Hello, I am recently lvling my ranger to pvp with (on nagafen server). I am having one hell of a time beating anyone. I am curious as to what I should be trying to do. I am trying my hardest to get my bow specials off before they get to me or mid fight with the lunge (root) CA.

The root on it only lasts for like 4 secs and thats barely enough time to back up and maybe fire one off. What do you do when that brigand gets in melee range? Do you melee it out or what? Any tips are very helpful, as I am pretty new at this class and pvp in general. I realize gear is a huge factor. Most of my CAs are atleast adept.

If your not "twinked" out your gonna have a hard time around that level. Many other toons lock their levels in that tier and have 100% adept3 spells/ca's and full sets of mastercrafted gear. This makes a big difference in a fight.

Never toe-to-toe with a brig as a ranger.

Best thing you can do is keep ranged, use all 3 types of poisons and get your STR as high as possible.

what he said. If you aren't twinked as good or better than they are, you aren't gonna have to much of a chance. Just level past all the lockers, make money, get gear and abilities, and kill people later

I stay clear of the main PvP area's if I am solo'ing my ranger or dirge, you end up with a group gang [Removed for Content] you. I like to patrol Nek Forest, Ant, EL and Orcville.

Get the jump on the enemy and stay way from toe to toe, you do more damage with your bow.

I have to disagree with the brig statement, you can go toe to toe with any class, if you kite well.

You really need to make sure you're getting the jump on your opponants. The key is to get off 2-3 ranged CA's before your target even knows you're there. When they do know you're there, you just need to slow them down so you can run to ranged distance and get your other ranged CA's off.

Also use ur root and hope right after to root ur enemy and gain range. Use cheapshot the same way. Remeber try as hard as possible to get range. However if u get rooted by the brigand use that moment to use ur melee CAs. You wont be able to use shadowlunge, so use surveilence and use shadowflame. Also if u see a brigand or anyother class rushing you then dunt try to use hidden fire. Use other range CA, and u can also try running back and useing pounce if the area is clear of adds.

1 techincall setting that will help a lot in kitting is.

Go to options->controls->view options

turn to view relative for a second and unlick both auto view options

then turn it back to avatar relative.

What this basically will do is the camera and u will not autoface the enemy. This will help u run faster when ur kiting.

Message Edited by nirav21 on 01-24-2007 07:34 PM

Brig melee vs ranger melee = dead ranger.

Message Edited by BeatinGuts on 01-26-2007 09:31 AM

Chances are if a Brig gets in melee range, you won't be able to move much. If that's the case you need to spam all of your melee attacks while trying to run....once you can run, snare and root him, run away, then go back to ranged attacks.
