Str gives you extra damage, agil gives you power and avoidance.. Int also boosts your spell damage, wis increases your resists.. And I keep meaning to say dex for some reason Rangers are a wanted class on all servers, although rangers have a hard time in the early days of pvp.. We require snares to keep people away, and we dont get past 40% on our snares untill we hit level 50. After that its much easier to duel more classes.. However, you should still be able to pegout a mage really quickly.

Do rangers get many actual "spells" or is it mostly combat attacks?

there are a few spells but not like what you are probably thinking. Those spells are for summoning a couple of arrows or Bongo's Mouse. But most ranger skills are in the form of combat attacks.

Are poisons something you need to buy and apply or are they part of the combat art

poisons are bought from vendors or the brokers for player crafted ones. You can stack different types of poisons on your weapons, but you wont see those for a few levels if I remember correctly.

You right click on the poison and use "use" to apply the poison. It will then apply the poison to all your weapons and will give you a buff icon in your buff bar. The poison will last for 12 hours or a specific number of procs, whichever comes first (100 procs for regular damage potions and less for some of the other types). The number of procs per application will show in the description of the poison. The remaining procs on an application will show in your buff bar so you can keep an eye on when you will run out soon and need to reapply. I always seemed to miss when my poisons wore off and would have a few rough fights before I clued into it being gone.

Message Edited by Bithnar on 01-11-2007 11:20 AM

Do rangers need actual arrows or just the bow? If they do need arrows is this a hefty expence on top of already needing extras like poisons.

Also do we get any melee attacks?

PvP rangers aren't really desired on PvP servers anymore. The reason being is that there are so many of them, and if you know how to play them, you own everybody else. Freeport hates rangers. They always complain about us and how cheap we are. If you want to own in PvP without being freeport, Ranger is the way to go. Or swash. Watch my vid on these boards to see what PvP looks like as a ranger. If you're looking for wanted classes in PvP, they're looking for lots of tanks and healers all of the time. But rangers ftw.
