<DIV>Ok so iv'e been an Assassin lvl 16-51 and now BAM all these ranged attacks. I can definately say it took me 45 minutes just to set up my [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] hotbar. I cant even play anymore i get owned constantly and i dont even want to pvp. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>How can I possibly get into this ranged mentality? I saw a WIzzy and imediately went close and stealth and couldn't find my assinate button rofl got owned there with only like 4 melee attacks.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Can anyone show me their button setup? I love ranged combat but last time i was a ranger was a LONG time ago. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Oh ya and HOW can i stay a distance from anything? I have 1 root and 1 stun <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Theres got to be a trick to soloing</DIV>

<div></div>You've got two ranged attacks that snare(Culling and snaring), a snare in it's own right (vines), a root, a ranged attack that stuns(sniper shot), a melee stun(lunging) and another stun(point blank) if you have the right AA. Use fettering poisons and some mobs wont even get close enough for melee attacks.Either open with a big hitter followed by a snare or a snare of some sort. Once a mob is snared you can happily (dependant on location) move further away and thus gain more ranged attacks, vines and lunging are able to be cast on the move so you can be backing away from a mob while hitting it with those, if fettering procs at the same time as a snare you're laughing.Don't forget to use your trap and attack hawk too, both will do a good job of keeping mobs away from you for a bit if they are used correctly.<div></div><p>Message Edited by Nuladen on <span class=date_text>01-04-2007</span> <span class=time_text>10:08 AM</span>

In PvP, don't open with Sniper Shot on anything that can Evac.. because A) It knocks them back, so if you're maxed range and sniper shot they have time before you're in range again to evac..  B) if the SS doesn't drop them to less than 50% it'll take too long to finish them off before they Evac.Open with veiled Fire, followed by Triple Volley, if they are coming at you tag them with Vines + Corner. back up hit them with Precise Shot followed by Confounding Arrow and Snaring Shot.. if they're not dead yet, you have two options..Option1) make sure they are snared (Snaring Shot should have done it, if not tag them with Vines again).  Once snared, use Surviellance to IC Stealth and start casting Selection while backpeddling (Selection is one of 2 Ranged CAs that can be cast on the move).  Option 2) If they are getting too close: Run at them, using Lunging Joust and Cheap Shot (Root then Stun) and keep running past them to get distance.  Fire Snaring Shot again if it's up. if not just unload with any Ranged CAs you have..  Also when you run past them tag them with Mortal Reminder right after you stun (it's a DoT and very affective at this point in the fight).  If they still aren't dead after all that... you're either fighting a GM or have crap for gear / spells *grins*Same tactics can be used in the lower tiers just subsitute CAs for the relative lower level version.I would also avoid using the Attack Hawk against anything other than Brigs / Assassins.. Because at this point it's only real usefulness is keeping people from Stealthing for a short time.  But it also keeps you from stealthing too, so using against anything other than those two classes just hurts you, IMO.Another thing is Master the Agi Line in the Rogue Tree.  That faster cast speed at the end is incredible.  If you go down the Trapping line in the Ranger tree your Snaring Shot will come up a lot lot faster, your Snares will reduce speed more, you get Hook Shot which can be a real mean thing in the right situations.. and you can use your Thorny Trap more often (and that thing can be just vicious in PvP and PvE).Good Luck out there.Torrin - Exile Ranger - Venekor<div></div>

<DIV>Thanks for the great advice!  As of right now I have Poise and Extension which both work very lovely <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Which i had poise when i was an Assassin lol</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Do we get any stifles? as of right now Furies are my bane, even with 3 snares they always get away with that [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] spirit of the cheetah.</DIV>

at level 51 you wont have sniper shot. you'll have cheap shot, one of the lunge root attacks and 2 range attacks with snare effects on them, and an outright snare. i have not done any PVP but this works on mobs very well. open with the big stealth attack, snare range attack, debuff range attack and triple shot range attack. if the player stays at range just keep pounding him. if they close in use cheap shot get behind, backstab that stealths followed by the stealthed backstab, the bleed line dot CA followed by the lunge root attack (make sure you cast lunge while backing up. when it lands stop) in 4 seconds of root you should be able to get in 2 more bow attacks. for AAs make sure you get the agi line at least until you can put the 8 points into CA cast time reduction. should reduce you cast times to about 1 second for most ranged attacks. you will also get point blank shot and while some people think it's lousy i can get off a ranged attack right after using it. i'm not sure how well this will work against players but i can solo non stop with this method. my only down time is when i'm waiting for CAs to refresh or i'm out of arrows.
