For a raid setup type, a ranger wants to deal as much damage as possible. As far as KoS achievements are concerned, the most common setup for this build is Agi: 4/4/4/8/1 and Int: 4/4/4/8, for a total of 49 used points. For the Echoes of Faydwer achievements, I spent 5 in Caustic dmg, 5 in precise shot, 5 in natural selection, 5 in triple volley, 5 in rain of arrows and the single point in Double Attack (ranged). This build obviously stresses ranged and poison damage. For the remainder of the points, I would consider putting the rest of the points into the buffing line to increase the duration of Killing Instinct, Focus Aim and whatever the haste buff is called, then extension (if only for the 5% increase chance to hit).

One combination I like to use is point blank shot from the agility line. Combining this with rip arrow in a duo macro is a nice ammo-free and potentially quite powerful 'sweet-spot' damage producer. One inducement to spend a few more points at that spot. Agi FTW 4/8/8/8/1.

extension could potentially be great for raiding rangers, if the extra range can keep us out of AoE range,

agility is used often, but a ranger told me str was better because str=more damage

why though? agi only gives +def and a ranger is not a tank, or is it just good for aoe dodges and just incase a add pops on u?

Agility is critical for the raiding ranger, but not because of its defensive advantages. Agility, together with strength, add to the ranger's power pool, and in a lot of the boss fights you may find yourself without power even with the use of shards and flowing thought items if your Agi is on the low side. This, of course, can be countered by using mental breach poisons, but that is expensive, and also you would suffer a decrease in DPS.
Message Edited by muraseme on 12-23-2006 09:30 PM

In the KOS line you want to maxamise both the ranged crit and the posion crit in the agi and int line. That means going all the way down to poise in the agi line with 8 in the ranged crit and going to the int line up to the posion crit chance with 8 points. With that set up I am critically hitting 1 in 2 and on the posion crit with gm caustic that can hit up to 1500.

EOF line is pretty easy. DBL attack and boost focus killing etc.

Rofl JJlo this is exactly my setup both for predator and ranger, except that i have 92 aa so 3 points in caustic so far. I was asking myself the same questions for the 6 remaining aa after at 94 i complete caustic.Well i tried pathfinding at max (and then i respected) and i was not that impressed. I would use it for solo or group but rarely for raid. So my final choice would be to put the 3 in fettering and 3 in ancillary, mostly for ancillary in fact.Regards,Corwin - Oasis

IMO the best dps output setup :

Predator ( Kos AA ) : Agi all the way, maximizing the ranged criticals, int line maximizing the poison criticals, without the last skill, and the free point is on STR, with the new cap everything you can get is welcome.

Ranger ( EoF AA ) : Atm i have 87 but i will put as if i had 100.

Multishot : 5 precise, 5 triple, 5 selection, 5 roa, 1 double shot

Buff line : 3 defen, 5 focus, 5 killing, 5 honned, 1 extended

Poison : 5 caustic 5 Snaring shot

Right now i use 5 in pathfinding, to increase my runing speed but once i get 100 i will switch to snaring shot, it seems stupid but that aa gives us like 50dps easy. The adept 3 of that skill is doing 500 dmg and recast is 10 sec, with 5 aa it's recast is 5 sec, so doing 500 every 5 sec plus the debuffs and criticals etc is a good choice if you focused on dps.

Not talking of the soloing improve with a snare of 12 sec duration every 5 sec.
