no luck. Has anyone done this yet? I don't pretend to understand the mechanics of the game as well as some people actually do. As such, if there is not a comparison out there yet, perhaps someone could do one? I ask this for several reasons. For example, my guild raids both Labs and Lyceum at this time. I am currently using Rain Caller and/or Grizz. Though neither the Wurm Destroyer Bow or the Sinew Wrapped Longbow have dropped in either raid, eventually they will. So, being a Ranger, which of these do I spend my hard earned DKP on? Alternatively, I don't want to be greedy and just grab the first one that drops if it would actually be better for one of our other classes to get it. We will be raiding HoS, DT, etc. eventually. Perhaps not in the next month, but eventually. So, should I just let both of these go when they drop? As I mentioned above, there are clearly some people who visit these forums that have a far better understanding of the mechanics of this game, perhaps one of you could do a really good comparison of the various bows out there?

forget the wurm shortbow, its complete rubbish. You will find the mobs will be deflecting and parrying a lot more of your bow shots when you use it so your dps will drop to the floor. Even with the damage proc my DPS was lower using it than when I used grizz or dark fury. If you raid death toll then you want either of the arrow making bows that drop, The short bow for the T8 arrows and still use with grizz or if the long bow drops then you can use the arrows and also the bow. Then theres the sinew bow or the bow that venny drops in HOS which i cant remember how to spell :smileytongue:

I would, and did on several occassions, pass up the wurmdestroyer. Shortbows just dont cut it in this game for rangers.

To answer the OPs question though. Whatever bow drops first, thats the one I'd pick up, if a better one drops later, and you have the DKP for it, then pick that one up. The problem is, if you wait around for a specific bow to drop, theres a good chance you'll pass up another bow, that could boost your DPS (even if slightly) while you wait for what some of us would tell you seemed like forever + 1.

The way I see it, if Bow A boosts your DPS and you pick it up.. the whole raid benifits. If you picked up Bow A the week before, and Bow B drops which will also increase your DPS... then it benifits the raid. The only problem with that would be if you are not the only ranger in the raid. Then, you'd prolly have to be worry about being greedy. But I wouldnt be upset if I picked up say .. the snew wrapped longbow one week, and Bazkul or Sarnak dropped the following week and I bid on that and beat out say a Fighter class for it. Most players, aside from rangers, only want a bow for stats and the occassional bow shot. Rangers depend on a bow to deal thier damage.

An understanding guild can make a lot of difference to some classes. We have 2 Rangers and although we run a DKP system, every time a bow upgrade for either of us has dropped, they have always been awarded to the Rangers. The raid as a whole understands the benefits of having certain items going to the classes that make the best use of them. My dual wields are quite poor - that's because I don't bid on them if they are upgrades for the pure melee DPS classes.

By the same token, our raid tanks don't have DKP - they are awarded anything that is an upgrade to them automatically. That said, they are very sensible about it and will usually pass on items that might be better elsewhere unless it's a clear tanking upgrade. It's about common sense, understaning your raids needs and maturity. Although we have a DKP system, most people in our guild are flexible and prepared to work around it to the benefit of the guild as a whole.

Mirdo.
