To the OP: Some reason people are tricking rangers to lock at 16 because most of our Ranged arts don't even come in til the mid 20's i believe

at least wait until you get your first offensive stance before you lock

Rangers are still formidable at that level. With softcapped STR and a decent bow you'll tear thru mages with auto attacks alone. Combine the 1 or 2 ranged CA's plus poison and you'll be able to farm anything < your level fairly easilly. How do I know? I locked a 100% twinked mage and defiler at lvl16 and rangers were my # 1 threat. You can root them all you like... that auto will still nail you.

Better yet, go to 70 IMO.

Level locking at lvl 16 is the worst idea I've ever heard for a PvP ranger. You don't have your good ranged CA's. If you saturate yourself in fabled gear (what there is at lvl 16, if any), or even legendary gear, you're still going to get destroyed if you solo.

At lvl 16 Ranger have 2 snares.

one is vines line at 55% i think at Master and other is backshot line about same at master lvl

The reason why i say its easy to kite is because most melee classes dunt have there roots and range attacks yet.

Brigand is the most important enemy you have to worry about. Since they can track you when your stealthed.

Also i doubt that any Bruisers will be able to get Mantis leap on there aa by this time.

So Ranger have pretty good arsneal advantage over other classes.

2 snares.

Cheapshot 4 sec

1- 4 sec root

pointblack shot is also easy to get aa wise. another 2 sec stun and knockback.

plus backshot m1 does about 300dmg and shadowleap m2 should do about 300dmg

combined with cheap master caustic poision at this lvl.

Rangers look pretty good.

The only true thing to worry about is no see stealth capability plus no totems.

Its a good idea to duo with a Swashie.

Personally, I would lock at lvl 22-24 because of the amount of freeps that swarm the caves at lvl 20. I also wouldn't waste my money on the fabled gear.

1. Buy mastercrafted armor

2. Buy Fabled longbow/weapons and use player made arrows.

3. Buy all Master I skills, at least the big damaged ones.

You will take most players down before they know what hit them.
