Hello all. I recently returned to EQ2 since a friend started playing. I have started from scratch and built a Ranger on Blackburrow. My problem is that the two different AA sections confuse me. There is the Ranger one with Bounty etc. Then there is the one from EoF.I guess I am trying to say, should I build one rather than the other?(I do not have EoF yet.) Do I need to start one to make it to EoF's AA's? Um... yea.. lol... distracted. Yea, Thats what I am asking and I hope it was not a bother.Thank you, Red1086

Hi Red

It depends. The AA from KoS is very different from the one of EoF KoS AA boost your stats and give you extra CA or passive skills. The EoF AA tree is to build up and enhance existing CA's

Example : KOS first you get this Bounty Skill then you can enhance your stats directly get another shot on the agi line get a percentage on critical hit for ranged CA's and so on

Example : EOF You can enhance the CA for Dance of Trees that you get less penalties, or enhance the CA(Faster running, Don't know its english name) for more running speed(I think you are able to get the speed of a horse or faster

But one thing to keep in mind

Every point which is spent to one tree will remain only to this tree even after a respec, and also you can only spent 50points out of 100 to one of the trees.

Hope that will help you to decide

The faster running ability is pathfinding in english, and boosts your run to 46% total. Not sure if that stacks with journeymen boots (?), but SOW from the mystic line does so possibly.

jboots do stack, for a total of 56% run speed.

And run speed benefits us, how? As opposed to choosing an ability that improves our ability to kill, instead of run.

The above question is meant honestly, from an EQ2 noob who doesn't know the answer.

As a former, experienced EQ player, I know the answer - heck yeah, SoW was completely uber for being able to escape mobs that chased me forever until I zoned, or allowed me to kite things that I had no chance of defeating toe-to-toe. The fact that I often needed to get from one end of the world to another (like from Greater Fay to something-Frost, Permafrost? Yes, it's been that long since I played EQ) was also a good reason.

So far, I don't see those reasons being as necessary as they were in EQ, and truthfully, if they were as necessary in EQ2, I doubt if I would playing it.

Message Edited by Tommara on 01-02-2007 11:39 PM

Run speeds don't cap out at 50%. Mystics can get their SoW up to 64% I believe. Under the fury spell pact of the cheetah, speeds up to 100% can be reached. My speed with journeyman's boots is 56% . I have outrun people on 50% mounts, and not sprinting either.
Message Edited by Badaxe Bart on 01-02-2007 11:59 PM

yah, run speeds definitely dont cap at 50%... thats for sure...and sadly, the 1st points where i invested in EoF tree was indeed the +run speed lol++Xan

Well, perhaps run speed is not all that critical on blue servers, but on a red server run speed is a whole different story!

Fae Rangers also get a 5% racial out of combat run speed boost in Silvani Form, which also stacks.

Message Edited by Mary the Prophetess on 01-03-2007 03:45 AM

Oh okay.. Lol. I think I sorta, maybe, kinda, not really but semi understand. Since I am getting the expansion at some point, what would be the recommended point distrubution? Like, what should I put in DoF's and Eof's? I am mainly playing to group, since I have friends that play with me, otherwise I will solo with my Fury alt.

Sorry the examples were only made to explain what AA tree changes what and were only examples to show not what to take

So if you start using AA point use them you will benefit from them regardless from what you take but you have to decide for yourself what you take

Some takes will benefit you more than other that said.

Another Example what is going to use

In a group you like to play a ranged DD then you would use the KoS AGI line with a bit of Int to let your poisons proc more often (Better choise)

Or you like to play a close in combat ranger (Strange yes but then you would decide to strength and stamina line) (Not so good choise i guess but doable)

But those are examples yet everyone would say to use the agi line will be a better choice for the ranger than the strength line it all depends on playing style.

Okay, so I noticed today when I logged in that it says 0/50 for both the Predator tree and Ranger tree. You said I have 100 points to spend, so I technically could invest in both and not worry then?

Yes Red thats it you will be able to accumulate 100 points and spent them 50/50 in each tree, but it could be that if you haven't got EOF yet that you are only allowed to accumulate 50 points for that tree you have. As I find it difficult to get AA points as a casual player make sure that you got the next Upgrade just after reaching the 50 Point mark and you are not wasting AA experience then.

As I also said before, keep in mind that if you spend one point in a tree it will remain there forever it cannot be used in the other tree even after a respec.

Message Edited by Ultharandor on 01-03-2007 08:56 PM
